What’s in a Score
“For one and a half hours weekly, the teachers of ALC engage in Professional Development. This is done to ensure that we remain on the cutting edge of what’s happening in special education. For the past two weeks, we have been studying Psychoeducational Assessments and learning to interpret the scores reported in these documents.
Most persons fall within the blue band at low to high average levels. Students with special educational needs may fall within the blue band, particularly those with sensory disabilities eg., the hearing impaired and visually impaired, provided the appropriate educational resources are available to them. Many children in special ed fall within the green, red and cream bands to the right and left of the blue. Special Education includes a range of abilities from the cognitively impaired to the gifted and talented.
