Birthday recovery on the cards for Ann
STORY AND PICS BY ALF WILSON
Waiben elder Ann Peters is recovering well from knee replacement surgery and looking forward to celebrating her 65th birthday tomorrow.

The Torres News saw the highly respected Ann in Cairns on 2 July, where she had the aid of crutches.
“I was in Cairns Base hospital for five days and was discharged two days ago,” she said.
“I am recovering very well and have had a lot of support from family and friends.
“I was supposed to have the surgery in early June but it was postponed.”
With Ann was her husband, Tony Peters, who works as a ganger for the Torres Strait Shire Council on Waiben.
Whilst in Cairns Ann got to spend valuable time with two nieces Elizabeth and Bakoi Bon, who live there.
“My two sons Gabriel Peters and Daniel Peters also live here, and my daughter Jessie came down from TI to see me as well, before I return back there,” Ann said.
Ann worked for Kaziw Meta College on Waiben for some time.
“I retired in 2020 and am enjoying life on TI where we have so many family,” she said.
We wish Ann many happy returns of the day for her birthday tomorrow.
