The American Legion recognizes that families of deployed and activated military personnel face special difficulties and hardships. With the help of the Family Support Network, these families do not have to shoulder this burden alone. Families can request assistance from local American Legion family members by calling the toll-free number or filling out an online application.

The American Legion’s Legacy Scholarship provides college scholarship money to children of post-9/11 veterans who died on active duty, or have a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or greater. The application period is Nov. 15 to April 15.

The mission of the TSC Veteran’s Success Center office is to support veterans and family members by providing resources to facilitate the transition from military to academic life. The center also provides an environment where veterans can gather to share experiences and support one another through the educational process. The following services are provided:

• Certification of Federal and State educational benefits for Veterans, Military and their dependents. (Ch. 30,31,33,35, 1606, and Hazelwood)

• Admissions application assistance

• Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA completion assistance

• Veterans Resource Center computer lab

• Study room

• VA work-study allowance program

• Veterans’ lounge
