ALDO RAMIREZ

RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT

Hi, my name is Aldo Ramirez and I am running for student government president. You may be wondering, who is this guy? And you are right. Who am I? Well I am your next student body president. I am a freshman here at TSC and I am studying science in order to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. I consider myself to be responsible, efficient, a good communicator and very reliant. My priorities as the president of the student government association will be to create an atmosphere of trust for those who have a difficult time expressing their opinions, which from past experience can be very limiting to some people, as well as being the spokesperson for the students. With that being said I want students to have a great college experience which has been taken away from us due to covid, and one of my goals is by featuring school spirit events so that all students can have fun and enjoy their college experience to the fullest. I am aware that this position carries with it a lot of responsibility and I am committed to fulfilling my role to the best of my ability in collaboration with the rest of the future student body representatives. With that being said you can put your trust in me!

MOISSES GONZALEZ

RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT

Hello, My name is Moisses Gonzalez, and I am running as a presidential candidate of SGA. In the past, I have gained valuable experience in leadership positions related to school organizations such as SkillsUSA and Business Professionals of America, as well as community outreach positions within Boy Scouts of America and Day of Code. My main priority is to put awareness towards updating all the signage around campus and making them more accessible to those who are visually impaired. Updating signage will help the new students on campus and make an environment on campus that is easily traversable, and it would minimize any confusion. I want to create a social atmosphere within our college where dialogue is promoted, and people are not afraid to voice their opinions in a constructive manner. During my term, I wish for the students to know that I am embracing the role of public servant and meshing it with the presidential position. I do not plan on simply being a voice for my personal concerns, but to amplify the voice of the students in order to pinpoint the pressing issues that students are coming into contact within our campus atmosphere. Communication with the students is key to success, and I plan on having my email accessible to all students during my term so that students can bring the campus related issues to my personal attention.

JAQUELINE OVIEDO

RUNNING FOR SECRETARY

My name is Jaqueline Oviedo, and this is the second year that I am part of the Student Government Association. This is also my second year at TSC, and my major is Medical Laboratory Technology. The past year was challenging for a lot of us. The main challenge was trying to adjust to online classes. This year we are finally able to return to on-campus classes and activities, which helps to bring us closer together and set goals for our school campus. This year I am running for SGA’s Secretary because of my experience in this position; I was SGA’s Treasurer last fall semester, and last spring semester I was Secretary, so this is something I am already familiar with. I want to be part of the changes and help in everything I can. I want to help spread all the helpful resources that our school offers, help resolve student’s issues, and achieve all the goals we set during this school year.

GUISEP RAMIREZ

RUNNING FOR TREASURER

It is with great pleasure, passion, and pride that I submit my application to run for and serve on the Student Government Association as a Treasurer Senator. As a member of the SGA, my main focus is to do everything in my power to strive for the students' educational needs, and ensure they’re met by increasing the quality of life on-campus and off-campus. I have two years of working experience in the business and accounting field, I’ve worked in the bank as an Associate Teller at IBC and also as Accountant Assistant at Nugadiesel. This is why I’m the appropriate person to represent the student body as Treasurer, I’ll make sure to work directly with school administration so that the council budget is responsibly expended within the students and school needs. Furthermore I will work with the rest of the SGA senators to create and organize events for the student needs, such as fundraiser events for scholarships, bring awareness events for STD’S and mental health, and educational events like having a guest speaker. I look forward to representing the student body to the best of my abilities if I were to be elected as Treasurer Senator here at TSC

RAUL ALONZO

RUNNING FOR SARGENT-AT-ARMS

Hello my name is Raul Alonzo and the reason why I want to run for this position is because I want to see students' lives change on campus and to change anything that is an issue and hear concerns from students on how to make TSC a better learning environment. This is my first semester at TSC and my first time being in SGA and in any college clubs, but I am excited to be a part of this organization and hopefully be an officer. In the community I have been involved with a lot of organizations that benefit the community. I was a part of Keep Brownsville Beautiful for almost two years and through this organization we cleaned beaches, parks, streets, and joined in beautification efforts. And I am also involved a lot in my church and I am in an organization in which we give out food and go to a location to get to know the community. And the goals and what I want to accomplish through SGA is to see students have a better learning environment and face all issues that every student has and make it a better campus for the future students at TSC

JULIO BETANCOURT

RUNNING FOR SARGENT-AT-ARMS

My prior service to the community involves serving as a law enforcement official. I want to increase activities and events for students at campus while taking safety precautions to prevent the further spread of covid. I plan to set up a covid fair to raise awareness and facilitate vaccinations for the student body to decrease the spread of covid. I plan to graduate with an associate degree in Criminal Justice and pursue a career with the Texas Department of Public Safety and move up with their Texas Rangers team. I want to pursue a career with Texas DPS because I want to specialize in helping with the elimination of human trafficking and work closely in our community to stop the growth of this issue around our youth. I do not have any prior service to the SGA, but I feel I’m the right individual for this position because of my dedication to school, work, and family. Another reason I decided to run for Sergeant at Arms at Texas Southmost College is to set an example for my two sons that nothing is impossible to succeed even at the age of 35 years old like myself while balancing school, a business, work, and family. You can achieve your goals and succeed in life no matter what stands in your way. Go and reach for the stars, make history by getting there and concur with determination.

ULISES AVILES

RUNNING FOR PARLIAMENTARIAN

My name is Ulises Aviles I am 18 years old I was born in McAllen, but I have lived my entire life in Merida, Mexico. Throughout my school career I have faced many different situations that made me step up and advocate for my people in different debates, ceremonies, and other mass events inside and outside of school. Recently, back in 2019 I decided to move back to the U.S. for many reasons, but the main reason has always been to excel my limits as a student and as a human being. I am fully committed to be part of the executive committee as a Parliamentarian because I want to give back what this community has given to me by helping and giving everyone a voice despite their religion, political view, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, or beliefs. Everyone deserves to be heard and I will be putting all my effort into this position not only for those who vote for me, but also for everyone who is part of this wonderful community. I dominate both English and Spanish languages, don’t ever hesitate to reach out for help, suggestions, doubts, concerns, or anything you might need inside TSC’s campus.
