Harford Day School has been such an amazing experience for our family. Our children happily thrive year after year in a fully enriched academic environment. The academic support that we have received has been truly exceptional and we know that we wouldn’t get it anywhere else. We also love the culture of Harford Day School. It truly is a family away from home. It’s such a warm and inclusive environment that as parents make us feel so good about sending our children here.”

The Harford Day School Annual Blue & Green Fund is an essential financial resource that directly supports the day-to-day operations. It plays a crucial role in funding various aspects of the educational experience that enhance student learning and overall school quality. This includes professional development for faculty, which allows teachers to stay current with educational trends and methodologies, ultimately benefiting student outcomes.
Additionally, the fund supports faculty salaries, ensuring that the school attracts and retains skilled educators who are passionate about teaching. It also provides vital academic resources and supplies, ranging from classroom
materials to advanced technology that enriches the learning environment.
The fund enables improvements to school facilities, ensuring they are safe, inviting, and conducive to learning. KATIE CZAJKOWSKI-FELL AND JUSTIN FELL, PARENTS ’33 & ‘35
While tuition provides important financial support for Harford Day School, it does not cover all of the operational costs associated with delivering a comprehensive and enriching education. Contributing to the Annual Blue & Green Fund is essential for bridging this financial gap. Your contributions directly enhance the educational experience of all students. They help fund critical areas such as teacher development, innovative classroom resources, and extracurricular activities that contribute to a well-rounded education. By donating, you
are investing in the quality of education that students receive, ensuring that they benefit from exceptional teaching and a robust curriculum.
Moreover, supporting the Annual Blue & Green Fund helps the school remain flexible and responsive to emerging educational needs and opportunities, allowing for the implementation of new programs and improvements. Ultimately, your contribution is not just a donation; it’s a commitment to fostering an environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential at Harford Day School.
Choosing Harford Day School is by far the best decision we have made for our son. From the moment we entered the doors we were welcomed into an amazing community of teachers, administrators, students, and families.
The HDS EPIC-G values of empathy, perseverance, integrity, community, and growth align with our personal values, and embody the spirit of the school. Our son has grown exponentially during his time here and we believe the education he receives at Harford Day School is unmatched and the foundation for his future success.”

Operating an independent school requires more than tuition alone. Our budget relies on successful fundraising efforts.
At Harford Day, we prioritize prudent financial planning to ensure the sustainability of our independent school. As we do not receive financial support from federal, state, or local governments, nor from any church or religious organization, our revenue relies solely on tuition, fundraising, interest, dividends, and proceeds from special programs. To maintain a balanced budget and secure our future, we must raise additional funds beyond tuition revenue, a common practice among independent schools.
We invite all parents and community members to contribute to the Annual Blue & Green Fund at the start of each school year. Your contributions play a vital role in supporting the educational programs that have been collaboratively developed and nurtured over the past 65 years. We encourage you to make your first gift to Harford Day by supporting this fund. Your investment is more than a donation; it represents a commitment to fostering excellence in our educational community and ensuring that our rich legacy continues to thrive. Thank you for being an integral part of our mission!
for maintaining Harford Day’s cherished legacy, positively impacting students and families today and in the future.
Consider the various ways to contribute, including planned giving, matching gifts, and gifts of stock, to strengthen our mission.
Depending on the type of planned gift you choose, you may receive income from your gift while, at the same time, saving on taxes and donating assets to the School, tax-free.
You may have the option for your gift to be matched by your employer. Matching gifts are a great way to double the impact of your gift to the School. Please check with your employer to see if they offer matching gifts.
Gifts of securities, including stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, may be transferred through your broker to the School’s gift account at Brown Advisory. Please contact the Office of Advancement for assistance with these types of gifts.
Throughout our lives, we play many roles and achieve various successes. However, what truly matters are the accomplishments that infuse our lives with purpose and meaning. Each alumna/alumnus, parent, and friend of Harford Day has their own unique reasons for remembering the School in their estate planning. Whether viewed as a way to give back for an exceptional education or as an opportunity to invest in future generations, a planned gift is a profound way to make a lasting impact.
Planned gifts offer you the chance to create a legacy that reflects your values. Depending on your circumstances and the type of planned gift you choose, you may be able to receive income from your gift while enjoying tax savings and passing
assets to the School, tax-free. Your investment in Harford Day ensures that we can uphold our mission and continue providing an excellent education.
To guarantee that future generations experience the same or an even higher level of excellence as those before them, we rely on your continued support.
The three most common types of planned gifts are bequests, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. For more information on how you can create a meaningful legacy that benefits Harford Day School, please contact Lauren Milan, Director of Advancement, at lmilan@harfordday.org or 410-809-2402.

Every contribution, no matter its size, leaves a lasting impression. The decision on how much to give is entirely in your hands. Your generosity reflects your connection to the School and your identity as a valued member of our community. Every dollar matters, and each gift plays a crucial role in enhancing our mission. Your support directly influences
Harford Day’s capacity to maintain an unparalleled standard of excellence within Harford County.
Leadership Gifts, defined as donations of $1,000 or more, stand out as a vital pillar of our efforts.
We encourage parents to prioritize Harford Day School in their philanthropic efforts while their children are enrolled. Similarly, we believe alumni will recognize the vital role HDS played in their success and will contribute to ensuring future generations have the same opportunities. Donations to the Annual Blue & Green Fund range from $1 to $50,000. While larger gifts significantly bolster the School’s financial health, every contribution counts and makes a meaningful impact. Supporting the Annual Blue & Green Fund reflects a donor’s commitment to the School.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to Harford Day School. Your support is the driving force behind our continued growth and success.
IF I CAN’T MAKE A LARGE GIFT, DOES A SMALL GIFT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Absolutely! HDS values every donation, regardless of its size. Participation is equally important, as it strengthens our Annual Blue & Green Fund year after year.

Thank You Admissions Ambassadors Past & Present!
Eighth Grade Admissions Ambassadors represent the best of HDS. They are nominated by faculty and staff and successfully complete an application process, including an in-person interview. As Ambassadors they lead campus tours for prospective families showcasing our programs, facilities, and the student experience. Our Ambassadors exemplify the value of an HDS education as they share their pride in our community with poise, confidence, and humor. A longstanding school tradition, many current and alumni parents recall the pivotal role the student ambassador(s) played in their decision to enroll their children at Harford Day School. We are proud to continue this tradition and see many of our students serve in similar leadership roles in high school and college.
Jeanne and Jim Butcher are the proud grandparents of Ginger Roarty ’20, Sarajane Roarty ’23, and Wynne Roarty ’27. Thanks to their incredible generosity, all gifts up to $5,000 were matched during the end-of-year fundraising efforts. We are truly blessed to have such supportive family members who help enrich our community and inspire future generations. Their commitment not only strengthens our programs but also sets a wonderful example of giving back, reminding us of the impact we can make together. We look forward to building on this momentum and creating even more opportunities for our students in the years to come.
As grandparents, we see firsthand the tremendous impact Harford Day School has on its students.”

After being at Harford Day for a few weeks I knew we had made the best decision for our family. The staff are truly wonderful and what makes the school such an inviting place. The small ratios allow teachers to give each student the individualized learning and attention needed to help them thrive academically, individually, and socially. The school has core values which are shared by all staff, students, and family members, and it is these values that allow the school to provide a strong sense of community where everyone belongs, and it allows the school to be agile with a growth mindset of always being open to new ways of learning and growing.”

Our commitment to fostering an inclusive and vibrant Community is unwavering. As we embark on this journey, we encourage all members of the Harford Day School family — current students, alumni, and parents — to share their insights and ideas as we prioritize projects that enhance our educational environment. Your feedback will be invaluable in shaping initiatives that not only honor our traditions but also embrace innovation. Together, we can cultivate a dynamic learning atmosphere that ensures every student thrives in a supportive and enriching setting. Stay tuned for updates as we move forward with these exciting developments. 2026
We are pleased to announce Harford Day School received a grant from the Dresher Foundation to fund essential upgrades to our Early Childhood playground. This generous funding enabled us to create a vibrant, inclusive playground that now offers an enhanced space for our youngest learners to thrive.
The newly installed equipment has significantly enhanced the functionality of our playground. Once tailored exclusively for children ages 5-12, the updated design now includes features that cater to children ages 3-5. This expansion encourages physical activity and social interaction among our youngest students, ensuring that all children, regardless of age, have a safe and engaging space to explore and grow.
The response from our community has been overwhelmingly positive. Throughout the summer, both campers and students fully embraced the new playground. Each day, as they prepare to head outside, the excitement is palpable — their enthusiastic chatter reflects their anticipation to explore the
new equipment. Their joy in sharing experiences and discoveries highlights the tremendous impact this grant funding has had on our community, bringing happiness and enrichment to our outdoor spaces.
The impact of the upgraded playground goes far beyond its appearance. Thanks to the generous grant, we’ve introduced new features that enhance both play and safety. The addition of a softer playground surface reduces the risk of injuries, allowing children to play freely and confidently. In line with our commitment to inclusivity, we’ve also ensured that the playground is ADA compliant, making it accessible to children of all abilities.
Our playground has transformed into a space where imagination thrives and friendships blossom. The new equipment invites creative play and physical engagement, fostering a sense of belonging and community among our students. Observing the Little Dragons as they navigate the playground is a heartwarming sight; their laughter and teamwork reflect the positive environment
we strive to cultivate. As we continue to witness the profound impact of the new playground, it is clear that this project is not just about upgrading facilities; it’s about nurturing a generation of curious, active, and engaged learners. The genuine appreciation expressed by our students serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of providing enriching environments where children can play, learn, and grow.
The generous grant from the Dresher Foundation has marked a new chapter for our Early Childhood program, enabling us to create a playground that is safer, cleaner, and more inclusive. We are deeply thankful for the support that made this transformation possible and eager to see our Little Dragons thrive in their enhanced play space. Together, we are building a brighter future, one joyful recess at a time.
Harford Day School extends our heartfelt gratitude to Stuart and Pam Cohen, owners of Hillside Lawn Service, for their outstanding work in updating our game field. Stuart and Pam are proud alumni parents of Eleanor Cohen ’11 and Josie Cohen ’14. Stuart also serves as a current member of the HDS Board of Trustees. Their dedicated team repaired and transformed this essential outdoor space, enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our primary playing field. With a commitment to quality and attention to detail, Hillside Lawn Service revitalized our field and ensured it is safe and inviting for our students and the entire school community. The freshly manicured lawn and improved playing surface will significantly enrich our sports programs and outdoor activities.
We believe that a well-maintained environment plays a crucial role in fostering a love for physical activity and teamwork among our students. Thanks to Hillside Lawn Service, our field is now better
equipped to host soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse games, promoting healthy competition and camaraderie. We are excited to see our students make the most of this enhanced playing field and appreciate our ongoing partnership with Hillside Lawn Service in supporting our mission.
Gift-in-kind contributions, such as the exceptional work provided by Hillside Lawn Service, play a vital role in supporting Harford Day School’s mission. These donations not only enhance our facilities but also demonstrate the commitment of local businesses and community members to enhancing our educational environment. By offering their services and resources, donors help us reduce costs and allocate funds toward essential programs and initiatives that directly benefit our students. Each gift-inkind enriches our community, fosters collaboration, and showcases the strong relationships we have built with our supporters, ultimately creating a more vibrant and supportive atmosphere for learning.
Our volunteers play a crucial role not only strengthening individual programs within the School but also in fostering a more vibrant and interconnected community. Volunteers are an essential asset, providing invaluable resources and support that enhance the educational experience for everyone involved.
When you choose to volunteer, you contribute significantly to the School’s mission while also reaping numerous personal benefits. Engaging with teachers, administrators, and fellow families creates opportunities for meaningful interactions that deepen your understanding of your child’s education at Harford Day. This active participation enriches your own experience and strengthens the bonds within the community, helping to forge lasting relationships and a shared commitment to the School’s success.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our Harford Day School volunteers. Your dedication and support are the foundation of our achievements, and we could not accomplish what we do without your invaluable contributions. Together, we are creating an environment where every child can thrive, and for that, we are incredibly thankful.
