It is that time of the month again when you are treated to newsworthy content about Pitori in Pitori by Pitori. For the first time in 2025, we have a lady as our cover page story. Congratulations to Lindokuhle Khoza, popularly known as Motho wa Ernest. This edition is filled with a diverse range of stories that headlined in our publication during the month of April. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge DJ Karri, a dedicated individual who continues to positively impact lives across the nation. The selection process for our cover story was challenging, with a close contest between Motho wa Ernest and DJ Karri. Nevertheless, we are confident that you will enjoy this edition as much as we enjoyed compiling it. The fact is, selecting just ten stories for every edition is a daunting task, given that our strive to provide you with stories that matter. April is a significant month, filled with the Easter spirit. We also celebrate Freedom Day in April, and we hope that you will exercise your freedom to be the change you would like to see in society.

Social media users are captivated by Bra Mendo, the street-smart and charismatic kasi character who embodies both gangster and connoisseur of finer things. Whether delivering a eulogy at a thug’s funeral or dining out with his unsuspecting girlfriend, Matilda, Bra Mendo’s antics have garnered a significant following on TikTok.

Behind this viral sensation is Lindokuhle Khoza, a 24-year-old content creator from Hammanskraal, Tshwane, also known as Motho wa Ernest. Utilizing creative filters, she brings multiple characters to life, portraying everyday township life with humor and authenticity. Her repertoire of characters includes gangster personas and kind-hearted nurses, which have resonated with thousands of fans. Lindokuhle’s content creation journey commenced three years ago while she was a student at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). What began as an experiment borne out of boredom quickly evolved into a passion.

“I created three videos, and they all went viral. My family consistently encouraged me to showcase my humor on TikTok, and now I’m pursuing my passion,” she stated.

DJ KARRI CONTINUES TO TOUCH LIVES OF THE LESS FORTUNATE By Asemahle Cwayela and Ntombikayise Mathomane South African hitmaker DJ Karri recently took to social media to share exciting news: “The bike boys have officially entered the Western Cape Province!” The journey, which has captured the hearts of many across the country, continues to gain momentum and serious backing. In his recent post, DJ Karri gave a special shoutout to JacarandaFM for their generous R20,000 donation, helping fuel the mission as the crew continues to travel and uplift communities. The gesture didn’t go unnoticed by fans, with many applauding the station for stepping in to support the cause.
So far, an impressive lineup of supporters has stepped up to back DJ Karri and the boys. Among those who’ve made contributions are Jacaranda FM, The Burgersfort Mayor, Red Bull, Mr. Mohlala, Gauta BMX, and Huawei South Africa. The collaboration between music, sport, corporate, and community leaders is creating something bigger than a road trip – it’s a movement. Furthermore, Maria Moeti, a devastated mother from Attredgeville, reached out seeking donations for her 16-year-old son, Keletso Moeti, who requires a hip arthritis operation. The unemployed mother of four has been facing difficulties with her son’s condition, which started in November 2023. She confirmed that they only survive by social grant payouts. “Keletso started to get sick in November 2023; he got admitted to Kalafong hospital last year in January. Since then, he’s been in and out of hospital,” Moeti said. She emphasized that Keletso was in good condition after birth and had no complications. “He now uses a wheelchair and crutches due to the excruciating pain of hip arthritis,” she added. Keletso, a grade 8 learner from Saulridge secondary school, took a gap year last year amid the arthritis condition. He went back to school this year but doesn’t attend full-time due to his condition. The 16-year-old made a video that went viral on social media, seeking DJ Karri’s assistance following his condition. A large number of social media users tagged the popular DJ. DJ Karri did visit Keletso in Attredgeville. He confirmed that he finally visited the young man from Attredgeville and had a chat with him and his family. “The boy will receive proper medical attention with the right procedures to be followed,” he said. Yesterday, he took to social media to announce that he has partnered with Kabza De Small to pay for Keletso’s medical bills.

BRING OUT THE BEST YOURSELF Residents of Soshanguve gathered at Kopanong Community Hall recently to pay tribute to Philemon Mashabela, who was brutally killed in the Marry Me informal settlement. Philemon was shot, stoned, axed, and set alight in a violent attack on March 22, which also left other community patrollers dead or hospitalized. He succumbed to his injuries on March 31. Described as a kind and loving person, Philemon played a significant role in his family. His brother, Patrick Mashabela, expressed profound sorrow over the loss, recalling how Philemon was a pillar of strength and an advisor to their family.

"We are in immense pain. He stood up for the safety of our community, and now he’s gone,“ - Patrick Patrick also voiced concerns over security in the area, lamenting that those they welcomed from neighboring countries were responsible for such violent acts. "We need our government to protect us. We love and respect our neighbors, but we cannot continue living in fear," he stated. His friend, Sylvester Mmola, said he was heartbroken by the loss of a dear companion, while ANC Veterans League member Grace Motileng called for divine strength. "It’s enough. We’ve suffered too much. Our tears have run dry," he said.

TSEKELEKE VENTURES INTO RADIO PRESENTING By Ntombikayise Mathomane South African hitmaker DJ Karri recently took Mixon Tholo, popularly known as Tsekeleke, has launched Pham Pham FM, a novel TikTok radio show. The 39-year-old singer and dancer from Mabopane has captivated audiences with his talent. His social media followers are thoroughly enjoying his show.
Furthermore, he appealed to various radio stations to give him a chance to showcase his talent. Puleng Mogare, a TikTok fan, commented, “He sounds good for this role.” Mogare added, “I’m concerned he might reveal numerous people’s secrets on air.”
The radio show allows TikTok followers to call in and request their favorite songs. Tsekeleke then dances to the selected song and shares his thoughts on it. This concept originated when Tsekeleke, while live on TikTok, pretended to be a radio broadcaster playing a song. His fans were impressed, and he began receiving requests to do it regularly, ultimately leading to the launch of Pham Pham FM. According to reports, Tsekeleke acknowledged seeing an opportunity and seizing it. “People are pleased with my show; they constantly ask me to go live. Whenever I start the live stream, they make their song requests,” he stated.

SOSHANGUVE TEEN SEEKS SUPPORT TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA AT INTERNATIONAL ROPE SKIPPING CHAMPIONSHIP By L. SIMANGA Eighteen-year-old Xolani Witbooi from Block WW in Soshanguve, Tshwane, is calling on the public to provide financial assistance to enable him to represent South Africa at the forthcoming Japan International Jumprope Federation competition, scheduled to take place from 27 July to 3 August 2025. Xolani, a Grade 12 learner at Central Secondary School, requires R60,000 to cover his travel and accommodation costs. He resides with his 70-year-old grandmother, Rebecca Witbooi, who relies on an old-age grant for financial support.
“This sport, which falls under gymnastics, is distinct and requires a unique set of skills,” Xolani explained. “I urgently need sponsorship to realize my dream. Rope skipping has not only kept me focused and physically fit but also mentally strong.” MAGAZINE

For Xolani, this trip would be his first experience of air travel and his inaugural journey outside South Africa. “I am deeply honored to represent my country on the international stage. I am filled with excitement and anticipation at the prospect of visiting Japan,” he added. Despite facing significant personal challenges, including the loss of his father in 2016 and his mother a year later, Xolani remains resolute and determined to overcome adversity. He nurtures ambitions of representing South Africa at the Olympics and ultimately bringing home a gold medal.

The incident has sparked outrage across Soshanguve, with growing calls for the City of Tshwane to take immediate action, including increased security measures such as regular patrols and surveillance to protect the cemetery from further damage.

Grieving families who visited the cemetery during the Easter weekend were met with the horrifying sight of toppled, broken, and defaced tombstones, with many struggling to comprehend why anyone would commit such a senseless act.
Residents also accuse the municipality of neglect, stating that this tragedy could have been prevented had the site been properly maintained and secured. In response, local leaders have urged the city to investigate and bring those responsible to justice, and to provide financial assistance to help affected families restore the damaged graves.
"This is beyond disrespect. We trusted that our loved ones were resting in peace, only to find their graves desecrated," said one emotional resident.

TWO TSHWANE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS FOUND DEAD By Ntombikayise Mathomane Tshwane University of Technology is saddened by the death of two students who were attending classes at the Soshanguve campus. Recently, TUT released a media statement confirming the passing of these students. As a mark of respect, the university postponed tests scheduled to take place on the Soshanguve campus on the 25 April.
Paramedics were called, but unfortunately, she passed away. Additionally, the body of a missing Humanities student was found in the state morgue.
According to the Dean, an IT student collapsed in front of Building 5 after complaining of not feeling well.

The Student Representative Council extended their condolences to those affected by this ordeal. “We encourage students to utilize counseling services and seek support from friends, family, and faculty. Let us honor the memories of our fellow students by demonstrating compassion, unity, and care for one another,” they stated. The university urged students to keep the families of the deceased in their thoughts and prayers.
BARCADI MAESTRO RELAPSES INTO DRUG ABUSE BY NTOMBIKAYISE MATHOMANE DJ Mujavah, famous for his hit song 'Mugwanti Wa Pitoria', has allegedly returned to the streets after being released from rehab in February 2025. This follows his admission to rehab to combat his drug addiction, facilitated by DJ Karri in 2024, from which he was released in February 2025. According to the Daily Sun, he was recently spotted on the streets of Attredgeville, seemingly reverting to his addictive behavior. 'He was standing outside a shop, begging for money from customers entering the shop. When we attempted to engage him, he became aggressive, stating he didn't require assistance,' the Daily Sun reported.
Mr. Moloto of the Limpopo Anti-Drugs Gangsterism and Crime unit mentioned that DJ Mujavah was showing improvement during his time in rehab. A community member, wishing to remain anonymous, commented, 'I'm not being judgmental, but having seen his videos at Ladgac, it's clear he also requires mental institution care. Rehab alone may not suffice; it's heartbreaking to witness drugs consuming such talent. He's one of the individuals who elevated Barcadi.'
