BBQ festival won’t change dates; set again for June 8-9 The 2012 Blue Ridge BBQ & Music Festival will be held on June 8 and June 9 next year after all, according to festival chairman Chuck Britton. “We had announced earlier that the date would be moved back one week, but scheduling conflicts would not allow it,” Britton said. Members of the festival steering committee have already begun regular planning meetings for the event. “It takes a lot of time just getting the major pieces in place – organizing the competitors and judges, selecting vendors, recruiting volunteers, selecting entertainers and crafters – not to mention actively soliciting sponsors,” committee member Brenda Bradshaw said. “And then too, we’re (Continued on page 4)

Slow Food Foothills (a.k.a. Slow Polk) will host a potluck and planning meeting at Stone Soup in Landrum Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m. There will be a short presentation about the potential activities and programs the group plans to host. Tryon to sell property near depot Dentist makes offer; upset bid process begins by Leah Justice

Tryon Town Council has agreed to sell property located near the town’s train depot. Dr. John Hooker, a dentist who currently has an office with Dr. Mark McCall on Pacolet Street, has made an offer of $8,000 for the

property. Hooker said he plans to construct a dental office that aesthetically complements the nearby depot. Tryon Town Council met Tuesday, Nov. 15 and approved a resolution of intent to sell the property. The town must complete an upset bid process, (Continued on page 3)
