LEADING FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE!

MICHAEL HANSHAW For our Trumbull County educational community, 2021 started with much uncertainty as we continued to address concerns associated with COVID-19. Even so, our team of students, families, and staff continued to move forward and confront each challenge with determination, dedication, commitment, and professionalism.

For these reasons and so many more, I express my gratitude to each of you and thank you once again for a job well done.

Although teaching and operational methods continually changed to align with health updates and revised protocols, we continued to provide outstanding educational opportunities to our students while meeting their health and safety needs.

Moving further into 2022, we at the TCESC look forward to working with our aligned school districts. Our staff has been developing new opportunities for students and staff that we are anxious and excited to share with you in the months ahead.

It is an honor to collaborate with all of you as we continue together to pursue educational excellence.

lORI SIMIONE, CPA The Office of the Treasurer is responsible for the management, investment, and transparent reporting of ESC finances.

The Office of the Treasurer is responsible for a budget of $55 million.

The TCESC receives state foundation funding in addition to service contracts with 20 local districts for curriculum and special education.

The TCESC is a fiscal agent to the Insurance Consortium (17 districts), the Transportation Consortium (19 districts), and NEOMIN (Information Technology Center).

STUDENT PROGRAMS

Hands-on Experience This past November, the TCESC was awarded the Innovative Workforce Incentive Program Grant by the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation in the amount of $283,650 to establish a new industryrecognized credential program for Trumbull County students.

During the 2022-23 school year, with grant funding support, the TCESC will partner with the Ohio Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Center to offer an Ohio State Apprenticeship Council recognized pre-apprenticeship program for students in grade 11.

Through this new pre-apprenticeship program, approximately 50 students from across the county will gain essential hands-on experience, including instruction in building trades, mathematics, employability skills and project-based learning. Upon completing this two-year program, each student will be eligible to receive a 12-point industry-recognized credential that meets Ohio’s alternative graduation requirements and gains them direct admission into an apprenticeship program following graduation.

ARTWORK

TCESC Art Shows Featured Work by K-12 Students Trumbull County public school artists, were featured in two TCESC Art Shows in 2021.

The first, held in May at The Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren, featured works by students in grades K-8.

The TCESC High School Art Show was held in April at the Medici Museum of Art in Howland. The juried show featured art created by 53 students from high schools across Trumbull County.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING: OTES 2.0 Training Nearly 175 Trumbull County administrators participated in OTES 2.0 training. OTES is a professional growth model intended to assist educators in continually enhancing their performance. The goal is to identify teachers' strengths and improve in areas of weakness.

District Personalized Learning Days The Curriculum & Instruction Team worked individually with districts the entire school year school by offering virtual and in-person training based on districts' needs.

The team provided these training opportunities at least twice for each district, reaching 1,903 teachers.

Summer of Growth The TCESC offered a series of summer programs, virtually and in person. In one of the seminars, participants learned how to transform the traditional classroom into a personalized student learning environment.

The presenters guided participants in creating Mastery Grids from State Standards and taught them how to implement The Grid Method.

IN THIS TOGETHER More than 2,300 Trumbull County school employees received their COVID-19 vaccines in two doses in February and March of 2021.

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center, in partnership with Discount Drug Mart, facilitated two COVID-19 vaccination clinics for employees of 27 school districts across Trumbull County, including public, private, parochial, and charter.

Employees were vaccinated on February 26, 2021 and March 19, 2021 at a temporary clinic set up at the former TJ Maxx store, provided by the Cafaro Company, at the Great East Plaza in Niles. Panera Bread supplied the coffee to our volunteers.
