SUPERINTENDENT We have entered the winter months in northeast Ohio, which means we may encounter inclement weather that could delay Raymond Soloman or cancel school. Our district takes into account many different factors when making the decision to cancel or close. We also consult with local authorities and other school districts throughout Trumbull County prior to making our decision.

Hubbard Schools Superintendent

While each weather event is handled differently, there are some criteria we follow: The district may cancel or close school if road conditions are unsafe for school bus operation, as determined by the superintendent. The Hubbard Exempted Village School District transports approximately 1,000 students by bus each day. The remainder of the students drive to school or receive a ride to school.

The district may cancel or close school due to extreme cold, as determined by the superintendent.

If our district were to delay the start of school or cancel, we will notify parents/guardians through the following methods: Automated Phone Call Hubbard Schools will utilize its automated phone call system in the event of a delay or cancellation. The phone calls are made to families, who’ve registered their telephone numbers with the district, within five minutes of the superintendent recording the message.

Television Hubbard Schools will alert the local television media (WFMJ, WKBN, WYTV) if the decision is made to delay or cancel school. The district does not have any control over how fast the information is published by the TV stations. However, they do make an effort to post them as quickly as possible.

Social Media/Website In the event of a delay or cancellation, the district will utilize its social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), as well as its website to relay the information.

HUBBARD HIGH SCHOOL ART STUDENTS CREATE FUNKO POP! ART CHARACTERS Students in Josh MacMillian's art classes recently crafted Funko POP! characters.

Funko POP! characters

are known for their unproportionate bodies. The classes started by making the heads by intersecting pieces of cardboard with hot glue and masking tape. To make them as light as possible, students used balloons for the majority of the mass and wrapped the heads in plastic wrap and stuffed them with newspaper to make them round. Next, students attached the heads and bodies and then used paper mache techniques to finalized the characters. Lastly, the students painted the characters.

HUBBARD ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ARRIVE AT SCHOOL IN STYLE On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, the Eagle Joint Fire Department picked up winners of their recent coloring contest and transported them on the department's new fire truck to Hubbard Elementary School. In October, members of the fire department came to the school to meet with students in grades K-4 about fire safety. At that time, they unveiled their coloring contest. Last month, they selected one student from each grade to receive a ride to school.
