Liberty Local School District senior Kailey Ague is the 2024 Trumbull County Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award recipient In May, Kailey received a $2,500 scholarship from the Trumbull County Educational Service Center Governing Board at the scholarship breakfast at Avalon Inn. All other nominees for the award received $500 scholarships for textbooks.
The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established in 1989 by OESCA (Ohio Educational Service Center Association) to promote and recognize outstanding student leaders for their academic achievements and service to their schools and communities. One senior from each county in Ohio is eligible to receive this annual award.

Theevent'skeynotespeakerwasMichael Repetto,Sr.DirectorofNorthAmericanEV Business,whohasworkedwithFoxconn sincemid-2021 Michaelbringsawealthof experienceandexpertiseintheautomotive industry,spanningnearlyfourdecades, includingbusinessdevelopment,project management,advancedengineering,and externalaffairs
CivicDaybeginswiththestudentsbeing pairedwiththeirassignedcivicleadersto discusstheimportanceofcivicdutiesand theirimpactonthecommunity.The studentswerebroughttogetherforlunchto hearMr.Repetto’skeynoteaddress.
Theday'sobjectivewastoprovidethe studentswithadeeperunderstandingof theresponsibilitiesassociatedwithcivic dutiesandtheirimpactonthecommunity.
InApril,theChampion4th-gradeStudentCouncilattendedthe TCESCPre-ApprenticeshipCarpentryWorkshop.Duringthe afternoon,theyfocusedonbuildingbirdhousesandlearning aboutthecarpentrytradefromskilledstudents.Afterthe workshop,thecouncilmembersbroughttheirnewknowledge backtotheclassroomandtaughttheirclassmateshowto makebirdhouses.
AttheMarchTCESCGoverningBoardMeeting,the GoverningBoardacceptedtheretirementofEarly ChildhoodSupervisorGerlindaMelillo.
Gerihascontributed39yearstoeducation.Geribeganher journeywiththeTrumbullCountyESCinOctober1989asa preschoolteacherintheprogram'sinauguralyear.
BeforeTCESC,GeriworkedasaBehaviorIntervention SpecialistwithUPSTREAM,supportingat-riskpreschoolers Shethentaughtpreschoolspecialeducationfor16years, withassignmentsinLaBrae,Girard,andasanitinerant teacher.AfteratenureasSupervisorofExceptional ChildreninNilesCitySchoolDistrict,shereturnedtoTCESC in2014toleadtheprogramsheoncetaught.
