Poster 1: Idea: Skyfall - Adele

Development: Refers to the building up of the song this evokes a more curved and suspense filled nature and can directly correlate with the above sound waves graph

Linear: Refers to the constant use of flat Quaver notes throughout the music sheet. This linear approach directly rivals the sound and fluctuating feel of the song further represented in the sound waves graph.

Transition: Focuses on one particular stage in the song, were the intro development transitions into the coarse therefore creating two sides almost separating one another.

Contrast: Most notable is the stark difference between the written dialect and the feel of the song. This is scene through the wavy, flow experience of listening to the song as apposed to the sharp linear transcript.

Precedents

The four Descriptors I chose all contrasted each other perfectly. This was my overarching key terminology throughout due to the flow of the music as a posed to reading it. Therefore, I looked in to both natural/organic curvature whilst starkly contrasting that with harsh straight lines. Contrast requires a transition between the two while leading towards a build up further supporting my curvature design.

The three images top left describe both the Contrast and Development through an emphasis on curved roofing with more of a linear window design (contrasting angularly).

While the bottom right three represent the Linear and Transition stages. These are shown through an angular more aggressive building shapes, as well as a landscape that transitions from a more rugged aesthetic to a more modern one.

Poster 3: Evaluate

The diagram above represents the songs contrasting elements, between its flow and physical experience rather than its more jagged and liner written approach.

As resembled by the Sound wave the song begins through a large minuet long development stage characterizing the gradual increase in sound resulting in a curve, allowing for a possible suspenseful design. On the contrast the opposite be scene through the song’s liner notes.

These images have been positioned apposed from one another to suggest the overarching idea of contrast, most obvious through the curvy sound waves and the straight edge music sheet.

Transition is represented through the center of the two sound elements to suggest the transition both have to go through to get to one another.

These 16 sketches represent the initial idea generation that comes to mind when tasked to represent my chosen ideals captured from the song.

As Contrast was so key, I experimented with a mixture of curvature and linear aspects throughout. These aspects can be scene in annotation provided above.

I was able to tackle both the Linear aspect through this one word. With an alternating emphasis on one or the other at any given time.

Transition was achieved though creating a path or directing as stated in prior poster pages. This was commonly done through the inclusion of multiple spaces or room resulting in a slightly larger room dynamic. This was ideal for these words throughout.

Poster 5: Develop

Overall I was able to take one of the drawings previously explored and aimed to develop upon it further. I was able to integrate a step like design that closely resembles the sound waves chart. As displayed in my inspiration image. Contrast was lacking, as this was the overarching idea I focused on I was able to incorporate a split roofing feature with a continued flow just with contrasting sides. As this is how i interpreted the song.

This allowed for the Development concept as well as linearity to flourish. Though its angular and suspenseful curvature designs.

Finally I was able to explore transition more closely through the inclusion of a stairway down to another room or space, as throughout I explored that transition is an act of altering or changing your position.
