Q: What moments/ things have been the most rewarding?
A: Making it to 75 years will be a huge accomplishment. We have been able to prevail through various ups and downs and continue to grow while still holding on to our values. We’ve been a part of many major projects throughout Miami County and Western Ohio. Being able to see our work come to life is always rewarding.
Q: What challenges has the business had to face and overcome?
A. Various obstacles have come about over the years, like the 2008 housing crash and most recently the supply chain and price increase issues related to Covid. Most recently inflation and finding a qualified workforce is our biggest obstacle. Our goal is to have and continue to build a team that is able to adapt and overcome the challenges.
Q: What elements of your business do you think makes you so unique and so vital to the Troy/Miami Valley small business community?
Q: Hemm’s Glass is unique in our ability to focus on many different customers and stakeholders. We have our service division who is focused on making sure our residential and auto glass customers are taken care of. We have our commercial division who fabricates and facilitates installations to major projects all across the state. Some of our recent projects include the new Columbus Crew Stadium - Lower.com Field, the interior of the Dayton Arcade, and the new Monroe Federal building in Tipp City. The Piqua YMCA will be our next major project in Miami County and we are looking forward to that challenge.
Being members of our community is not only a core value but something we experience with our team members. A number of our employees are involved in local charities like the United Way, the Piqua Community Foundation and others. The majority of our team members live within 20 miles of our headquarters and it’s important for us to support and fuel those around us. We are focused on relationships and giving value to the marketplace. Without it, we cannot serve.
