Power grid control system Our package for the control of power grids is highly interesting as a complement to process visualizations that are already in place, in particular in special cases where alongside power generation other areas, such as power distribution or feed-in into major grids, are to be integrated and displayed. The package includes an individual PC- and Siemens WinCC-based process visualization station. All data requested and required for process visualization (e.g. outputs, load flows, water levels, reservoir volumes, consumptions, etc.) are collected in real time from the power stations as well as from distribution and connection substations, appropriately combined and clearly visualized. Of course, all data are archived in high time resolution and are available even after many years.
Advantages The system is particularly beneficial for widely branched grids with distributed power generation and geographically scattered consumption, where the optimization of electric power generation and distribution is crucial. The interactive process visualization enables easy and intuitive control of all processes via the screen. By recording and generating trend curves from historical data further opportunities arise for identifying optimization potentials for the overall system. The system can also be readily extended to drinking water-supply systems and other supply services.
