Welcome to the 2024 edition of the GENEPLUS Embryo Auction! We are excited to offer the level of embryos from the GENEPLUS team, as the best of the best are represented in terms of sires and dams.
Our breeding philosophy is one of balance, not extremes, as we firmly believe that balance in all areas is what our programs, and that of our commercial bull customers demand, adding the most profit to everyone’s bottom line with a combination of calving ease, performance, carcass AND maternal function and fertility. Add to it intrinsic traits like phenotype, sheath design, foot structure, udder attachment, disposition, frame size, and hair shedding ability and it is easy to see why you can’t focus a legitimate breeding program on one or two traits as you sacrifice far too much by doing so. We build this balance on the back of facts- bulls we have studied deeply and have known the pedigree history of for generations and through females who have proven their worth in the pasture, having calved and proving their ability, not flushing virgins to “turn generations”. We have watched dairy, pork, and poultry industry speed up their generational turn, with many, many negative effects, but they continue to do so as they are essentially single trait selection industries, but the beef cattle business is much different-single trait selection will ruin this industry if we allow it.
We sell bulls literally from coast to coast into vastly different environments, yet all the customers expect the same result. A bull that will hold up and a calf at weaning that is as heavy as its environment will allow.
From there they may go different routes, ending up in the food chain at the end, but the path there can be vastly different, and many of those in the food chain left sisters in the herd that are expected to carry on for the next generation. Our idea of “turning generations” isn’t solely about speed, it’s about quality and repetition over time. Calf crop after calf crop, season after season, sale after sale, year after year. Take heed in the fact we know what these matings will do and we aren’t selling them because we need to empty our tank, we are sharing them to help further the breed’s footprint in as many ways as possible.
As you flip the catalog you will notice we wrap up the lots with some hard to find semen, in 3 unit increments. These are elite and proven sires whose semen is not readily available on the open market.
We are in the bull business and these matings represent that sentiment. Regardless of the trends, flavor of the month, overhyped hype, etc, when the smoke clears if you’re in the bull business your customers will show you what they want, and ours say overwhelmingly it is balance they need.
