GENETRUST, is an alliance of ranches dedicated to the common goal of providing a superior genetic product. The concept behind GENETRUST was conceived by a group of Brangus breeders in an impromptu meeting to discuss the benefits and strengths of their breed. It was evident that the Brangus breed possessed the genetic strengths and advantages that created a tremendous opportunity for the breed to have a greater influence on the future of beef cattle production. The Ultrablack program has been a major success for us and an in demand product for our commercial customers. Please note that we have noted the UB1 cattle in this catalog with a green highlight and the UB2 with a blue highlight. We have not however made note of those females that may be carrying the service of an Angus sire or Ultrablack sire. While viewing this offering please keep this in mind so you are aware of what these female lots are bred to.

You can save shipping and handling charges by picking up semen that you will need for your spring breeding season at the Cavender’s Neches River Ranch Sale. Representatives from either GENETRUST or Integrated Breeders will be available Tuesday to fill your orders. We would ask that you keep your orders to goblet increments of 5’s or 10’s so that we can avoid excessive handling of semen. Please contact GENETRUST at 1-877-436-3877 to place your order prior to the sale to assure we have enough semen on hand and available sale day.

The cattle will not sell in numerical lot order. We will have a printed sale order prior to the sale. Please note that animals will not be going through the ring and will be presented on video.

GENETIC CONDITION POLICY Any animals that are confirmed as carriers of a genetic condition such as DD, developmental duplication, will be listed above their pedigrees as DDC. Any animals we are still waiting test results on will be listed DDPC. All other animals have been either confirmed free of known genetic conditions by test results or from pedigree analysis.

We are extremely dedicated to providing our customers the genetics needed to help positively impact their bottom line.

We will not compromise the integrity of our data. Our utmost goal is to provide the information that will successfully identify the genetics most needed in your particular operation. The information provided by the IBBA was provided at weaning and yearling by the breeder for computation. We believe in EPD’s, but fully realize that they are only as good as the information provided to the association. Inaccurate weights and faulty contemporary groups lead to poor information and bad selection decisions.

Please realize that these females were in different contemporary groupings at weaning; therefore, it is not fair to compare birth, weaning and yearling weights from one herd to another. A wide range of environments are represented in this offering and thus have affected those weights, plus different management comes into play, i.e. creep fed vs. not creep fed.

Within herd weights and ratios were good when that was the only information we had. However, EPD’s are a much better indicator of genetic potential and are the only way across herd

The entire GENETRUST team would like to welcome Wat Johnston and his family as a new GENETRUST partner. In the early part of 2016 one of the largest private treaty sales of registered Brangus cattle occurred when Johnston Cattle Company, owned by Wat Johnston and Family acquired Johnston Farms, previously owned by Ray Johnston, Wat’s brother. The herd will now operate under the name of Johnston Brangus and will maintain headquarters in Letohatchee, Alabama. The breeding program and the property that these cows have been managed on since inception of Johnston Farms 20 years ago will remain the same.

I have always had a high regard for GENETRUST. We have utilized their bulls in our commercial program for over seven years, and have been using the genetic lines for over 15 years.

We know how this group conducts business and appreciate the integrity and strong character embodied in each member.

We are honored to join GENETRUST, where the emphasis on raising the bar for quality in each calf crop is a driving force.

Ray Johnston was one of the founding members of GENETRUST and his contribution and commitment to the GENETRUST organization will be greatly missed. With this acquisition, Wat will assume Ray’s board seat with GENETRUST, as its newest member.

Wat has been in the commercial business for over 50 years and operates on the same land his family began farming in the early 1800’s. For the past 25 years, Johnston Cattle Company has utilized Brangus bulls on their crossbred females, including many sires from the GENETRUST program.

“Our weaning weights have continued to increase since we began using Brangus bulls. When my brother decided to retire, my family and I felt this was a great business opportunity.

We have been using these genetics for a long time in our commercial operation and have been very pleased with the results. My brother assembled a fabulous herd and we are proud to be able to pick up where he left off,” remarked Wat. In 2004, the Johnston family expanded to Argentina, where they operate, Estancia Flor de Lis, a cattle ranch. Clearly, the Johnston family is excited about the future of the cattle business and looks forward to continuing the tradition of raising top quality cattle.

GENETRUST looks forward to working with Wat Johnston and his family plus their long time ranch manager Alan Haney and drawing on their lifelong involvement in the commercial sector of the beef industry as we make major decisions in the genetics that we offer our customer base.

The GENETRUST partners are extremely optimistic about the future of the seedstock industry, and the immediate future of the cow/calf sector of our industry.

The record setting prices we saw in 2014 and 2015 are probably history, yet we remain in a historically high market that should translate into a continued positive profit margin for the cow/calf producer. That being said, we need to continually challenge ourselves as to what we can do to improve on our management practices to help generate as many dollars as possible from our cow herds. GENETRUST is trying to use all the tools we have available in our industry to give you added confidence in the product we are selling. Simply put we want you to be satisfied with your purchase, and we want that animal and its offspring to exceed your expectations.

We continue to stress what we feel are the basics in any seedstock operation, that is, individual evaluation of every animal we sell. We cull hard at every level of production. We insist on structural integrity. Individual performance is appreciated for what it is, but has to be taken in context with the environment in which the animal was raised. Proper contemporary grouping so that animals can be fairly compared is paramount. Herd health and biosecurity are second nature in our cowherds and we pass this along in the bulls we are selling. As in the past, all bulls that go through our sales will be tested negative for bovine leukosis, persistently infected BVD, Trichomoniasis and Johne’s disease. All bulls will have a yearling carcass ultrasound and all sale bulls will pass a breeding soundness evaluation prior to the sale.

We continue to rely heavily on expected progeny differences (EPD’s) in our evaluation of these bulls. EPD’s level the environmental playing field, which becomes very important when you are selling bulls to a wide range of customers from around the globe. Obviously the more accurate the EPD’s, the more confidence we can place on them. Traditionally, in order to increase the accuracy of EPD’s, you had to wait until the bull had

several calves through the production system to have enough information to know if he was breeding true to his EPD prediction. The cattle industry is quickly moving to utilizing genetically enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPD’s). Basically, this technological advance uses the animal’s DNA markers to measure the animals potential, (or lack of potential). We feel that as DNA technology matures, it too will become a basic in every reputable seedstock breeders repertoire. Our hope is that this technology will help you make the best choices in genetics to fit your operation.

GENETRUST has embraced DNA technology which is quickly becoming the industry standard. Our cattle and ancestors of our cow families were a major part of the training population of animals used to populate the Brangus data base. We have used DNA for parent verification for several years and have tested all sale cattle for inherited genetic conditions since November 2013.

Animals whose parents have not been DNA tested for parentage cannot be confirmed to that sire or dam, so we are still building that data base for each of our herds. As you can imagine the testing is not cheap, and will require time to get all cattle DNA in the system. We have taken the approach to get as many AI sires and donor dams tested utilizing the GGPHD test. This is the high density chip, and uses up to 150,000 gene markers per sample and is the gold standard in the industry. GENETRUST has selected Neogen/Geneseek, the world’s leader in bovine DNA testing, as our genetic provider. All GEEPD’s are generated through the International Brangus Breeders Association.

For the last two GENETRUST sales, we have incorporated GE-EPD’s into a larger percentage of our sale animals. The majority of the sale animals will have GE-EPD’s. Most of the lots will be parent verified by DNA to their sire. Those lots that are not confirmed by DNA testing, will be as animals have been done in the past, confirmed by accurate AI dates and natural service

dates and is our best estimate as to parentage. We hope you can see how DNA will change this industry and give you, the bull buyer, more confidence in knowing exactly what you are buying.

Many lots in this sale will have the GGPLD logo. This means they have been parent verified and have GE-EPD’s reflected in their EPD’s published in this catalogue and most current with the IBBA. The GGPLD test is similar to the GGPHD and is referred to as the low density chip.

Instead of the 150,000 markers noted on the high density chip there are 42,000 on the low density chip.

Because of timing with submission of samples and the EPD runs, some of the lots will have GE-EPD’s done but not reflected on their most current set of EPD’s available

at press time. These lots will have GE-EPD’s available May 1st. These animals are parent verified and will be noted in the catalogue with the GGP logo.

Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. It takes into account the animals’ own performance compared with its contemporaries and the performance of its relatives compared against their contemporaries.

Birth Weight (BW) EPD predicts calf size and calving ease.

Weaning Weight (WW) EPD predicts preweaning growth potential.

Yearling Weight (YW) EPD predicts overall growth potential.

Suhn’s Augustus 416Y14 first caught breeders’ attention when he was sold through the 2012 GT @ Chimney Rock Cattle Co. Bull Sale. Not only a standout phenotypically with his thickness, base width, rib depth and volume wrapped in an eye appealing package; he also presented the right combination of growth and carcass and backed it up with the raw performance to match his EPD profile. He recorded an AWW of 724 lb. to ratio 124, AYW of 1433 lb. to ratio 144 and gained an impressive 4.26 to lead the rest of his contemporaries. His scan data was equally impressive as he posted an AREA of 17.25 to ratio 107 and an AIMF of 6.71 to ratio 128. His Genomically Enhanced EPD profile ranks him at the very top of the breed with a ranking in the top 4% of the

breed for IMF, top 5% for YW, the top 10% for WW, and top 15% for REA. His progeny performance backs up those stats as he has sired 99 progeny with records to ratio 102 at WW, 66 with a 103 ratio for YW, 66 with a 101 ratio for REA and 66 with a 105 Ratio for IMF. His progeny has not only preformed in the pasture but one of his earliest daughters was the 2015 International Reserve Grand Champion female. His progeny was also some of the most sought after herd sire prospects through the 2015 GT @ SCC bull sale with Suhn’s Trailblazer 918B3 commanding a price of $30,000 from Brushley Creek Brangus, Olla, LA and the second-high selling bull Suhn’s Trail Boss 30B3 selling to Cavender Brangus for $25,000. The 2015 GT @ Chimney Rock Cattle Co. also saw the high selling female Suhn’s Miss Augustus 30B9 bring $18,500 for ½ interest from Genesis Ranch and Cross F Cattle. progress we make to keep our customer base at the forefront of this highly competitive business. Through judicious and careful selection tremendous benefit to this breed can be realized through breeding up to Brangus using this method and establishing new and exciting genetic lines for calving ease, marbling, growth, and other economically important traits. The breeders within GT have not relegated themselves to just use one sire line or breeder for the genetic resources needed to make this program successful but have searched the entire Angus breed to procure the genetics that will best fit our programs and that of our

Through the unification of not only sire lines but also proven female and cow family lines that can create a whole new arsenal of genetic strength for our genetic pool and that of our customer base to benefit from. Although we are well aware that the integration of ULTRABLACKS is not for every Brangus breeder or for that matter all of our commercial customers, we are certain that it can make a very advantageous difference for those that can utilize the benefits of these genetic lines. GT has been overwhelmed with the feedback from our customer base, both registered and commercial, that have benefited from the utilization of these genetics.

The lot will be offered with Lot 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D entering the ring at one time. With each lot selling you will be buying an ET heifer calf plus the registered recipient she is nursing. The winning bidder will then be given the option to purchase all four at four times the purchase price or at his discretion select whichever lot or lots at times the money.

Whichever lots are not taken by the first purchaser will then be auctioned with that purchaser given the option to select from the remainder of the lot 2 offering or purchase the remaining Lot 2 animals at times the money. This will continue until all 4 ET heifers and their registered recipients in Lot 2 have been sold.

HOW THEY WILL SELL

Heifers will be penned at the sale site in pens ranging in

75 Brangus heifer pairs/springers. Joe Cavender has consistently sought out the best genetics in the bulls he purchases for his commercial herd and these home raised heifers reflect that quality. In addition to their built in genetics, Joe and Justin AI’d these heifers from their replacement pen to their elite Brangus sires Three D, Tradition, and Franchise. Heifers were bred on 5/14/2015 and were then cleaned up with calving ease GENETRUST Brangus bulls for 60 days. Fancy set of pairs that have been on winter grazing and represent superior genetics, plus the AI sired calves at side represent the most powerful LBW sires in the Brangus breed. After AI, the heifers were cleaned up for 60 days by calving ease GENETRUST Brangus bulls. Heifer should be mostly calved out by sale day and the calves have the genetics to add extra pounds at weaning. Really nice set of heifers that will weigh 1000 lbs at sale time with an excellent set of calves at side.

50 Ultrablack heifer pairs/springers. A fancy set of heifers AI’d to Three D, whose progeny come easy but have the genetics to grow like bigger BW power bulls. These heifers were bred on 5/13/2015 and then cleaned up with calving ease GENETRUST Brangus bulls for 60 days. A great set of Ultrablack females that will be mostly calved out by sale day with a really nice set of calves at side.

50 Ultrablack type pairs. Calves at side will be 60 to 90 days old by sale day and are sired by GENETRUST Brangus bulls. With this age of calves at side these females would make someone a tremendous set of recipient cows that would work in that capacity for years to come. Bidding

Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder without reserve.

The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final.

Terms

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that animals are fed and cared for, until loaded for shipment or until the expiration of 48 hours after the sale, whichever occurs first.

After 48 hours a maintenance fee of $3.50 per day will be assessed until pickup.

Cash Sales

All sales are for cash unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made with the seller or GENETRUST prior to the sale. Payment must be made within 30 days of the sale date.

Sight Unseen Purchases

Buyers may purchase cattle through GENETRUST personnel at auction or private treaty without viewing the cattle. For sight unseen purchases, the buyer has the right of inspection at the time of delivery. If the animal is deemed unsatisfactory, it may be reloaded on the delivery truck at no obligation to the buyer. All transportation expenses will be the responsibility of GENETRUST. If the purchaser is unable to view the animal upon delivery that purchaser would have one week to deem the animal as unsatisfactory. In this instance the buyer may, at their expense, return the animal to GENETRUST for a refund of the purchase price. DVAuction purchases do not fall under this guarantee.

Certificate of Registry

A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the purchaser for each registered animal within in 45 days of proper settlement.

Health

Interstate health papers suitable for interstate shipment will be furnished on all animals as required by federal and state regulations.

Announcements

Any changes from the information of any kind in this catalog will be provided in a sale day supplement sheet or announced from the auction block and such information shall take precedence over cataloged information.

Breeding Guarantee

1. The seller guarantees all animals to be breeders with the exception of: a) Calves under 12 months of age at the time of sale; b) animals shown by purchaser after sale in which the breeding guaranteed (if any) shall be agreed upon between the seller and the buyer;

c) animals who suffer injury or disease following the sale; d) animals subjected to gross negligence by willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser.

2. The seller guarantees that all bulls are breeders for a period of 90 days following the initial turnout date with buyers herd as long as this occurs within 60 days of date of sale. This only applies to bulls that are at least 12 months old at time of sale and have not been allowed to run with the herd until at least 14 months of age. Seller does not guarantee death loss or injury.

Any bull which settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by competent veterinarians, mutually agreed upon by buyer and seller, during any six-month period of trial (provided for in paragraph 2 of the section of these sales terms and conditions entitled “Option and Privilege of Return and Adjustment”), shall be considered a breeder unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller the seller makes no guarantees with respect to the bull’s ability to freeze semen.

3. Cows with calves at their side are presumed to be breeders with no further fertility guarantee.

4. “Safe-in-calf ” females are guaranteed by the seller to have been examined by a competent veterinarian or reproductive technician and determined to be safe-in-calf by examination or other proven method (e.g., ultrasound, pregnancy blood tests, and rectal palpation).

5. Exposed females are not guaranteed to be with calf 6. “Open” females are guaranteed by the seller to be without calf.

7. Donor females: a.) Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, a female that has been used in an embryo transfer program is not guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale. b.) Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, a female is not guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale, when that female is to be used, or attempted to be used, in an embryo transfer program.

8. The seller makes the following guarantees with respect to all “pregnant recipients”: (i) that the female is pregnant, (ii) that the resulting calf is of the pedigree represented, and (iii) that the resulting calf is of the sex represented (if so represented).

Semen

1. Unless otherwise agreed by the buyer and the seller, with respect to the sale of semen the seller makes no guarantees with respect to the performance or characteristics of such semen and the buyer is purchasing such semen “as is.”

Embryos

1. Embryos being offered for sale will be sold “as is” unless the seller provides additional guarantees.

Privileges of Return or Adjustment: Options

1. With the exception of any applicable transportation expenses described herein, a seller shall never be liable to a buyer for an amount greater than the original selling price of any animal sold under these Sales Terms and Conditions.

2. Unless otherwise stated, all claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing to the seller within 180 days following the sale of the animal in question.

3. If an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the seller if it is in good condition and complies with the health requirements of the seller’s state. At the option of the buyer, the seller may issue a credit to the buyer for use in a future purchase or provide an animal of equal value subject to the approval of buyer. If the buyer exercises either such option, the claim shall be deemed fully and satisfactorily resolved. However, in the event that the buyer requests a refund of the purchase price, the seller may, at its option, either issue a refund of the full purchase price or, shall have 180 days from the date the animal is returned to the seller’s farm to conduct a trial to demonstrate the returned animal is a breeder. Refund of the full purchase price or demonstrated proof that the animal is a breeder during the test trial shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement of the claim. Any expense incurred for transporting an animal claimed to be a non-breeder will be the responsibility of the buyer, except that the seller will be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the buyer’s farm and the location where the sale took place. If the seller proves the animal to be a breeder, it will be the obligation of the buyer to take delivery of the animal and pay all transportation expenses.

4. If a female sold as “safe in calf ” proves not to be in calf, the seller must make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the first anniversary of the date of the sale.

5. If a female represented as “safe in calf ” to a certain bull at the time of sale proves to have been bred to a different bull, the seller must make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the first anniversary of the date of sale.

6. If a female sold as “open” proves to be with calf, the buyer may return the animal to the farm of the seller prior to calving for a refund of the full purchase price or for another animal of equal value, whichever is acceptable to the buyer. The Seller is responsible for all transportation expenses.

7. If an animal (including the offspring of a pregnant recipient) is sold and through parentage verification is proven to have incorrect parentage, as represented by the animal’s certificate of registration and for which correct parentage can be determined, the seller is obligated to make satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price only to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the second anniversary of the date of the sale. Those animals upon which parentage verification has been recorded with the IBBA will be so noted in the sale catalog or in a supplement sheet. At time of purchase it becomes the buyer’s responsibility to adhere to the rules of the IBBA regarding parentage verification for animals used for semen and embryo production.

8. If the resulting calf of a pregnancy is not of the sex represented at the time of the sale, the seller is obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price to the buyer or, at the buyer’s option, refund the purchase price upon the return of the animal to the farm of the seller. Any claim for adjustment or refund under this paragraph must be made in writing to the seller on or before the first anniversary date of the sale.

9. Unless stated otherwise, all transportation expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the buyer, except that the seller will be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the buyer’s farm and the location where the sale took place.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding upon both. Other than the guarantees and warranties stated above, no other warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction.

Neither GENETRUST, the ranch the sale is being held on, nor any other sale consultant or persons connected with the management of this GENETRUST sale, assumes any liability, legal or otherwise.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION LONGRANGE® (eprinomectin) should be given only by subcutaneous injection in front of the shoulder at the recommended dosage level of 1 mg eprinomectin per kg body weight (1 mL per 110 lb body weight).

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS Withdrawal Periods and Residue Warnings Animals intended for human consumption must not be slaughtered within 48 days of the last treatment.

This drug product is not approved for use in female dairy cattle 20 months of age or older, including dry dairy cows. Use in these cattle may cause drug residues in milk and/or in calves born to these cows.

A withdrawal period has not been established for pre-ruminating calves.

Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

Animal Safety Warnings and Precautions The product is likely to cause tissue damage at the site of injection, including possible granulomas and necrosis. These reactions have disappeared without treatment. Local tissue reaction may result in trim loss of edible tissue at slaughter.

Observe cattle for injection site reactions. If injection site reactions are suspected, consult your veterinarian. This product is not for intravenous or intramuscular use.

Protect product from light. LONGRANGE® (eprinomectin) has been developed specifically for use in cattle only. This product should not be used in other animal species.

When to Treat Cattle with Grubs LONGRANGE effectively controls all stages of cattle grubs. However, proper timing of treatment is important. For the most effective results, cattle should be treated as soon as possible after the end of the heel fly (warble fly) season.

Environmental Hazards Not for use in cattle managed in feedlots or under intensive rotational grazing because the environmental impact has not been evaluated for these scenarios.

Other Warnings: Underdosing and/or subtherapeutic concentrations of extendedrelease anthelmintic products may encourage the development of parasite resistance. It is recommended that parasite resistance be monitored following the use of any anthelmintic with the use of a fecal egg count reduction test program.

TARGET ANIMAL SAFETY Clinical studies have demonstrated the wide margin of safety of LONGRANGE® (eprinomectin). Overdosing at 3 to 5 times the recommended dose resulted in a statistically significant reduction in average weight gain when compared to the group tested at label dose. Treatment-related lesions observed in most cattle administered the product included swelling, hyperemia, or necrosis in the subcutaneous tissue of the skin. The administration of LONGRANGE at 3 times the recommended therapeutic dose had no adverse reproductive effects on beef cows at all stages of breeding or pregnancy or on their calves.

Not for use in bulls, as reproductive safety testing has not been conducted in males intended for breeding or actively breeding. Not for use in calves less than 3 months of age because safety testing has not been conducted in calves less than 3 months of age.

STORAGE Store at 77° F (25° C) with excursions between 59° and 86° F (15° and 30° C).
