Safety The Trout River Trailer is not “just a trailer”, it is also a powerful machine with various mechanisms that could be potentially dangerous, the following are some general safety rules pertaining to trout river trailers: • • • • • •

Never enter trailer with conveyor in operation When conveyor is running be sure to keep all body parts, clothing, etc. clear of inspection doors, conveyor belt, or any other moving parts; failure to do so could result in serious injury Be aware of the tailgate position, and stand clear when opening or closing When trailer is unloading be sure to stand clear of the rear of the trailer, as to not get injured from load exiting the tub Ladder is designed for a maximum of 250 pounds; do not exceed this limit. Top ladder rung is not meant to be a step, it is only there as a “hand-hold”; do not use as a step Trailer hydraulic system is designed to run in access of 2500 psi, this amount of pressure could be very dangerous; always take care when connecting hydraulic lines, that it is done properly, and replace any damaged hydraulic components immediately. Always be sure system pressure is relieved before maintenance o Always connect return line first and disconnect last Air system can also be dangerous, be aware of air lines, that they are not damaged, and relieve system pressure before maintenance When working on the trailer, be sure all power systems are disconnected, unless otherwise instructed or needed, always be aware of present dangers

Power Take-off • •
To properly run a Trout River Trailer, you will need a 120% pto o This means the output will be 20% over engine speed The pto will be attached to the transmission, and will power the pump

Pump • • •
The Trout River Trailers hydraulic system is rated for up to 2800 psi of pressure and 35 gpm of flow, this means the hydraulic pump must be capable of the same For this reason, a 3000psi pump is necessary The pump gets bolted directly to the pto o It is fed from the hydraulic tank, and feeds the combo/relief valve o Suction line must be 2”, all other lines should be 1”

Combination Valve •

The combo valve basically acts as a pressure relief, while providing high and low settings, which are controlled from the cab o The high side would be set somewhere around the max of a live bottom (2800psi) and would be for live bottom use o The low side would be set at a lower pressure and used for things that require less pressure, such as a dump trailer (1800psi) The combo valve is handy if one truck is used for various applications If the truck is only being used for a live bottom, a relief valve may be used in place of a combo valve This valve would be fed from the pump, and feed the trailer o There would also be the relief line which goes back to the tank

Filter System • •

We recommend a dual filter head with a filter gauge The filters we recommend are a 10 micron filter with a 50 gpm rating. With 2 filters this makes it capable of handling 100 gpm, which means the filters will never get overloaded on our system, which runs at max of 35 gpm The filter system is fed from the trailers return line, and feeds the tank

Tank • • • •

A min. 75 gallon aluminum tank is recommended when running a live bottom This capacity is required to keep the system running cool during heavy use An aluminum tank is recommended because aluminum dissipates heat faster than steel o The pump and tank should be no more than 6-8 feet apart It is important that a 2” diffuser is installed on the return side of the tank o The return line diffuser reduces aeration in hydraulic fluid as it returns to the reservoir. It slows and manages the return flow, reducing foaming, turbulence, and noise. It also keeps the hot returning oil from heating up the oil in the reservoir. The tank is fed from the filters, and feeds the hydraulic pump
