Safety The Trout River Trailer is not “just a trailer”, it is also a powerful machine with various mechanisms that could be potentially dangerous, the following are some general safety rules pertaining to trout river trailers: • • • • • •

Never enter trailer with conveyor in operation When conveyor is running be sure to keep all body parts, clothing, etc. clear of inspection doors, conveyor belt, or any other moving parts; failure to do so could result in serious injury Be aware of the tailgate position, and stand clear when opening or closing When trailer is unloading be sure to stand clear of the rear of the trailer, as to not get injured from load exiting the tub Ladder is designed for a maximum of 250 pounds; do not exceed this limit. Top ladder rung is not meant to be a step, it is only there as a “hand-hold”; do not use as a step Trailer hydraulic system is designed to run in access of 2500 psi, this amount of pressure could be very dangerous; always take care when connecting hydraulic lines, that it is done properly, and replace any damaged hydraulic components immediately. Always be sure system pressure is relieved before maintenance o Always connect return line first and disconnect last Air system can also be dangerous, be aware of air lines, that they are not damaged, and relieve system pressure before maintenance When working on the trailer, be sure all power systems are disconnected, unless otherwise instructed or needed, always be aware of present dangers

Our 4” pitch roller chain has a greater break strength than any other live bottom conveyor chain Each strand’s break strength is 70,000lbs o With a strand on each side of the belt this means it would take 140,000lbs of horizontal pull to break our conveyor This strength gives us the ability to add a reversing option, and not risk straining our chain o It is more difficult to reverse than to unload regularly ▪ Note: reversing option comes standard on our “live bottom” line of trailers Pictured below are Trout rivers chain (Figure 1) and a competitor’s chain (Figure 2) With a bigger chain, this also means Trout River uses bigger drive sprockets, which stand up to more abuse

Roller chain on a hardened rail • • •

Our conveyor chain is a roller style chain (Figure 1) The rollers run on a hardened steel rail that spans the length of the trailer (Figure 2) When loaded, the bulk of the load is supported by these rollers o This means that the friction is much less that a drag style conveyor chain o This puts less strain on the conveyor and the hydraulic system Hardened steel rail means it is less likely to wear, or deform if any foreign object enters the rail space

Branded chain is tested in house •

Our chain has the Trout River logo stamped on the side (Figure 1) o This means we get the same chain from our suppliers every time, and cannot be replaced with lesser quality if the suppliers stock gets low Each batch our supplier provides is spot tested by Trout River, with our in-house chain puller (Figure 2) o Our puller uses hydraulic power to pull chain to its max capacity o This assures the quality is maintained o The tested piece of chain is discarded after testing

Bolt in replaceable crossbars •

Trout River’s crossbars are bolted to our chain via steel tabs that protrude from the side of the chain (Figure 1) o This means that if a crossbar becomes damaged, it is replaced with a new one by simply removing and reinstalling bolts through the inspection door Many competitors use a crossbar that is welded directly to the chain (Figure 2) o With this type of conveyor, when a crossbar becomes damaged it must be cut out, and a new one welded in. If the inspection door does not offer sufficient space to work, the conveyor must be removed for this maintenance Figure 1

Teflon on crossbars •
Each of our crossbars have 3 Teflon “pucks” (Figure 1) that line up with the top of 3 steel Ibeams (Figure 2) that span the length of the trailer

The Teflon only makes contact with I beams when fully loaded. The Teflon combined with our roller chain a provides smoother unload with less wear and friction Competitors often use a steel on steel system, which promotes wear, and increases friction

High Quality Belt •

The Live Bottom and Hycube Trailers Come standard with a multi-purpose belt, good for hot and cold materials o For excessively hot materials, a hot product belt is available The Crop Hopper comes standard with a food grade agricultural belt o The belt has migrating strips, these will stop material from reaching the conveyor chain, even if it makes it through the seals Our belt is bolted to every second crossbar, so the belt is not strained, and the conveyor chain handles the workload Belt is spliced with a durable belt lacing All 3 belts are available on a “retrofit conveyor” explained in the next page Figure 1
