A inspiração da estampa, portanto, vem das cores de suas plumas e penas, e se apresenta em cinza claro, carregando o efeito de sua textura. Before Austria became a republic, the Palace Schoennbrunn was the home of the emperors and housed many peacocks in its gardens. Sua história e de sua família tem muito presente o conceito da hospitalidade, seja no segmento hoteleiro ou no de restaurantes. Para você, o que definiria melhor o termo?

Oferecer o melhor ambiente e o melhor serviço com uma simplicidade e uma elegância ímpares.

Quis adotar esse conceito para todo o Grupo. Ele se tornou nosso lema.

Consegue se sentir em casa em algum dos seus empreendimentos?

Eu me sinto muito mais um restaurateur do que qualquer coisa. A maioria das campanhas de hotéis dizem para você se sentir em casa. Estamos seguindo: “Se você se sentir em casa no meu hotel, estou fazendo tudo errado”. Não é para se sentir em casa. Hotel também não é para morar. Morei aqui, uma vez, por dois meses. Chegou uma hora em que eu queria ir embora. Não gosto de excesso de serviço.

A entrada no setor hoteleiro pode ser considerada uma evolução da arte de receber que o consagrou?

Desde que abri o primeiro restaurante eu quis ter um hotel. Nunca fiz pelo dinheiro, nunca fui ligado nisso. Mas subir na vida, para mim, era alcançar o degrau da hotelaria. Meu desejo era que a marca Fasano fosse reconhecida internacionalmente.

Até hoje, quando estou em algum lugar do mundo e uma pessoa reconhece nossa marca, fico satisfeito e orgulhoso.

Pensa no legado que deixará? Quais são seus planos futuros? É muito difícil encontrar algo que de fato a gente goste e se sinta apto a fazer. A partir daí acho que tudo o que ocorreu na minha trajetória foi consequência. Momentos melhores e piores. Mas, de certa maneira, fui “impregnado” pela profissão.

Não me vejo hoje fazendo nada além disso, o que, na minha opinião, é uma rara sorte: amar o que se faz. Acredito que esse seja o meu legado. Eu adoro deixar a cabeça livre para as ideias surgirem. Sou muito inquieto, estou sempre pensando numa nova unidade. Vira e mexe digo que este ou aquele será meu último empreendimento. Mentira!

Your story has so much to do with the concept of hospitality whether in hotels or restaurants. For you, what’s the best definition of hospitality?

Offer the best environment and the best service with unmatched simplicity and elegance. I wanted to adopt this concept for the whole Group. It has become our motto.

Do you feel at home at your hotels?

I feel much more a restaurateur than anything. Most hotel campaigns tell you to feel at home. What we are saying is: “If you feel at home in my hotel, I’m doing everything wrong.” It’s not to feel at home. Hotels are not for living in either. I lived here once, for two months.

There was a point I wanted to leave. I don’t like staying longer than I should.

Entering the hotel segment can be considered an evolution in the world of hospitality - how did you get into it?

Since I opened my first restaurant, I wanted to have a hotel. I never did it for the money, I was never concerned with that. But to rise in life for me was to reach the Hotel step. My wish was that the brand Fasano was recognized internationally. To this day, when I’m somewhere in the world and a person recognizes our brand, I’ am joyful and proud.

Do you think about the legacy that you will leave?

What are your future plans?

It is very difficult to find something that we actually enjoy and feel accomplished in. Everything that happened in my career was a result. Both the better times and the worse times. But, in a way, I was “born” into the profession. I don’t see myself doing anything but that. Which, in my opinion, is a rare gift: loving what you do. I believe that this is my legacy. I love leaving my mind free to come up with new ideas. I am very restless and I’m always thinking of a new unit. I always say that this or that will be my last venture. Lies!

How does the long stay system work?

On JFL Living projects, we have a system of governance with an organized structure, which guarantees excellence in service delivery. This includes: a 24-hour reception desk with a bilingual concierge and receptionists, a 24hour gym, two pools with a spa (25 meter lane), bike sharing, central laundry, wifi, daily housekeeping and pay-per-use services, including pet care, beauty and personal care. These utilities also include a great location and fantastic options for relaxing.

Is it a concept for executives visiting big cities?

The long stay format, with a period rental of over six months, is a model that is already used in the United States, Asia and Europe and has shown itself to be a great choice for executives,students, single, divorced, childless couples and couples with adult children. How do you decorate and bring the concept of hospitality into a high-turnover venture?

Ela vem de uma paixão, uma verdadeira doação. É uma busca constante por encantar, surpreender os hóspedes. Buscar a excelência em todos os detalhes e momentos além de, claro, inspirar as equipes a também cuidarem dos clientes com dedicação e carinho.

O que considera diferenciais essenciais entre os hotéis de luxo?

Hotelaria de luxo não é mais uma indústria de serviço e sim uma indústria de experiência.

Acredito que essa seja a grande diferença para o mercado, pois a expectativa do cliente vai além do mero serviço atencioso. Para encantar o hóspede é importante estar atento e ser empático, criando um vínculo emocional. Muitas vezes, algo singelo, uma simples recordação afetiva, encanta e surpreende o cliente, este é o luxo emocional.

Como a hospitalidade interfere em sua vida pessoal? Vira um lifestyle?

100%! Como em outras profissões, quando se é apaixonado pelo trabalho é natural que a vida pessoal e profissional estejam conectadas; a hotelaria me faz viver esse lifestyle no dia a dia.

Como tem sido o desafio de ser responsável pelo primeiro hotel da rede Fairmont no Brasil?

Foi uma jornada desafiadora e empolgante, somente possível graças a uma equipe de excelentes gestores que acreditaram no projeto e no desafio de tornar esse sonho realidade: trazer um novo conceito de hotelaria para o Brasil, esse lindo presente ao Rio de Janeiro. É uma grande satisfação ver essa programação de experiências únicas sendo criadas para levar nossos hóspedes a conhecer o Rio de Janeiro com um novo olhar.

Hospitalidade pode ser ensinada ou tem a ver com o DNA da pessoa?

Com certeza há muito da personalidade da pessoa em ser empático, social, resiliente e, sobretudo, em ter foco e atenção aos detalhes. No entanto, com motivação e dedicação é possível realizar qualquer sonho e desenvolver habilidades de hospitalidade.

How would you define the art of great hospitality?

It comes from a passion, a true gift. It is a constant quest to enchant and surprise the guests. Striving for excellence in all details and moments and, of course, inspiring teams to take care of customers with dedication and affection.

What do you consider as differential in luxury hotels?

Luxury hospitality is no longer an industry of service, but rather an industry of experience. I believe that this is the biggest difference for the market, because customer expectations go beyond mere attentive service. delight guests, it is important to be attentive and empathetic, creating an emotional bond. Often something simple, such as a heartfelt memory, delights and surprises the customer. This is what defines emotional luxury.

How does hospitality interfere in your personal life?

Is it a lifestyle?

100%! As in other professions, when you are passionate about your work, it is natural that your personal life and professional life are connected; Hospitality makes me live this lifestyle on a daily basis.

What are the challenges of being responsible for the first Fairmont hotel in Brazil?

It was a challenging and exciting journey, only possible thanks to a team of excellent managers who believed in the project and in the challenge of making this dream come true: bringing a new hotel concept to Brazil, this beautiful gift to Rio de Janeiro. It has been a great pleasure to see our design of unique experiences being actually created to invite our guests to see Rio de Janeiro in a whole new light.

Hospitality - can it be taught or does it have to do with a person’s DNA? It certainly takes a lot of a person’s personality to be empathetic, social, resilient and, above all, to have focus and attention to detail. However, with motivation and dedication, it is possible to accomplish any dream and develop hospitality skills.

O que mudou na sua percepção da arquitetura desde que começou na profissão?

Eu continuo acreditando que a arquitetura conta a história sobre o nosso tempo neste planeta e a nossa relação com o espaço em que vivemos.

Apesar de vivermos em uma época que tende a valorizar o que é novo e jovem, eu acho que a beleza do tempo é que ele te permite sustentar um olhar mais maduro com relação ao mundo. Para mim, é extremamente enriquecedor poder inserir as minhas experiências de vida em projetos arquitetônicos ou em design de produtos.

Como recebeu o desafio de conceber o projeto do primeiro hotel seis estrelas do país?

Foi uma verdadeira honra poder desenvolver este projeto com a Oetker Collection - uma empresa que admiramos e que é referência internacional no ramo de hotelaria - em uma área que faz parte da história de São Paulo, emoldurada pelos jardins projetados por Burle Marx.

Quais foram as linhas de criação presentes no projeto do Tangará?

Toda a arquitetura de interiores foi planejada a partir das obras de arte especialmente selecionadas para os ambientes: elas são o fio condutor da narrativa que sustenta o projeto.

O que mais me inspirou foi uma aquarela do século XVIII do Debret, com matizes acinzentados que dizem tudo sobre o olhar que o forasteiro sempre teve do Brasil. A partir dela, foi criada a paleta de cores do projeto. No lobby, a obra de Laura Vinci, feita em folhas de ouro, remonta à história do Brasil Colônia e da extração do metal.

Qual é a sua marca registrada?

O que realmente marca o nosso trabalho é a maneira como conduzimos os nossos processos, seja em projetos de arquitetura ou em design de produto. Somos pesquisadores dedicados, procuramos entender o contexto, a história, a arquitetura vernacular. O desafio é sempre tentar inserir no projeto referências que proporcionem um diálogo com esse contexto. É uma busca por tentar entender o passado e projetar o futuro.

Este é o diálogo que a gente procura estabelecer com a arquitetura.

What has changed in your perception of architecture since you started on this field?

I still believe that architecture recounts the story about our time on this planet and about our relationship with the space in which we live. Although we live in an age that tends to value what is new and young, I think the beauty of time is that it allows you to obtain a more mature view of the world. It is extremely enriching to be able to insert my life experiences in projects, both architectural or product design.

How did you react when you were asked to design the first six star hotel in the country?

It was a real honor to be able to develop this project with the Oetker Collection - a company that we admire and which is internationally renowned in the hotel business - in an area that is a part of Sao Paolo’s history, framed by the gardens designed by Burle Marx.

What was the creative process while developing Tangará Hotel?

All interior architecture was designed referencing Artwork that was selected especially for the environments in which they lived: they served as the author of the narrative that underlies the project. What inspired me most was a watercolor from the XVIII century from Debret, with grayish hues that says a lot about how outsiders have typically viewed Brazil. From this piece, we created the palette of design colors. In the lobby, Laura Vinci’s work, made of gold leaves, echoes the history of the colony of Brazil and the process of metal extraction.

What is your trademark?

What really marks our work is the way we that we conduct our processes, whether in architectural projects or in the design of the product. We are dedicated researchers: we seek to understand the context, history and vernacular architecture. The challenge is always to try to insert references into the project that provide a dialogue within the context. It’s a challenge trying to both understand the past and to predict the future. This is the dialogue that we seek to establish within the architecture.
