We live on a planet inhabited by almost 8 billion people, most connected through the technological wonders that fit in the palm of our hand which are, just like us, sensitive to touch. The gods have migrated from Olympus to stories on Instagram: a social network that functions as a window into one’s life. The global village foreseen in the last century by communication genius Marshall McLuhan is well established: we are many, we are alike, and we are interconnected. In the fast-pace life in which we live, time has become the greatest luxury – we expend our time in the present to gain some freedom later in life. We share our own image all over social networks and are bombarded in the same way by a visual symphony 24/7, and it’s nonstop. So, in this brave new world, what is your true essence? In search of the real ‘me’, we launched the #True_Selfie tag - a campaign which promotes the truth behind social networks, shows the real ‘me’ and highlights comfort, warmth and peace; elements which are fundamental to Trousseau’s products which represent everyday life with love, happiness, and a touch of escapism: after all, disconnecting is the only way to reconnect. In pursuit of the perfect selfie and the perfect post, true human essence will be captured by the photographers’ lens, in a photo shoot portraying everyday life, and without the poses.
