SITE CONTEXT

The site is located in perifhery of Silchar town which is a rural locality, Surrounded by small village in the south and lush paddy field in the north.The site is also favoured with scenic hill views all around. It has a tropical humid climate.

DESIGN

The design is primarily based on fuctionalism which is a concept associated with mordernism. Here the view of Louis H. Sullivan “form follows function” is been used to define the shape and form of the structure. The space is divided into two parts, the formal area for the artist and his Visitors and the informal area for the family,

DESIGN BRIEF

The Brief was to design a residence for an artist who has two small kids providing a personal workspace.

The facade material, brick is been used as due to its availability and it fits well for the climatic context of the region.

SITE CONTEXT

The site is located in perifhery of Silchar town which is a sub-urban locality, Surrounded by small factories, godowns, residences and a wetland in the east.The site is also favoured with cool breeze and great view of the wetland. It also have a playground in the north.

DESIGN BRIEF

The Brief was to design a ten units appartment building containing seven 2BHK and three 3BHK unit.

DESIGN

The design is very straight forward and simple. It uses the site strength to lead the design forward, the view of the wetland and the cool breeze coming from it act as the main focal point. Most of the openings and balconies are provided in the east. Each and every apartment units have a view of the wetland without compromising of the privacy by providing each units apart from each other. It is done so by giving a courtyard in between two 2bhk units and also by creating a different block for 3bhk units.

SITE CONTEXT

The site is located in calicut near thondayad bypass, a suburban locality. Surrounded by upper middle class families, which is rapidly growing, making it a perfect location for comercial complex. Its a contour site. The site is also favoured with scenic lowland views on the back side.

DESIGN BRIEF

The Brief was to design a shoping complex for the area which will attract people perticularly upper middle class, who are dominant there. Providing high quality service with out compromising the profits of the owner.

DESIGN

The mail concept is to blend tranparency and lightness into the structure. It is achieve so by maximizing the flow of air and light by restricting the use of bulky block, thus spliting it into three blocks. It is not leterally a seperate entity but a main functional block connecting all with corridoor and atrium giving the feel of segregation. And through which it allows light and air to spread all over the structure.

The facade is done with perforated aluminium panels in order to provide privacy as well as illumination.

SITE CONTEXT

The 2 acre site consists of coffee, pepper and areca-nut plantations located 3 km uphills from vellamunda town. The area is a sloping terrain bounded by scenic hills and having non perineal streams. The adjoining areas has been inhabited by tribal communities which has been allocated by the government.

DESIGN BRIEF

To prepare a master plan for the full-fledged unique Eco resort with all major amenities. The surrounding scenic views, ecology, contours and vegetation of the site to be utilised to its fullest to develop this land as an environment friendly resort to serve as a retreat to any visitor to be with nature.

DESIGN

The main concept of the design is to create mysteriousness in the space. It is done so by using the principle -not showing all. It is said that restricting the views make users curious and create a sense to explore more, what lies beyond. Walls, trees, rocks etc are use to block or control what users are seeing.

The site features such as water bodies, rocks and existing vegetation is utilised to achieve an environment friendly and sustainable Architecture.

Basicaly the site is divided into two parts by the stream, Northern part contain all the public spaces (reception, service block, restaurant, spa, Gym, amphitheatre etc), whie the southern part contain private spaces (cottages, Childrens play ares).
