Stride HA A Fast Acting Mobility Supplement STRIDE HA is a fast acting liquid formulation for the nutritional maintenance of healthy cartilage and joints in horses, with the additional benefit of Hyaluronic Acid. All performance horses suffer from the rigours of daily training and competition. In particular there is enormous pressure on the articular surfaces. Healthy cartilage and adequate synovial fluid are essential to ensure that the equine athlete can withstand these pressures. Performance horses are pre-disposed to increased wear and tear on their joints. This can lead to an imbalance between the production and breakdown of cartilage tissue. CALPHORMIN has undergone significant trialing in broodmares to validate the efficiency of the formula. 38 foals from 5 different stud farms were x-rayed to establish the incidence of growth related problems in their hocks and patella (right and left) and fetlocks (right and left, front and back). The subsequent pregnancy of the mares of the same foals was monitored, but on this occasion CALPHORMIN was fed in addition to their normal diet (which remained unchanged). Consideration had also been given to the choice of stallions to ensure no genetic effect could compromise the results of the study. At a similar time of year the siblings of the second group of foals, born to the same dams, were also X-rayed according to the same protocol. The results showed a statistically significant and marked reduction in the prevalence of joint lesions (p<0.05).

Summary Nutritional imbalances have been recognised as one potential factor in the development of DOD in young, growing horses. CALPHORMIN helps to balance the diet with nutrients known to be critical to proper skeletal development. In developing horses, the major nutrients of concern are protein, energy, calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc and lysine. Minimum requirements in horses for each of these nutrients have been published by the National Research Council (NRC, 1989); however, in some instances the optimum intake to sustain normal growth may be significantly higher. CALPHORMIN provides a supplemental source of all of these nutrients in a carefully balanced and palatable formulation which provides for the likely elevated requirements of these essential nutrients for optimum skeletal development, and production of sound and robust athletic horses.

GNF Trial Results in Horses Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS) is a debilitating condition which has been increasingly recognized in recent years as a reason for poor performance in competition horses. Up to 93% of Racehorses and 60% of Sports horses have been found to suffer from ulceration after endoscopic examination.

During 2006 a study was undertaken to assess the benefits of feeding GNF in a National Hunt Thoroughbred training yard. Gastroscopic examination was performed on 17 horses after a fasting period of 20 hours, and water was withheld for 4 hours prior to scoping. The horses were then divided into 3 groups; Clear (ulcer score 0), Mild to Moderate (ulcer score 1-2), and Severe (ulcer score 3-4.) 11 horses had their normal rations supplemented with GNF, while 6 horses with a similar range of ulcer scores were retained as a negative control.

After the trial period of 6 weeks the entire sample size of 17 horses were re-scoped and evidence of improvement/deterioration was recorded. The 11 horses which had their feed supplemented saw a reduction in average ulcer score from 1.82 to 0.91, a reduction of 50%. The average ulcer score for the 6 negative controls increased from 1.5 to 1.66, an increase of 11%. In the group of horses with mild to moderate ulcer scores the results were even more convincing with the 4 negative control’s ulcer score increasing by 40% and the 7 horses with mild to moderate ulceration fed GNF recording a reduction in average score of 70%. From the results of the study it can be concluded that GNF is a useful nutritional support for horses which are suffering from EGUS, and that the benefits of feeding are particularly marked where the horse is suffering from mild to moderate ulceration.

GNF Paste Gut Nutrition Formula GNF Paste is a Complementary Feedingstuff which is suitable for feeding to horses suffering from gastric disturbances exhibiting as depressed appetite, weight loss, poor performance, or cribbing. It contains: • Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Hydroxide which can stabilise the gastric fluids • Seaweed Extract (Laminaria Hyperborea) which can protect the non glandular portion of the stomach from acid splash • Fructooligosaccharides which form a food substrate for the beneficial bacteria in the hind gut • Glutamine which is an important amino acid for the repair of epithelial cells • Threonine is an amino acid, restriction of which may limit intestinal mucin synthesis • Slippery Elm, a complex mixture of polysaccharides rich in mucilage Instructions for Proper Use: If your Veterinary Surgeon diagnoses Gastric Ulceration they may recommend a course of medical treatment. GNF Paste can be a useful nutritional adjunct. After completion of the recommended treatment feed two 80g servings per day for 14 days (one 80g serving in the morning prior to feeding, and one 80g serving prior to the afternoon/evening feed). GNF Paste can also be fed for maintenance of a healthy digestive tract by feeding one 80g serving per day (40g in the morning prior to feeding, and 40g prior to the afternoon/evening feed). Sandxpell Bulk Forming Fibre Sandxpell is a complementary feedingstuff for horses which contains Psyllium Husk, a bulk forming fibre. It is suitable for feeding as a nutritional adjunct to horses grazing on sandy soil, or horses spending significant time in sand arenas. Horses maintained on sandy lands or short pastures are at risk of sand colic as they ingest the sand/dirt. If sand or soil becomes accumulated in the gastrointestinal tract it can cause impaction in the gut. With the inclusion of Psyllium Husk, Sandxpell encourages motility of the the gastrointestinal tract. Sandxpell contains Psyllium Husk: • Psyllium Husk is primarily used to assist in the removal of accumulated sand in the intestinal tract • Psyllium Husk is high in soluble fibre, as a result when water is mixed with the mucilage and hemicellulose in psyllium it forms a slippery/slimy mass. • Psyllium Husk acts as a sponge in the intestinal tract, absorbing water and waste material. This in turn results in the formation of a soft, bulky mass that passes through the colon faster. • Psyllium Husk has a prebiotic effect, encouraging the growth of beneficial bacteria in the hindgut.
