Lou Soppit Community Centre
Rocky Mountain House’s premier event rental facility, the Lou Soppit Community Centre is a community gathering hall with over 5,000 sq ft of rental space. Suitable for large events, weddings, special events and community meetings, weekend rates are available which can include the 930 sq ft commercial kitchen.
The Centennial Campground is located in the centre of Town across from Pioneer School. It has 15 sites with gravel pads, picnic tables and fire pits. Five sites have power, ten sites have no services. Washrooms with showers and potable water is available on site.

5 Steps to Train to be a Lifeguard!
Step 1: Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED
Step 2: Bronze Medallion
Judgement, knowledge, skill, and fitness – the four components of water rescue – form the basis of Bronze Medallion training. Candidates acquire the assessment and problem -solving skills needed to make good decisions in, on, and around the water.
Prerequisites: 13+ and current Intermediate First Aid
Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.
Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion and current Intermediate First Aid.
Trains lifeguards in safety supervision and rescue in a pool environment and prepares lifeguards to fulfill the role of professional facilitator of safe, enjoyable aquatics in a pool setting.
Prerequisites: Bronze Cross, 15+ and current Intermediate First Aid.

The Preschool Program works to ensure children become comfortable in the water and have fun developing a foundation of water skills. Activities to teach Water Smart® education key messages are incorporated into all levels.

The Parent & Tot Program structures in-water interaction between caregiver and child and the importance of play in developing water-positive attitudes and skills. Register by age as activities/ progressions are based on child development. Cost: $48
Squid (Preschool 1) (3 -5 years)
Squid is the first unparented swimming lesson. Children will learn to be comfortable in the water, get their face wet, blow bubbles, and learn basic floats with assistance. Cost: $55
Swordfish (Preschool 2) (3 -5 years)
Start here if your child is comfortable with their face being submerged in the pool and able to float on their own. Children will learn how to glide through the water and be introduced to flutter kick. Cost: $55
Orca (Preschool 4) (3-5 years)
Children are introduced to front crawl, swim longer distances, and learn the components of the Swim to Survive standard:
1. Jump into deep water.
2. Tread water 15 sec.
3. Swim 5m.

Dolphin (Preschool 3) (3 -5 years)
Children will learn how to float without assistance and flutterkick on their front and back up to 5m. Deep water activities are also introduced in this level with lifejackets. Cost: $55
Swim for Life Swimmer Program
Shark (Preschool 5) (3 -5 years)
Children will be introduced to back crawl and will increase their distances for all swims. If they complete this level they can go into Swimmer 2 when they reach 6 years old. Cost: $55
Age: 6 -16 Years
The Swimmer Program uses in -water practice for swimmers of any ability to develop swimming strokes and skills. Activities to teach Water Smart® education key messages are incorporated into all levels.
Swimmer 1
Designed to introduce children to the water in a safe and fun way. Swimmers will learn the basics of swimming: face in the water blowing bubbles, floating, gliding, and kicking. Cost: $55
Swimmer 4
Swimmers improve front and back crawl endurance and skill. Breaststroke is introduced. In this level they will complete the Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive Standard. Cost: $66
Swimmer 2
Children who are comfortable in the main pool and have a strong flutter kick will advance their skills, be introduced to front and back crawl, and deep water skills.

Swimmer 5
Swimmers improve technique for all strokes and learn more diving skills, treading water, and sprinting drills.

Swimmer 6
Swimmers are introduced to lifesaving skills: eggbeater, head-up front crawl, and different entries, and advance all stroke techniques. Cost: $66
Designed by our staff to transition swimmers to the next level. Swimmers will increase endurance and be introduced to combination glides in the main pool. Registration available only after instructor recommendation. Cost: $55
Canadian Swim Patrol
Canadian Swim Patrol is a fun and engaging program in which participants improve their swimming skills and strokes, learn basic rescue, first aid, and safety skills while engaging with people their own age and becoming strong leaders in our community! Register after completing Swimmer 6 - Leads into Bronze Awards
Rookie Patrol (Swimmer 7)
Develops individual fitness levels to meet a timed 100m swim and 350m workout. Water proficiency skills include: swim with clothes, ready position, foot-first and head -first surface dives. First Aid Skills include conducting a primary assessment and initiating EMS. Victim recognition and throwing assists are other key elements of the program.

Adult Swimmer Program
Ranger Patrol (Swimmer 8)
Enhances capability in the water, including stride entry, forward and backward underwater somersaults, lifesaving eggbeater kick and increased fitness levels to meet a 200m timed swim. Rescue skills involve an increased skill level in first aid basics, victim recognition and non -contact rescues. Cost: $74
Star Patrol (Swimmer 9)
An excellent preparation for the Bronze Star award. Star Patrol demands good physical conditioning and lifesaving judgment. Participants develop lifesaving and first aid skills; further refine front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke (100m each); and complete 600m workouts and 300m timed swims.
Cost: $74
The Adult Swimmer Program is for beginners or swimmers who want to improve their skills. Within the Adult Swimmer curriculum, participants set their own goals to develop water confidence and recognizable strokes.
Adult 1 - Beginner
Participants are taught the basics of swimming successfully including breath control underwater, floating, gliding, kicking, intro to deep water skills, front and back crawl. Cost: $74
Adult 2 - Intermediate
Participants learn front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke techniques. Participants will also be introduced to deep water skills. Cost: $74
Rocky Rapids - Junior Lifeguard Club
Adult 3 - Advanced
Participants are introduced to workouts, interval training, and endurance swims, to achieve the participant’s recreational swimming and fitness goals. Cost: $74
Join our Junior Lifeguard Club! This is a fun engaging program that has a place for anyone Swimmer 2 and up. With both recreational and competitive options, this is a great opportunity for participants to improve their swimming skills and have more water time than traditional lessons. Throughout this program they will improve lifesaving skills, leadership skills, and swimming abilities by setting personal goals. These can be achieved in practice and competition. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25m Cost: $94 + optional competition fees

Chair yoga motivates a sedentary population to move. Yoga poses are modified by using a chair (instead of getting down on the floor) and tailored to each participant. Breath is a tool to combat stress, fatigue and pain. The program will increase balance and flexibility as well as strengthen the body and mind.
GENTLE CARDIO KICKBOX Thursdays 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM
Cardio kickboxing is a group fitness class that combines martial arts techniques with light cardio. This workout challenges the beginner and elite athlete alike. Build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle with this fun and challenging workout.
GENTLE FITNESS Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Improve balance, muscle strength, heart health and your range of motion. By practicing functional exercises you can increase your energy to accomplish everyday tasks and improve your life. This class will use light hand weights to build strength as well as chairs to assist with balance and form. Movement and exercises will be tailored to individual needs and fitness levels.
GENTLE YOGA

A gentle and accessible movement practice that will use the wall, and other supports to develop a yoga practice that supports other fitness, helps work through physical ailments and limitations, and leaves the body to feel rejuvenated and restored. A combination of gentle movement, core strength development, accessible standing work, and some longer holds will build strength and release tension in the body. Class accommodates all body types, builds strength and flexibility and helps generate vitality and a sense well -being.
MORNING YOGA

Start your day rejuvenating your body, building strength and flexibility while relieving stiffness and mental fatigue. This class is excellent on it ’s own or as an addition to a morning fitness routine. Join us in doing work to support the body in preventing injury and maintaining mobility. There will be lots of modifications offered, suitable for all levels and body types.
Our certified spin instructor will lead you through a 45 -minute cardiovascular workout using low impact spin bikes. Music and voice are used to keep you inspired while you control everything from your speed and resistance to your intensity level; so your workout can be as challenging as you want it to be.

How will information about Camp be communicated?
Prior to the start of each week an email to parents/guardians will be sent detailing activities, local field trips and the week’s schedule, as well as what campers need to bring.
