Lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness.

Step 3 Bronze Cross
Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society ’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.
Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion and current Intermediate First Aid.

National Lifeguard
This certification prepares lifeguards to fulfill the role of professional facilitator of safe, enjoyable aquatics in a pool setting.

Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating participants in the Swim for Life® and Canadian Swim Patrol programs. Lifesaving Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating participants in the Bronze Medals, Distinction, Boat Rescue and Lifesaving Society CPR programs.

The Preschool Program works to ensure children become comfortable in the water and have fun developing a foundation of water skills. Activities to teach Water Smart® education key messages are incorporated into all levels.

Squid is the first unparented swimming lesson. Children will learn to be comfortable in the water, get their face wet, blow bubbles, and learn basic floats with assistance.

Develops individual fitness levels to meet a timed 100m swim and 350m workout. Water proficiency skills include: swim with clothes, ready position, foot -first and head -first surface dives. First Aid Skills include conducting a primary assessment and initiating EMS. Victim recognition and throwing assists are other key elements of the program.
Enhances capability in the water, including stride entry, forward and backward underwater somersaults, lifesaving eggbeater kick and increased fitness levels to meet a 200m timed swim. Rescue skills involve an increased skill level in first aid basics, victim recognition and non -contact rescues.

An excellent preparation for the Bronze Star award. Star Patrol demands good physical conditioning and lifesaving judgment. Participants develop lifesaving and first aid skills; further refine front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke (100m each); and complete 600m workouts and 300m timed swims.

The Adult Swimmer Program is for beginners or swimmers who want to improve their skills. Within the Adult Swimmer curriculum, participants set their own goals to develop water confidence and recognizable strokes.

Strength-based circuits that allow you to get a full body workout in by hitting a different muscle group at each station. Many variations offered to suit your needs and all levels of fitness welcome.
Choose your level of cardio intensity and then focus on core strengthening and stabilization exercises to help you build a solid foundation. More than just your typical sit-ups and crunches. Varying levels for every kind of body.
Focus on a powerlifting and strength-building foundation. You will learn how to squat, bench press and deadlift using barbells and other tools to help you build your own personal power goals in a safe and effective way.
This class combines the best of cardiovascular and strength training at a higher intensity level. Sessions focus on developing outstanding cardio, endurance and technique using functional movements and bodyweight, kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls and plyometrics.
This class gives you a full body workout by using the TRX suspension trainer along with your own body weight. Each participant controls the level of intensity by working at their own pace. Chair yoga motivates a sedentary population to move. Yoga poses are modified by using a chair (instead of getting down on the floor) and tailored to each participant. What can we expect each day?
Our Camp staff plan activities, crafts, group games, playground visits, special guests, swimming, spray park, and other local field trips geared at being active, creative, and having fun. Safety and inclusion is a priority for all our activities.
Where do I drop off my child?
The Camp is located at the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre. Drop off between 8am 9am and pick up between 4pm 5pm. Summer Day Camps run during July and August.
How will information about Camp be communicated?
Prior to the start of each week an email to parents/guardians will be sent detailing activities, local field trips and the week’s schedule, as well as what campers need to bring.

Our flag Football program will run again this year for kids aged 5-7. Get ready for some football. Starting May 20th they will go on Mondays and Wednesdays (days will be Tuesday and Thursday in the Fall) from 6-7pm. They will be on the small practice field.
