Change is Permanent
We know you read this title and thought “Change isn’t permanent, is it?” Well, yes and no. As the old saying goes – the only thing that stays the same is everything changes. The same is true about your EHR system; you can’t escape it, but you can prepare for it. Many of you already know that hospitals and clinics change their EHR every few years. There are several obvious reasons for this, including: •
They’re unsatisfied with their existing EHR vendor
•
Their legacy EHR is outdated
•
It isn’t keeping up with regulation changes – such as MU2 to MU3
•
Hospitals or clinics are acquired/sold
•
Health Systems, IDNs, ACOs want to consolidate different facilities in the network using multiple systems into a single EHR platform
•
Higher costs in maintaining their legacy system in house and annual contracts vs. “cloud based” “no contract” EHRs.
