As we approach Thanksgiving, it is a great time to recognize how fortunate and blessed we really are. It’s a time to reflect on the many blessings, we have already received throughout the year. We are gradually getting closer to the end of the year. A best practice is to show gratitude over everything, no matter how big or small in our lives. I can recall a song we used to sing in church. The song was called, “Count your blessings name them one by one, count your many blessings and see what God has done.” I know it is so easy to get overwhelmed with life, especially recognizing, and knowing what is going on in our world today. We must continue to trust in Jesus through it all; we cannot get distracted about what is going on around us. The Lord promised in (Isaiah 26:3 – The King James Version), “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. “ We must appreciate our current blessings we have now, by being thankful for what we currently have. By appreciating everything, that makes room for so much more later. 21-Day Challenge I have a 21-day challenge for each of you, each day I am requesting that you write down at least one thing you are grateful for. You have the option to do it in the morning, afternoon or before you go to bed. I would love to hear about how your 21- day challenge went, so please keep me posted. My hope is that you will enjoy the following scriptures from The King James Version O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works Psalm 9:1 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6-7

RELL BLACK
The interview for Rell Black a/k/a Dyrell Johnson was conducted by myself, Theresa Jordan. It was a real pleasure and honor to spend time asking questions and getting answers from Rell. Rell black is notorious for positively impacting our communities. He is continually enhancing the lives of others tremendously. Communities are being improved enormously by Rell through Community Healing Project Inc. Despite past circumstances that might have tried to interfere and prohibit favorable outcomes, the project was successfully created. In the beginning stages, the company was called Negus With Attitude, and after meeting and talking to Joyce Cusack, Rell decided to reevaluate the name of the organization, and the company became Community Healing Project Incorporated. Rell is a native of Daytona Beach, Florida, and instead of choosing to leave, he remained in his hometown, faithfully creating ways to get the communities back on track by putting mechnisms in place. Mechanisms established to heal people within and outside of the surrounding neighborhoods.
Who is Rell Black? He is the owner and founder of Community Healing Project Inc. Recently, Rell celebrated his birthday on November 3rd, 2017. He wholeheartedly loves his community and his people and demonstrates this effortlessly by maintaining the welfare of the communities through programs and activities developed and designed to take back our streets. His ambition is displayed inside and outside of communities near and far. Who supports and motivates Rell Black? Rell humbly and graciously responds by saying: “My mother and the community. I know I could not do any of this without them.” What motivates you to do what you do in and out of our communities? “The love he has for my people and how much I love my culture.” Rell’s goal is to see his people become remarkably successful in every area
Rell Black holding his plaque from receiving the 2017 Getting Results Award from Local 6 CBS NEWS! of their lives. “If doing this is wrong, I don’t want to be right.” Why are you determined to see the next family or child persevere? “It is essential for our people, to not only to come together collectively during catastrophes. Togetherness should be leveraged when things are going right in our lives.” Rell’s preference is to work with the youth; however, he tries to focus on everybody collectively. He wanted to provide an outlet for the youth by letting them know there is more to life than playing videos games or staying home and centering one’s attention on phones. There was a vision to see the youth interact and learn how to efficiently take care of themselves and become willing to give back to the communities. This goal is being achieved by successfully teaching and showing our youth how to invest in their future. By promoting and implementing consistent change for the youth, it will generate positive outcomes in the present
and near future. Why did you feel the community healing project was needed? “It was created to encourage and strengthen our communities. It provides educational advancement, health awareness, and economic empowerment. Community Healing Project Inc’s mission statement is “Changing the world, one community at a time.” Speaking of “Changing the world, one community at a time.” Approximately a month ago, if not longer, you posted a message on social media letting everyone know you were gathering donations for Houston, Texas. The responses you received was overwhelmingly great. Could you please expound, and let everyone know why this was important? “I went to Houston, Texas with a purpose. I wanted to see for myself what was going on in that area.” Rell connected with organizations within the surrounding affected areas, and together they developed a plan. Rell spearheaded everything through his foundation, The Community Healing Project Inc. Two trucks went there filled to their fullest capacity. The communities in Houston, Texas appreciated the donations, time, kindness, and efforts given to them during their time of need. Rell will be making a second trip back to Houston, Texas in January 2018, or February 2018. Donations are welcome at any time. If you are interested in contributing, contact Rell at (386) 682-0650. What was your most rewarding moment? The back to school bash, which was held on August 12th, 2017. The organization distributed over 800 backpacks to local students. Can you tell us about Rell Productions? I’m diligently working on Rells Productions, and the productions will be coming out soon. What is the next community event you are currently focused on? “Community Healing Project Inc is
hosting their first annual “Holiday in the Heart.” This is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 16th, 2017. The items needed are food, clothes, blankets, toiletries, and gifts. Arrangements can be made to pick up donations through me.” This will help families out tremendously, so let’s give from the heart. How can we help with Community Healing Project Inc? Volunteers are always needed, and donations are welcomed.

How can someone reach you? The best way to reach me is at (386) 682-0650 What would you like to be known for? “A person who specializes in getting the job done.” Community Healing is a 501c3, nonprofit organization; contributions made for such a worthy cause should be tax deductible (seek an accountant for more details). Each one of us can use the internet to build up or tear down, Which one will you choose? There’s a girl, sitting on the cracked concrete that resembles her heart, the firm structure making her uncomfortable, but she ignores it. There are much more uncomfortable things to worry about, her body could never compare. At least that’s what she forced herself to believe. Her name is indecisive. She can’t decide what to get on the dollar menu, can’t decide which letter to circle on the test, can’t decide which day to get out of bed without tears in her eyes. She was living a life without the intent to continue the next day - a life without a savior. As a teen myself, seeing stories like this is nothing new. People read stories of someone posting negative comments on another person’s profile and in turn, hurt the person with no consequences. For example, a story I got to hear firsthand. We will call this person May. May decided one day she would post her favorite picture on social media. The next day, she woke up to the constant vibration of her phone. Missed call after missed call led her to confusion and she hastily answered an incoming call from her best friend telling her to look at the post again. As she examines the countless number of nasty comments, her eyes only focus on one that she would never forget. It was a comment about her weight. She was never exposed to this kind of criticism, and it made her believe it was because of her appearance. As time went on, she learned to walk with her head down in the halls. She checked her profile every day, and read the new comments and messages until her eyes could read no more. What people said about her meant everything to her now. The carefree and confident girl she used to be was trapped in a glass box, too fragile to break, too sharp to free. She closed herself from the outside world.
Her best friend, however, was not going to let this happen. She was used to May telling her that she was okay, or not to snitch or tell an adult, but she just couldn’t let herself go on knowing that May was never going to get help. Even though May was the one suffering in the depths of the glass box, so was her best friend. Both were confined to the chain of silence. Eventually, they showed her parents all the messages and comments from these anonymous people. Pinpointing who said what the only part that was practically impossible for her parents to figure out alone was.
When the school got involved, they could specify the owners of all the accounts, but to everyone’s surprise, it came down to one person. One person had made all five, six, seven accounts just to harass May about her weight. Just to have more power over her. Just to feel something, and to watch May deteriorate over a platform she once considered positive. But alas, she was free. Free from her glass box, from the chains of silence. Free from the negative thoughts that clouded her mind. It took time for May to attempt to return to the girl she was before, but she never did. She never did return to who she was before. She became a new individual. She had battle scars that she would’ve never been able to see if this incident didn’t occur. The spunk and spark she once possessed was now an ever-glowing flame that would never burn out. With all, this positive outcome was only possible because of one thing: our loving savior Jesus Christ. If Jesus had not intervened, the chances of
May escaping the situation she was in, would be very slim. One thing May never knew was that her best friend was praying for her every day. May was never a religious person, but she knew her best friend was and after this happened to her, she accepted Jesus as her Savior and friend because of what he was able to do for her. If Jesus had not sent her a friend like her best friend if Jesus had not worried the conscious of her best friend, if Jesus had not answered the prayers of his child, who knows where May would be. Without him, May would never see the sun. But with him, the weather can change in the blink of an eye. With him, she could see the sun, its rays her guide into the rest of her life. To adults, maybe the youth seem reckless and uncontrollable. In some ways, I can agree. But, there are people like May’s best friend in our everyday lives as young people. There are still teenagers out there that have seriously dedicated their lives to Christ, that are walking fingerprints of the father, examples to even adults. To the young people reading this, if you are ever going through a situation like this or any situation that you feel like is helpless, if you’ve ever labeled yourself a lost cause, if you’ve ever doubted God’s love, remember who God is. Life changes for us every day, but God, he’s unchangeable. He’s the same God that parted the Red Sea for the children of Israel, the same God that shut the mouths of ferocious lions to save Daniel, the same God who created the Earth and everyone in it including you. We are grains of sand and God is bigger than anything imaginable, but he still sent down his son into a sinful world to save you from your sins because today is a new day that he’s given you. A chance he’s given you to trust him with all your heart. Written by: Ariel Howell
