Pastor Terry Brown " If anyone should ever write, my life story for whatever reason there might be you'd be there, between each line of pain and glory.""Jesus is the best is thing that ever happened to me. " - James Cleveland Theresa: Pastor Terry Brown, where are you originally from?

Pastor Terry Brown: I am originally from Lakeland, Florida, and I finished high school at the age of 17 years old.

Theresa: When did you find out the Lord had a calling on your life?

Pastor Terry Brown: I felt like there was a calling on my life; therefore, I had a discussion with my father and pastor. I have been preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ since the age of 18 years old and this year, 2019 marks 35 years.

Theresa: Did the church changed at all during your 35-year journey?

Pastor Terry Brown: Yes, people really attended church years ago and now it's challenging just to get people to attend church. It's imperative as a church that we create ways to captivate our youth because they keep our churches alive. We have to also diligently work on ways to captivate our members.

Theresa: First Lady Faye Brown, where are you originally from?

First Lady Faye Brown: I am originally from Gray Court, South Carolina. It is a small town where everybody knows everybody and you are related to someone. I love to share the uniqueness of my family because I have 30 aunts & uncles on my mother and father's side of the family. If I had to be exact, my father's side has 12 boys and 3 girls, and my mother's side has 10 girls and 5 boys.

Theresa: First Lady Faye Brown, when did your ministry begin?

First Lady Faye Brown: I started my ministry 4 years ago under the leadership of my husband, Pastor Terry Brown. However, I have always been heavily involved with church, and that's been my entire life.

TRIUMPHANT MAGAZINE PG. 7

First Lady Faye Brown Theresa: You have a ministry for the women called "W.I.N., and I have attended these incredible conferences several times. I love the prayers, topics of discussions, the fellowship with other women, and the fabulous gifts and food. What made you decide to implement the Women's Ministry at Mt. Calvary?

First Lady Faye Brown: The vision came from Pastor Terry Brown because there is a great need for women to come together. W.I.N. encourages women including myself to reach our fullest potential by consistently walking into our God's given purposes and talents. It is always excellent to have women come together as one and there's no competition or jealously among us. We come together to worship the one true living God, and I am so grateful to be able to serve the Lord and the women in this capacity.

Theresa: What are some things people may not know about you?

First Lady Faye Brown: Besides being a preacher, wife, mother, grandmother, I'm a Staff Accountant, and I work remotely from Florida. The company is located in South Carolina. I design faith-walk prayer bracelets, and they will be coming out soon. I can assist with wedding & birthday invitations, programs, and flyers. I love to create and design T-shirts.

Theresa: Pastor Terry Brown & First Lady Brown, what else would you like the church to know?

Pastor Terry Brown: It's alright to emulate affection towards your spouse. We personally try to emulate this ourselves in church by showing married couples they can still be Godly and Holy and still be affectionate towards each other. We definitely need to see this more, every time, my wife introduces me when I preach, she turns around and we embrace each other with a kiss before she takes her seat. The youth, members and people in general need to see couple's affectionate side more in church.

Pastor Terry Brown: I normally go to the doctor regularly, but this month marks 1 year and 8 months that I have been cancer free.

First Lady Faye Brown: The doctor recommended since my husband was turning 50 years old that he completes a full blood work on everything. There were no signs at all that showed he had Prostate Cancer, and the cancer came through the doctor's guidance to do blood work.

Pastor Terry Brown: PSA and the only thing they're doing is taking the blood. I can honestly say, it has changed my entire world, because every 6 months, I have to go for checkups and I will have to continue to do this for the rest of my life.

First Lady Faye Brown: Faith had to really kick in because as preachers and leaders you pray for so many people to be healed, delivered and set free. In addition, you spend time counseling and you have to look a cancer patient in the face and tell them, "To hang in there, it's going to be alright, and then you tell them they don't have anything to worry about." You have given advice to others and now God turns around and he is allowing you as a preacher and leader to go through the same. You become your own living testimony. Now, we can tell cancer patients about our own personal experiences and testimony. We could easily say, "Why me?" But that's when we have to lean and depend on those store up prayers and store up scriptures. I have always been close to God but this encounter that my husband and I experienced first-hand brought me even closer to God. It increased my prayer life and God birthed many things through our trails and tribulations: we became triumphant, we now have an intercessory prayer line and we have commercials running on several channels 13, Own, and BET about our church.

One of my friends called my husband and I and she told my husband, "God had to use you as a sacrifice, and anytime He uses His own as a sacrifice, you know He's going to take care of

you just to show the people." Those powerful words still resonate with my husband and I today."

Our Lives with Alopecia Introducing the models of the 3rd annual Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar Spreading alopecia awareness in Volusia County Written by Angie BEE

September is Alopecia Awareness month, and in Daytona Beach Florida, the 3rd annual Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar takes place on Saturday, September 21, 2019. This health, beauty and fashion show event not only spreads awareness of alopecia as an autoimmune disorder, but it serves as a fundraiser for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. This year’s event will not only include shopping and product demonstrations with vendors, but it will again feature a spectacular fashion show, including women that each have a form of alopecia!

According to their website at www.NAAF.org, “Alopecia areata is a common autoimmune skin disease, causing hair loss on the scalp, face and sometimes on other areas of the body. In fact, it affects as many as 6.8 million people in the U.S. with a lifetime risk of 2.1%. People of all ages, both sexes and all ethnic groups can develop alopecia areata. It often first appears during childhood and can be different for everyone who has it”.

A GOOGLE search definition states: Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles.... Although the exact cause of AA is unknown, roughly 20% of affected people have a family member with alopecia, suggesting that genetic factors may contribute to the development of the condition.

Whether you have hair or not, you are cordially invited to join us in Daytona Beach on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Angie BEE & Bartee Productions is also presenting a weekend retreat from September 19-22! Activities include workshops, a dinner-boatcruise, s’mores and beachside networking, and photo shoots with the models

Now, we introduce you to our 2019 fashion show models!

Tamara (Tam-a-ra) is from Brooklyn and lives in Orlando, Florida. Her diagnosis is Hereditary Alopecia Areata. “My Mom had it, my Aunt has it and their Mom (my grandmother) had it.” Tamara states. It started in my early 20s with a small spot in the crown of my head. By the time I was 29 years old, the spot had spread throughout the entire crown of my head and towards the front of my head,” she concluded.

Question: What were the circumstances around you going into public with no wig/head covering?

Tamara: “I’ve been living fully with alopecia for 10 years now (since 2009). Sometimes I muster the courage to come out from underneath my ‘hair hat’. I did so 2012-2013 and then resorted back to wearing wigs and weaves. In December 2018, I shaved off all of the long hair that had grown and I ventured back out again into the public with no hair. However, this was short lived… This past June I decided enough was enough! I was tired…the wigs and weaves only last but for long, it was hot under there, I wanted to look in the mirror and smile at myself. It was time that I start to learn to love me. Love myself fully and truly. I used to go weeks/months without looking at myself in the mirror. Not unless I had a hairpiece on. I would make certain that if I was dating, I wore only sew in weaves so there would be no chance of my bald spots being “exposed.” I mentally fought to hide how I looked for many years. Now I have vowed to fight harder to see who I am and be at peace with all of my external flaws."

Question: What type of comments have you received?

Tamara: “For the most part, people love it. If I take a pic and post it on social media, it blows up. I have had women approach me in public asking my why. Some have even told me about their tactics for covering up minor spots of baldness, and they commend me on my courage."

Question: Why did you decide to model in the Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar this year?

Tamara: "This is the beginning of a new season in my life. A season of commitment to me. I have taken this stride in officially launching my own business, Management & Consultative Favor, LLC. I have started working out consistently and being conscience of my diet. With this being said, I feel like the new attitude I have adopted to loving self-falls in alignment with the principles of the Bazaar. God connected the Founder, Angie BEE and I at this time in my life to help me in my quest on self-love. To show others that they too can be a Phoenix rising out of their “self-esteem fires.”

Tamika Joseph returns as one of our featured models for a second year in a row. Her stage name is Tazzie and she lives in Glendale, Arizona. She has Alopecia Universalis, which is a condition characterized by the complete loss of hair on the scalp and body. It is an advanced form of alopecia areata.

Tamika states “I have had alopecia since I was little girl around, around 8-yrs old. I am still wearing wigs while in public, I’m taking baby steps." My friends and coworkers are encouraging me to come to work without my wigs, since they have seen pictures of me modeling.

Question: Why did you decide to model in the Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar this year?

Tamika – “Modeling helps me to come out of my shell. Every time I do the show, it builds courage to walk out without my wig. I feel I am with family no one is pointing a finger and laughing at me." She continues with a bit of advice “My advice is trust the one close to you, because they have your best interest and will encourage you to be your best."

Mary Green was diagnosed with scarring Alopecia years ago. I met her at an alopecia support group in Eatonville, Florida in July 2019.

I remember having bald spot on the top my head. With time, my hair was getting thinner. I lived with that for 5 and 1/2 years of my life, so I decided to become a prisoner to wigs. Fast forward with my story. I saw more women embracing the Alopecia journey by cutting their hair. So, I decided to stop relying on the wigs. I cut all my hair off and starting sharing my story. Then I started to embrace a new me. It was the best feeling I felt of freedom! Throughout my journey, I have met an awesome group of women. They reassure me that I am not in this alone. I 'm truly blessed. My advice to other women's love yourself first and everything else will fall in line.

Question: Why have you decided to become a model in the Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar?

Mary - On September 21, 2019, I will be walking in my first fashion show. I decided to join the movement and help me educate the world on Alopecia.

You can follow Mary on Instagram at bald_to_beautiful

Melissa’s stage name is “Sweetheart” and she is from Orlando, Florida. Melissa is an event volunteer and serves as our “Model Coordinator”, recruiting models, interacting with them and sharing her testimony wherever she goes. Melissa’s diagnosis was Androgenic Alopecia. This form of alopecia is defined as a receding hairline and gradual disappearance of hair from the crown and frontal scalp. Melissa states: “I lost my edges after I wore tight braids and then I had patches. It could have been there all along since I was an adult. It was scary for me because I didn't know anyone else that was bald and I would hide behind my family,” she concluded.

Question: What type of comments do you receive when people see your baldhead?

Melissa – “People tell me all the time that my head is perfect and bald looks good on me. Not a lot of people can get away with it. I modeled last year and I enjoyed bonding with the ladies and seeing other people that look like me."

Melissa continues by adding, “Go to the Dermatologist and educate yourself on your options. Some people are not comfortable being bald, and they want to control it. I would encourage people to first, get used to seeing yourself being bald at home, and then do it with family or friends in public to have that support. Soon you will forget that you are bald! I have lived with Depression, emotional eating and low self-esteem. Everyday gets easier if people are going to talk to you about it. Give them something to talk about sisters. Keep shining! God bless y'all.

Shalonda Mitchell debuted as a model during the 2nd Bold Beautiful Bald Beauty Bazaar. She will return to Daytona Beach for the 3rd annual event on September 21. Her stage name is “Ladi Shai” and she lives in St. Louis, MO.

Question: What form of alopecia do you have?

Shalonda - “I have Alopecia Universalis. It was a hard transition for me, because I was teased badly while I was in school. Since I have gone completely bald, I have received more compliments than negative but I do get approached, saying it was really brave of me to do this."

“Take baby steps but be free to be you and embrace who you are! I decided to return as a model, to build awareness of Alopecia.

Question: Do you have advice for others?

Shalonda –“Learn to accept it day by day! There will always be something that people don't like. Love you first and the rest with fall through. Follow Shalonda on Facebook at www.Shalonda Mitchell and on ig: ladi_Shai_the_model

Angie BEE was serving the Lord with gladness, leading an evangelism troupe with Holy Hip Hop concerts, workshops and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In order to not “offend” others while in public, she wore glamorous wigs and head coverings. If you visited her at home, you would see her baldhead. She would share her diagnosis of alopecia secretly with others and would share how her mother had alopecia, and told her about it. When the Lord sent Bartee to find Angie BEE, she was wearing her wig while ministering at the gospel radio station and at her church home. During their first date, she took off her wig and sarcastically encouraged him to end the date! “If you are going to leave, just let me know so I can lock the door behind you.” Bartee not only did not leave, but he complimented her on her round head. Angie BEE and Bartee married six months after they met; and Ladero Press published their true love story two years ago. Today, they present their author workshops, single and marriage retreats with BOTH of their baldheads gleaming in unison!

Bartee encouraged Angie BEE to launch the Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar after she had a conversation with Donna Gray-Banks, the founder of the F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival. “Angie BEE, you would not believe the number of women in Volusia County that are struggling with hair loss and low self-esteem. You should have a fashion show event where women can come together and be encouraged.” Donna and Bartee worked diligently with Angie BEE and in 2017 the annual awareness and fundraising event debuted. Each year, the beauty bazaar grows featuring health and beauty products, light refreshments and a silent auction. This year, proceeds raised from the event will be donated to both www.Naaf.org and www.SPFsonscreen.org. Families are encouraged to attend, and so are those individuals that have a full head of hair. “We don’t discriminate!” Angie BEE states, with a giggle. “I wanted to present an event where people could shop, taste and enjoy without feeling like we are the only bald ladies in the room. If you just so happen to have hair, we would enjoy meeting you!” Angie BEE continues concludes with this scripture story from 2 Kings 23-24 which states: Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!”they chanted. “Go away, baldy!” Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them.

“Don’t worry!”Angie BEE jokingly states, “We won’t curse you, nor will we feed you to the bears if you tease us!” Angie BEE is on a mission to spread alopecia awareness as well as the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The 3rd annual Bold Beautiful & Bald Beauty Bazaar is sponsored in part by PEPSI, The F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival, Honest 1 Auto Care in Ormond Beach and Triumphant Magazine. This one-day event and weekend retreat was founded, and is presented annually by Angie BEE & Bartee Productions.
