TThe poker run was on Saturday, October 22, and departed from National Marine Suppliers at 10 a.m. Riders collected playing cards at the Alligator Alley Harley-Davidson, Café 27, which included a special performance by The Chuters, and then finally arrived at Quantum Marine Stabilizers. Quantum hosted the end party, which included live

music by Ego Free, a BBQ buffet, drinks, awards, and raffle prizes.

All proceeds supported Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation, which is a foundation that provides assistance to wounded, ill, or injured US Special Command (USSOCOM) members and their families. “It is an absolutely stunning number,” said Tom Rowe, director of marketing and business development at National Marine Suppliers. “It was our best poker run ever.”

Many riders return to the Poker Run every year due to the amount of fun it brings, including Capt. Ken Bracewell of M/Y Berilda, who estimates he’s been to 10 poker runs.

“It’s the funnest event ever and it doesn’t matter where your station is, as

long as you like motors,” Capt. Bracewell said. “It’s the most leveling event I’ve ever seen in the yachting industry.”

First time attendee Neil Smith, the chief engineer on M/Y Cetacea and a South African Infantry Veteran, attended the event not only due to the yachting industry ties, but also because of the support the charity offers for veterans.

“For a long time, veterans were put away and no one really noticed us, but it’s coming out more and more and it’s quite gratifying,” Smith said.
