TCD ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY "Like music and art, love of nature is a common language"
WHO WE ARE
- Jimmy Carter
Welcome to TCD Envirosoc: a bunch of hummus-scooping, secondhand jumpersporting students who want to make the world a more sustainable place. Through our own events or collaborating with other societies, we help to grow and enrich the environmental conversation at Trinity College and beyond.
WHAT WE DO
Sinead Mercier speaking at the Trinity Rise Up for Climate Action daylong conference last September. Pints ensued shortly after.
Education: the world is pretty big, and we think that the first step in making it better is to learn more about it. We do so through recurring events, such as the
Career Series in which professionals
in environmental fields tell us about what they do, as well as
What the F**k Was That (WTFT),
which breaks down environmental events and ideas. We host talks spotlighting organizations such as
Seal Rescue Ireland as well as hot
environmental topics such as a talk from the
Climate Case Ireland team. From composting to climate policy, if you want to learn more about the planet, we've got you covered.

Inspiration: Learning is the bomb diggity, but we bet that you're like us, and will want to put what you've learned into action. We work on and off campus to promote environmental activism. Envirosoc has a seat on the
TCD Green Campus
Committee, which allows us to represent the student body in decisions about sustainability on campus, as well as one on the all-Ireland Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. You can thank us for replacing paper and plastic CSC society membership cards with online ones, as well as beginning the CoCup reusable cup scheme - the first one in Ireland - in conjunction with Dublin City Council. From campaigning online to marching in the street, there's a place for everyone in environmental activism.
