The friendships and relationships forged at VMI will last forever, it is truly an unbreakable bond of brotherhood. He is now training harder than ever in hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

Born with spina bifida, Largo has been in a wheelchair his entire life. “I can’t change it, so I might as well live it,” Christian said about his condition. “The beauty of life is that you can overcome the things that are holding you back.”

BLAKE ’17: DESIGNING A PIECE OF HISTORY

Designing the class ring for the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) is one of the most distinguished honors at a school replete with tradition. Earlier this year, it was announced that this coveted responsibility for the class of 2021 would go to an alumnus of Trinity’s IB Art program, Smith Blake ’17. A history major, Blake enjoyed combining his love of art to create a piece of history.

In a story published by VMI’s alumni news, Blake talks about how the lessons of creativity and perseverance honed at Trinity are paying off now. “In art, you can’t be perfect at everything,” said Blake. “Every time I made a ring draft, I would mess up and have to start over… ‘How can I do better, and how can I make it look even better?’”

Van de Kamp is a member of the USA Field Hockey Development Squad team.

Zach Jacobs ’17 was featured in the Richmond Times-Dispatch in early January for his standout performance during his junior season on the men’s basketball team at James Madison University. “Confidence has been the biggest key to Jacobs’ rise in JMU’s rotation this season. The junior is averaging 7 points — more than double his production from his first two seasons, and is also chipping in 5.1 rebounds per contest,” said reporter Jonathan Howard.

In August, Trinity siblings Emma ’16, Addie ’18 and Annie ’21 Nash — and the bonds they share as sisters and teammates — were featured in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The University of Richmond recognized its 100th anniversary of its field hockey program this fall by focusing on it’s continued theme of sisterhood that the Nash sisters embody on and off the field. Emma will graduate from UR in the spring, but youngest sister Annie has committed to play for the Spiders after she graduates from Trinity.
