What is an online greeter? Be a greeter - virtually. As people join the Livestream service Sunday morning, the online greeter’s role is to welcome them in the chat. As people leave and say goodbye, the online greeter’s role is to say goodbye and wish them a good week. Example: Hi @ElmerFudd happy Sunday! It’s great to have you joining us this morning. When do I need to be “on the job”? As an online greeter, we ask that you ‘log-on’ to the Livestream by 9:30 a.m. to greet people as they leave ‘good morning’ comments in the chat. And stay tuned in until the service is over, saying goodbye to people as they leave. Example: It was great to be together virtually, @CicilTurtle! I hope you have a great week! What is the time commitment for this? Right now, we are taking it month-by-month. Our ask of you is for a singular Sunday, with the option of having you be an online greeter again. What if someone asks a tough question? Don’t sweat it! Your job as an online greeter is to have welcoming, pleasant conversations with people. How exactly do I get started on Sunday? 1. ‘Log-on’ to the Livestream by 9:30 a.m. 2. Set up channel to begin the chat! Additional advice: 1. Avoid using all Caps. TYPING LIKE THIS can come off as yelling, so use standard capitalization and make sure your caps lock is off. 2. Use proper punctuation. Proper punctuation helps prevent misunderstandings, helps Google Translate accurately translate your messages into other languages, presents Trinity in a tidy light, and clarifies meaning for non-native speakers. 3. Avoid using slang or churchy words that might cause confusion. 4. Tag a person’s name when responding. 5. Remember in the online realm, communication truly is our ministry!
