Because of you… students are inspired

Thanks to the generosity of the TCA community, significant upgrades were funded for components at Tom Landry Stadium, the baseball field, softball field and MCB gym, and a new dance studio was completed. In addition, gifts to TCA Foundation created a new early childhood playground for our littlest Trojans and provided new equipment to the Middle School playground.

I am incredibly grateful for the new dedicated dance studio on campus. Having a consistent space (complete with mirrors!) has been a game-changer for our team and allows the girls to learn more efficiently and feel a stronger sense of belonging and connection as a team. Thank you for believing in us and for trusting us with such a transformational gift!

I am sincerely grateful for the recent enhancements made to the baseball field. The new turf is beautiful, and the ball plays great on it. This consistent playing surface has significantly improved the quality of our practices and games. The firstclass lighting system has been a tremendous upgrade as well, and the installation of the flagpoles has given us a way to proudly display our country, state and TCA flags.

These improvements have made a positive and lasting impact on our baseball program and TCA community. Thank you for your support in making these upgrades possible.

This turf has meant the world to our whole team, helping us avoid ankle injuries because we used to get so many on the old turf. It also allows us to make better cuts, leading to bigger plays on the field, and easier recovery off the field

– Student Athlete

What a true blessing our preK playground has been! Our youngest students have a beautiful, ageappropriate space to play every day where they can enjoy being with their friends and teachers. We are so thankful for this beautiful gift for our youngest learners!

– Bev Birmingham,

Assistant Head of the Lower School

One of the things we love about our Middle School is that we value recess and letting kids be kids. There is no greater joy than to see the smiles on faces and hear the laughter of our students as they enjoy playing gaga ball and six square during recess. These generous additions to our Middle School playground immediately impacted the recess experience for our students. We are incredibly grateful!

Because of you…needs are met

Student Tuition Aid (STA) is only possible because of the extraordinary giving of our TCA community. When families in our community experience difficult life events — the loss of a loved one, a long-term illness, the loss of a job — they adjust and make sacrifices, but many cannot afford to keep their children at TCA without assistance. Through STA, you were an answer to prayers and a tremendous blessing to families.

During the 2024-25 school year:

$1.4 MILLION awarded in STA

75 FAMILIES GRANTED STA

1 13 out of students blessed by STA

115 students received STA

3,700

STUDENTS HAVE RECEIVED STA SINCE THE PROGRAM ORIGINATED IN 1974

As you read the following excerpts from notes written by families who received STA, know your generosity is an investment with lasting value:

Your generosity has changed the course of my daughter’s life.

I prayed really hard about going to TCA, and I want to thank you very much for making it possible for me. I give thanks to God for blessing me through you.

I’m so appreciative that I can attend TCA, and it is all thanks to you! TCA is an amazing school; my life wouldn’t be the same without it. Thank you!

– TCA student

I have tears as I thank the Lord for you and your generosity.

Your generosity was truly an answer to our many prayers. It is also a reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness in our lives. We will be forever grateful!

Because of you… future Trojans will be blessed

The TCA Foundation Endowment is comprised of gifts from donors that are invested and managed by the TCA Foundation. Each year, a portion of the earnings on the principal is distributed to meet specific needs.

OF THE TCA ENDOWMENT AS OF JULY 31:

Named endowments are established and funded by donors and invested within the TCA Foundation Endowment: The Joyce E. Millet Endowed Student Tuition Aid Fund and the Dr. Trevor E. Mabery Teacher Enrichment Endowment. Donors often establish endowments to honor or remember people who have made a significant impact on their lives. The minimum to establish a named endowment is $25,000.

If you are interested in learning how you can establish an endowment at TCA, please contact Belinda Branstetter at bbranstetter@trinitychristian.org or call (972) 447-4742.

Huffines Family Endowed Scholarship

The Huffines Family Endowed Scholarship was established by Mollie ’07 and Layne Wiesendanger, Lauren and Sam Huffines ’10, Libby Huffines ’11 and Emily Huffines ’17 and will support the annual needs of Student Tuition Aid (STA).

When asked what motivated them to make this gift, the siblings stated they are establishing this scholarship to honor the transformative role TCA has played in their lives. They dedicate this fund to God’s glory and to help foster the next generation of leaders grounded in faith, integrity and a heart for service.

Extending the Impact of a Generous Life

Jim and Ruth Valesano firmly believe God orchestrated events for them to meet a single mother who desperately needed help to keep her children at Trinity Christian Academy. They never saw her again, but her story lingered in their hearts.

Moved by compassion for the struggles many single parents endure, Jim and Ruth established The Valesano Scholarship for Single Moms in 1991. For more than 30 years, Mr. Valesano faithfully contributed to the endowment, and each year a portion of the earnings are distributed as Student Tuition Aid (STA) to help a single parent afford a TCA education for her children.

Jim Valesano, loving father and grandfather to Linda and Jim Rossi, Gia ’88 and Emmett Berryman, Caroline and E.L. Boykin, Kathryn Rossi ’05, Anna Ward ’14, Amy Boykin, Leah Boykin and Molly Berryman ’21

The Valesano family roots run deep at Trinity Christian Academy, and the family’s legacy is far-reaching. As TCA parents and grandparents, Jim and Ruth know the value of a Christ-centered education. Mr. Valesano served on the TCA Board of Trustees and the TCA Foundation Board for 15 years, and their children and grandchildren continue to be a special part of the TCA community. “I remember nights when my dad and Bill Millet (former TCA trustee) would pour over the needs of families and try to piece things together to provide for their tuition. Many times, Dad would end up giving additional gifts to make up the difference,” recalls Linda Rossi, Jim and Ruth’s daughter and TCA alumni parent.

“I was blessed to spend a considerable amount of time around Mr. Valesano during my days as a student at TCA,” said Dr. Jeff D. Williams, head of school and member of the class of 1988. “He was a great man who loved the Lord, his family, his church and TCA. I will never know all the amazing things he did for TCA, but what an honor to live in his legacy today.”

Mr. Valesano was both a compassionate servant leader and a wise steward. In his later years, he made qualified charitable distributions (QCD) to TCA from his IRA. A QCD allows individuals age 70½ or older to donate up to $108,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking the required minimum distribution (RMD), and the distribution is not treated as income to the donor.

“Giving a QCD directly from an IRA typically saves a donor significantly more in taxes,” said Joe Foster, president of Foster Financial Group and TCA alumni parent. “In addition,” added Foster, “an IRA can be a very tax-efficient asset to donate as part of your estate, and your family can inherit other assets that may be received tax free.”

Mr. Valesano passed away in 2024, and consistent with the life of generosity he led, he made a final gift to TCA through his estate. Now one of the largest endowments at TCA, the Valesano Scholarship will continue to provide tuition assistance for children of single mothers year after year. TCA is exceedingly grateful for the generosity of the Valesano family.

Grateful for our 2024-25 Donors
