Letter from the Headmaster

Dear Friends, When I think about our work at Trinity-Pawling, I see not only our boys on campus but also the men they will one day become. Life will ask them to demonstrate their knowledge and their character in ways both large and small— in their professions and companies; with their families; in the needs of their communities. What kind of fathers, citizens, and leaders will they be?

Their potential for good is immense. Our world has never needed men of strong mind and great character more than it does today. Whether in the U.S. or around the world, we need the intellectual ambition, work ethic, integrity, bravery, and civility that boys acquire here at Trinity-Pawling. Given the geopolitical, scientific, financial, and ethical complexities our students will inherit, these personal qualities are, in fact, a global imperative.

Trinity-Pawling offers a uniquely challenging approach to education, one that alters each boy and his trajectory. Today, our academics and college placement results are stronger than ever. Student pride is soaring, and the campus looks beautiful. Our faculty are skillful and dedicated. We are poised to springboard on this success, to take Trinity-Pawling to the next level. At the same time, we have reached a pivotal moment for the School. It is clear that we must dramatically strengthen our financial foundation, but even more, we must continue to build a stronger community of passionate believers—alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, and others—who share our faith in the boys of Trinity-Pawling; who feel connected to one another; who believe that Trinity-Pawling makes a difference and who carry our values into the world.

Irwin Liu ’71 Memorial Scholarship Fund — $5,570 Members of the Class of 1971 established this scholarship fund in 2008 to honor the memory of their classmate. Income from the Fund is to provide tuition assistance to a deserving boy of limited financial means. Preference is to be given to a boy of good academic standing who participates in the School’s wrestling program.

Dolores V. and Thomas J. McCabe Memorial Scholarship Fund — $16,254 Thomas and Dolores McCabe were firm believers in quality education and long time supporters of Trinity-Pawling’s mission of educating young men. Established by the McCabe Family and friends in 2007, this scholarship is awarded annually to a student based on financial need and with consideration given to the student’s involvement in the campus community through athletics, the arts, and other extracurricular activities.

Scully in the year 2007 in celebration of the fiftieth reunion of the Class of 1957 and as a tribute to the centennial anniversary of the founding of Trinity-Pawling School.
