My design philosophy is inspired from something that Vince Lombardi once said, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence”. As a person who wants everything to be perfect, I had to realize that wasn’t always what made the project top tier. Instead, it’s the effort you put in to observe , be creative , and remember that the world is your limit is what it is all about. With each design I strive to put my best foot forward to make sure they embody an outstanding quality. To achieve that, each step is important and taken into consideration – from beginning to end.

Color Palette
A couple selected me to design their master bedroom, bathroom, great room and kitchen. Their style preference is more of a traditional aesthetic. They want a blend between traditional and modern and will like to keep a neutral palette with pops of color throughout their spaces. They want an overall feeling of classic, timeless and clean. Some requirements are, a double vanity sink, a freestanding tub, a nightstand with reading lamps, a breakfast bar and an open space concept for their great room and kitchen.

Solution Statement : To accommodate my client’s wants for their bedroom and bathroom the first thing they will notice are individual reading pendant lights for them. A double vanity sink is included in the bathroom alongside the free-standing tub they asked for. To keep their space classic, timeless and clean each material that is used is either natural wood, ceramic tiles, and has a neutral tone.

Solution Statement : For my client's great room and kitchen, to add in the pop of color they wanted, their kitchen cabinets are airbrushed in an Abyss paint color. They compliment the appliances that they already had creating a very aesthetically pleasing area for them to make their meals. A breakfast nook is included as they ask for and it overlooks their great room which achieves their expectations for an open concept layout. Also, to blend in their need for modern, a television that can be operated by remote, emerges from the ceiling.

Color Palette
My clients Bob & John were the must ideal clients. Their great room needed updating and they wanted to change the decorative style of it as soon as possible. With currently being traditional, they wanted a more contemporary/modern style. They allowed me to have the opportunity to remove all the items that they had except one piece they said needed to stay. It was a bookcase from their old home, and they could not get rid of it. With a budget of $20,000 this is what I created.

Solution Statement : I decided to get many of their pieces from All Modern. Since this was a room that was used to relax in a recliner chair was added to their inventory list so that they can destress after a long day with a view out of their bay window. Keeping the same layout they had, I also found a sectional that went with the style and allowed comfortability. With the decision to leave the same paint color on the walls I wanted to add something special to it with a peel and stick wallpaper which created an accent wall for their dining area. Each item matched their bookcase that I kept in the same corner it was previously in and gave the space a brand-new look.

The Missing | Senior Thesis | Completed in 2021

I was challenged to develop a space that expands on my Senior Topic thesis, exhibits the content of my research paper, and demonstrates research-based design. My solution should “inform” visitors, just as my written thesis “informed” readers. The overriding goal is to make the exhibit or showroom “hands on” so that visitors may interact with the contents.

Solution Statement : To correspond with my thesis, I figured that the theme of carving your way out was the best way to showcase my research. The first floor will consist of a rock textured wall while the second floor will have a smoother texture. The idea of that was to show that minorities within Interior Design may be encumbered but with proper solutions there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
