Media Credential Information Applying for Credentials Media interested in covering this year’s Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl can apply for credentials by filling out our online credential request form. Credential requests will be considered only if they are submitted by an editor, director or producer. Please note that only requests from professional news outlets will be considered. Non-news and freelance media requests will not be approved due to licensing and copyright considerations. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. Each participating school’ Sports Information Office will be involved in the approval process for media outlets that cover their respective instituions. Having been credentialed for other bowl games does not automatically qualify an agency or individual for credentials. Membership in a writers or broadcasters association does not automatically qualify an agency or individual for credentials. The Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl reserves the right to revoke any credential at any time. Requests must be submitted by Monday, December 11 (Noon ET) and notification will be sent via e-mail no later than Tuesday, December 12. Photo identification (Drivers License) is required for pickup. Individuals may claim all credentials issued to his/her media organization. Lost or misplaced credentials and/or parking passes will not be replaced. All media credentials remain the property of the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl and must be surrendered upon request. Credentials not claimed at the media headquarters by Wednesday, December 20 at 4:00 p.m. will be transferred to Tropicana Field and will be available for pickup on game day at Media Will Call beginning at 5:00 p.m. If you have been approvred for a parking pass, you will need to to pick up your parking pass prior to game day at the media hotel headquarters. *Please note that credentials will not be mailed*.

Game Day Press Box
The Press Box opens at 5:00 p.m., three hours before kickoff. The Press Box is located on the 2nd Level. Radio broadcast booths are located on the 3rd Level. The media entrance is at Gate 4. Upon entering the building, bags will be inspected and tagged accordingly. Please consult with a press box host or the seating charts posted throughout the press box for your seat assignment.
Field Media Work Area
The Field Media Work Area is located in the first base dugout. A field-level work area for computer editing will be setup with electric. Upon entering the area, please check-in with the Bowl PR Staff representa- tive who will show you to your pre-reserved workspace. Table workspace on field level is limited, if requests exceed available space, additional work areas will be made available in the press box.
Post-Game Field Access
Media are permitted access to the playing field in the closing minutes of the game. Elevators begin departing the Main Press Box at the 5:00 minute mark of the fourth quarter and will run to Field Level through the end of the game. The elevator is dedicated to media use at that time, so there is no hurry to leave the Main Press Box.
Post-Game Interviews
The Championship Trophy and winning team’s MVP award will be presented immediately following the game at midfield. After the customary 10-minute “cooling off ” period, the non-winning head coach, Team MVP and selected players will be escorted to the interview room. The winning team head coach, Team MVP and selected players will follow. Only accredited media with proper credentials will be admitted. A sports information representative from each team along with Bowl PR Staff will be available to assist the media. Both team locker rooms are closed. Additional players from each school will be made available following each respective school’s press conference. Please note that media are not permitted to wait outside the team locker room post game. All media must proceed directly to the interview room.

The inaugural game featured USF from the BIG EAST and Memphis from Conference USA. USF quarterback Matt Grothe, who earned the game’s Most Outstanding Player award, three for three touchdowns and rushed for 83 yards on 15 carries to lead USF to a 41-14 win. USF scored on four of its first five possessions to build a 24-14 halftime lead on its way to scoring more than 40 points for the fourth time in 2008. The Tigers entered the contest averaging more than 200 yards via their ground game, but the Bulls had the nation’s ninth-best rushing defense and it showed. USF held Memphis to only 66 yards on 30 carries, and Tiger running back Curtis Steele, a 100-yard rusher, gained most of those with 48 yards on 12 rushes.

Rutgers and UCF lined up against each other for the first-time ever in the second edition of the Bowl. The Scarlet Knights tied their season-best for points scored with a 45-24 win over UCF. Rutgers’ Mohamed Sanu, the game’s Most Outstanding Player, accounted for three of the team’s five touchdowns. Sanu caught four passes and two touchdowns. The Scarlet Knights three other touchdowns came on a 65-yard pass reception by Tim Brown an interception return by Billy Anderson and kickoff return by Damaso Munoz on an attempted onside kick by UCF. Rutgers defense held UCF’s offensive in check recording a bowl record six sacks.

The 2010 game between the Louisville Cardinals from the BIG EAST and Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles from Conference USA was a thriller to the end and captured the highest television ratings (2.6) in the short history of the bowl, up more than 20 percent from the previous year. The game featured numerous highlights including a one-handed touchdown grab by USM QB Austin Davis on a trick play, a 62-yard touchdown run by USM’s Desmond Johnson and a 96-yard kickoff return by Louisville’s Jeremy Wright, plus many bonejarring hard hits. The Cardinals prevailed 31-28 on a fourth quarter field goal by Chris Philpott, capping a successful turnaround season under first-year head coach Charlie Strong.

The fourth installment of the game pitted the Marshall Thundering Herd of Conference USA against the FIU Panthers of the Sun Belt Conference. Two key plays, one by special teams and another by the defense late in the fourth quarter propelled Marshall to a 20-10 win. With the score tied at 10-10, Marshall’s Zach Dunston blocked a punt that led to a 39-yard field goal by Tyler Warner with 5:16 remaining in the game. On the ensuing drive, Marshall’s Omar Brown forced a fumble on FIU star T.Y. Hilton on what would’ve been a successful 3rd down conversion that would’ve put the Panthers near midfield with 4:24 to go. Marshall’s offense ran the clock down to 38 seconds left when it had a 4th and 5. Coming out the timeout, QB Rakeem Cato hit WR Aaron Dobson on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Dobson earned Marshall’s game MVP honors with touchdown receptions of 35 and 31 yards to help Conference USA earn their first victory in the Bowl.

In a game that pitted two nine-win teams, one of only four bowl games to have both teams have at least nine wins, Conference USA member UCF scored the game’s first 13 points and jumped out to a 28-7 halftime lead to coast to a 38-17 victory over Ball State of the Mid-American Conference. The Knights racked up 494 yards of offense, just two yards shy of the bowl record set by USF in 2008 against Memphis. Game MVP Blake Bortles accounted for 352 yards (272 passing, 80 rushing) as the redshirt sophomore threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. NFL Draft pick Latavius Murray caught a pair of TDs from Bortles and also ran for a score as he totaled 104 all-purpose yards. QB Keith Wenning and WR Willie Snead hooked up for a pair of TDs for Ball State as they made their eighth bowl appearance all-time.

It was a good start and an even better finish for Vintavious Cooper, Shane Carden and East Carolina as the Pirates scored the game’s final 20 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Ohio, 37-20, in the sixth annual Beef O’Brady’s Bowl at Tropicana Field Monday afternoon. Cooper, who was named ECU’s MVP, rushed for a career-best and Bowl record 198 yards on 25 carries. He turned the game back in ECU’s favor following the missed field goal. The senior back capped a 5-play 71-yard drive with a 31-yard touchdown scamper, his first of two TD runs on the day. The Pirates had opportunities to widen their lead in the opening half but were stopped on downs twice inside the Bobcats’ 15-yard line.

The NC State Wolfpack of the ACC, after outscoring its previous two opponents by a score of 77-20, left St. Petersburg victorious in a 34-27 victory over the 9-3 UCF Knights. NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett set the pace with 262 passing yards and a touchdown, while running back Matt Dayes added two scores on the ground to preserve the win for the Wolfpack. This was quite the accomplishment for NC State after UCF had recorded nine wins in their previous ten games. UCF quarterback Justin Holman and wide receiver Breshad Perriman proved to be UCF’s biggest contributors in this game, with Holman throwing for three touchdowns and Perriman adding nine catches for 138 yards. With the win, NC State improved its bowl record to 7-3. 24

The Herd outgained the Huskies (6-7) in total yards by a 389-213 margin. WR Deandre Reaves earned MVP honors for Marshall with a game-high 9 catches for 88 yards. He also had a 26-yard punt return which ranked as the second-longest in the bowl’s history. UConn placekicker Bobby Puyol put his name into the St. Petersburg Bowl record book with a 52-yard field goal and earned the MVP honors for the Huskies.

Nelson Adams blocked Nick Dowd’s 37-yard field goal attempt with five seconds remaining in the game allowing the Bulldogs to escape St. Petersburg with a victory. Trailing 16-7 with less than five minutes to play in the third quarter, MSU quarterback Nick Fitzgerald capped a nineplay, 82-yard drive with a 44-yard touchdown run that cut the deficit to 16-14 and set up a dramatic fourth quarter. With 12:03 remaining in the game the Bulldogs’ Weston Graves drilled a 36-yard field goal to put his team ahead for the first time and ultimately set the stage for Adams’ heroics. Fitzgerald finished with a game-high 132 yards rushing, which is a Bowl record for a quarterback. The RedHawks had 433 yards offense with Gus Ragland throwing for 263 yards and two touchdowns.

The third overall pick in the 2014 draft, he's the highest drafted player to have played in our bowl game. He's been a starter at Jacksonville since the third game of the Jags 2014 season. He has set numerous team records including most passing touchdowns in a single season – 35 and most passing touchdowns in a single game – 5 (Week 13, 2015, vs. Tennessee Titans).
Is in his eighth season with New England and has been a starter at both CB and Safety since his rookie year when he accounted for a career-high seven interceptions. The two-time Pro Bowler currently has 20 career picks. McCourty has earned two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots (Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl XLIX)

Last year in his rookie season he started two games for the New England Patriots. He was traded this year to Indianapolis and where he has been the starter since week 2 for the injured Andrew Luck. He is now in the record books for tying Johnny Unitas’ franchise record for most 60- yard touchdown passes by a Colt, 4, two 61yd TDs, a 63-yd and an 80-yd TD.
Murray was a drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2013. He is currently the starting RB for Minnesota. Murray began his career with Oakland and signed with the Vikings this past March. Last season Murray scored a career-high 12 rushing TDs. In 2015 he became a starter and rushed for 1,066 yards and scoring six touchdowns. He was the first Raiders RB to go over 1,000 yards in a season since 2010.

In his first campaign he had 50 receptions, averaged 17.2 yards per catch and scored 7 TDs including one from 70 yards. Last season he had a career-best 91 receptions for 1,448 yards.

Sanu has been in the league for six years and has grabbed more than 250 passes in his career. He is currently a starter for Atlanta. He signed a fiveyear, $32.5 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. Last season he set a personal best for receptions with 59. In Super Bowl LI he had two catches for 25 yards. This season he's on pace to set a new personal high for catches. Sanu played his first four seasons for the Bengals. He had a breakout season in 2014 when he had 56 receptions for 790 yards and five TDs, including a career-best 76 yd TD reception.

Leary is playing in his sixth season in the NFL. He is currently the starting right guard for Denver. This offseason he signed a four-year, $36 million deal with the Denver Broncos with $20 million guarantee. He played his first five seasons for the Cowboys and became a starter for the Dallas Cowboys in his second year (2013). Last season he gave up no sacks.
