Media Recap Summary Trifecta Team provided more than 150 hours of support for the Champion® ESPN Games.

Trifecta Team worked closely with US Lacrosse and AAU PR representatives to coordinate coverage to maximize exposure opportunities.

During the 11-day competition Trifecta Team wrote and distributed Champion® ESPN Games Daily Recaps to a custom developed media database consisting of more than 120 media contacts.

The media outlets included the following: Daily Newspapers - high school writers that cover basketball, lacrosse and field hockey Basketball Niche Media - online and print outlets that cover prep basketball Lacrosse Niche Media - online and print outlets that cover lacrosse Youth Sports Publications - niche publications covering wide variety of youth sporting events The Champion® ESPN Games Daily Recaps provided an overview of the daily results, highlighted certain games and players, previewed marquee matchups for the upcoming day and listed results from every competition that took place.

In addition to the recaps, on a daily basis Trifecta Team reached out directly to specific media with customized emails and calls to promote high-profile teams and athletes in their markets. For both basketball and lacrosse, Trifecta Team identified athletes that had committed to colleges and provided custom recaps on these players to “beat writers” for those schools.

Furthermore, Trifecta Team contacted the sports publicists for sports at the schools and offered similar custom player recaps for publicity opportunities for the school’s to use on its media platforms.

Rosters are released for Champion AllAmerican Showcase at the ESPN Complex 07/15/2013 BY TOPLAXRECRUITS

Nearly 200 of the nation’s top high school boys’ and girls’ lacrosse players have been selected by US Lacrosse to compete in the 2013 Champion® All-American Showcase, a US Lacrosse event. The boys’ and girls’ showcases will be held July 21-26 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as part of the Champion® ESPN Games.

For the girls’ event, July 21-23, US Lacrosse All-Americans were selected to participate from across

the country. For the boys’ showcase, July 24-26, players were selected by the US Lacrosse High School Area Chairmen, and invited after careful consultation with high school coaches in all regions across the country.

The girls’ showcase features a four-team round-robin pool and a welcome dinner the evening of July 21. A total of 80 players from 27 states have been selected. Teams will compete in three pool-play games before the championship and consolation games, Tuesday, July 23.

The girls’ championship game will be delivered live at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN3. The multi-screen sports network is available to more than 85 million households nationwide and accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and on Apple TV. The boys’ event also features a four-team round-robin pool and a welcome dinner the evening of July 24. Ninety players representing 30 states have been selected. Teams will compete in three pool-play games before the championship and consolation games, Friday, July 26. The boys’ championship game at 7 p.m. ET will air live on ESPNU. US Lacrosse U15 Boys,/Girls National Championship Teams Named

BALTIMORE, July 16, 2013 - US Lacrosse announced the 56 youth lacrosse teams that will compete in the fifth annual US Lacrosse Under-15 National Championship, powered by Lacrosse Unlimited, July 23-25 (girls) and July 26-28 (boys) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Defending national champions Sky Walkers (Md.) and Long Island Express (N.Y.) and runners-up Yellow Jackets (N.Y.) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Md.) return to highlight the girls’ 32-team field and the boys’ 24-team field, respectively. The 56 teams hail from 22 states, and they’ll bring nearly 1,400 players to participate in an event that is part of the annual Champion ESPN Games.

“We’re happy to celebrate our fifth U15 National Championship and bring many of the nation’s best youth teams together to compete with class and honor the game,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. “Together with our friends at Lacrosse Unlimited, STX, Disney and ESPN, we welcome athletes, coaches, parents and fans from all corners of the country for a terrific week of youth lacrosse.”

The girls’ bracket also features several teams that placed in the top four at US Lacrosse Regional Championships in June, where they earned automatic invitations with free or reduced registration to the U15 National Championship. Among them: US Lacrosse West champion BearLax 2016 Blue (Calif.), runner-up BearLax 2017 (Calif.), bronze medalist Pacific Falcons (Calif.) and semifinalist Desert Heat (Ariz.), US Lacrosse Central runner-up Detroit Coyotes (Mich.) and semifinalist Minnesota Elite, and US Lacrosse Northeast champion Yellow Jackets 2017 (N.Y.), runner-up Ultimate Elite (N.J.) and semifinalist BBL 2017 (N.J.).

Likewise, US Lacrosse regional qualifiers competing for the boys’ U15 National Championship include US Lacrosse West champion Brady’s Bunch (Calif.) and runner-up Colorado 14ers, US Lacrosse Central champion Green Machine (Ind.), US Lacrosse Southeast bronze medalist Winston-Salem (N.C.) and semifinalist Triad Elite (N.C.), and US Lacrosse Northeast champion New Jersey North East, runner-up Next Level (R.I.) and bronze medalist Long Island Express Piranhas (N.Y.).

Boys lacrosse: Nine NJ players selected for Champion All-American Showcase

Nine New Jersey high schoolers were selected for the 2013 Champion All-American Showcase, which is held from July 21-26 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, FL., as part of the Champion ESPN Games.

The boys’ and girls’ showcase both take place during that time, with the girls’ championship being held on July 23rd at 1 p.m. on ESPNU and the boys’ championship being held on July 26 at 7 p.m. on ESPNU. It is a four-team round-robin pool and all four teams will compete in three games before the consolation and championship games.

U.S. reaches final in womens lacrosse World Cup July 20, 2013|Sports Digest

Lacrosse U.S. beats England, will face Canada in final of women’s World Cup The U.S. women’s national team advanced to its ninth Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup final with a 21-8 semifinal victory over England on Friday in Oshawa, Ontario. Former UMBC coach Kelly Berger (Hammond) scored two goals for the Americans. The United States will seek a record seventh gold medal in today’s 3p.m. final against Canada, which defeated Australia, 11-7. The Americans beat Canada, 13-2, in pool play Tuesday, limiting the host team to six shots and forcing 14 of its 26 turnovers. The U.S. team is 9-0 all time against Canada in World Cup play.

Varsity: Several high school players with local ties are among the nearly 200 selected by US Lacrosse to compete in the Champion All-American Showcase. The boys and girls tournaments will be held Sunday to Friday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as part of the Champion ESPN Games. The girls showcase, with 80 players from 27 states, features a four-team round robin. Teams will compete in three pool-play games before the championship and consolation games Tuesday. The championship game will be shown live at 1 p.m. on ESPN3. The boys event, with 90 players representing 30states, also features a four-team round-robin format. Friday’s championship game at 7 p.m. will air live on ESPNU. Among the girls players competing will be incoming Florida midfielder Mollie Stevens, a Queen Anne’s County High graduate playing for Team Freedom; rising senior midfielder Shelby Scanlin, a Maryland recruit from Cardinal Gibbons High in Raleigh, N.C., who will play for Team Liberty; incoming Virginia Tech goalie Meagh Graham of Good Counsel, who also will compete for Team Liberty; rising senior midfielder Shannon Fitzgerald of Newton North High in Newton, Mass., a Johns Hopkins recruit who will compete for Team Spirit; and incoming Washington College attacker Allison Dudley of Francis Scott Key High, who also will play for Team Spirit. Under Dobbins, the Buckeyes were fourth nationally in man-up offense in 2013, scoring on 46 percent of their chances. Dobbins joined the Buckeyes after six seasons (2004-2009) as an assistant coach with the Sea Gulls. The 2005 Division III Assistant Coach of the Year, he helped the Sea Gulls win four Division III national championships and finish as national runner-up once.

NHL Capitals to open season at champs; divisions named The Washington Capitals begin the 2013-14 regular season on the road against the defending Stanley Cup-champion Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 1 before returning to Verizon Center to host the Calgary Flames on Oct. 3 for the home opener. This season is the first under the NHL’s new realignment plan.

In addition to releasing the full regular-season schedule, the league also named the new divisions. The league kept with its theme of geographically based names, opting for the Pacific and Central divisions in the Western Conference and the Metropolitan and Atlantic divisions in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals are in the eight-team Metropolitan Division along with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets. Within the division, Washington will play the Flyers and Hurricanes five times each — with three games on the road against the former and three games at home against the latter — this year. The Capitals will play the other five division members four times each. Rival Pittsburgh comes to town Nov. 20 and March 10.

The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games kicked off Friday with pool play in the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase. The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games continued on Saturday with the conclusion of pool play in the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase. Twelve (12) teams finished pool play undefeated with 3-0 records, including BABC 2013 10th SS & Nat (Roxbury, MA), Florida Vipers (Deerfield Beach, FL), Hoopdreams Kentucky (Lexington, KY), Illinois Stars (IL), Karolina Diamonds (Greensboro, NC), Louisiana Bayou Flames McGhee (Baton Rouge, LA), Maryland 3-D (Baltimore, MD), Nike Team FL South 10 (Sarasota, FL), Ohio Varsity White (Columbus, Ohio), Tampa Bay Warriors (Riverview, FL), Team Nola (New Orleans, LA) and The Ville 2015 (Goshen, KY).

Competition took place at four venues, including both the HP Fieldhouse and Jostens Center at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, as well as the Orlando Sports Center and Osceola Heritage Park. Each of the 72 teams played their final pool games Saturday, with the results determining their destination for the start of bracket play on Sunday. The top team in each pool moved onto the Gold bracket, the second place finishers advanced to the Silver bracket, and the third and fourth place teams continue on Sunday in the Bronze and Copper brackets, respectively.

Highlights from Saturday’s action: - The Ville 2015 (Goshen, KY) rallied from a 20-point second half deficit to knock off Florida Tarheels Elite, 48-45. Evan Hall scored 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.

- After leading 25-24 at the half, the Illinois Stars (IL) broke open a tight game against Nike Team Florida, thanks to Aaron Mikel Jordan, who scored 18 of his game-high 20 points in the second half.

- Maryland 3-D (Baltimore, MD) rolled to a perfect record in pool play by jumping out to a 45-18 halftime lead against AIB Marcelo Silva. Nico Clareth led Maryland with 24 points.

- Louisiana Bayou Flames McGhee (Baton Rouge, LA) wrapped up an undefeated run through pool play with four players in double figures, including Jeremy Wiltz with 17 points.

- Team Nola (New Orleans, LA) posted an 80-35 victory in its final pool game, with Melvin Frazier pacing the team with 18 points in the win over Mid State Magic Sports.

- Ohio Varsity White (Columbus, Ohio) finished pool play unbeaten, thanks to 20 points from Khalil Iverson in Saturday’s win over Charleston Playmakers.

- The Tampa Bay Warriors wrapped up an undefeated slate in pool play, led by Christian McWilliams’ 23 points in a 65-54 victory over the Chicago Trojans.

2013 Champion® ESPN Games: AAU 10th grade boys hoop and field hockey results Monday, July 22, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games were highlighted on Sunday by the start of single-elimination bracket play in the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase, as well as pool play in the Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase in the U12 Coed and U14 Girls divisions.

Eight teams in each of the four brackets advanced on Sunday in the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase, with the quarterfinals and semifinals set to take place on Monday, July 22.

The championship games in each bracket are set for Tuesday, July 23. The basketball competition took place at four venues, including both the HP Fieldhouse and Jostens Center at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, as well as the Orlando Sports Center and Osceola Heritage Park.

The Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase wrapped up pool play on Sunday and heads into the Mickey Flight-Champion and Minnie Flight-Consolation brackets on Monday, July 22 in the U14 Girls divisions. In the U12 Coed division, the teams advance to the Donald Flight-Champion and Daisy Flight-Consolation brackets starting on Monday, July 22. The field hockey competition is being contested on the fields at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Champion® All-American Lacrosse Showcase (Girls) opened Sunday afternoon with two games, but the contests were postponed at halftime because of inclement weather. The games will resume Monday afternoon.

The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games feature 9,336 elite athletes who will be competing in basketball, field hockey and lacrosse from July 19-29. The athletes/teams have either earned a spot to compete for their respective sport’s championship or have been invited by the sport’s national organizing body to be on all-star teams.

Highlights from Sunday’s action at the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games: AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase - Eight teams in each of the four brackets advanced to the quarterfinals. Southern Phenoms 16U advanced to the quarterfinals of the Gold bracket, thanks to placing four players in double figures, including 18 points from Bruce Stevens.

- In the Gold bracket, SC Elite received 23 points from Emarius Logan, including 15 in the first half.

Florida Vipers also advanced to the quarterfinals in the Gold bracket with six players in double figures, led by Jose Morales with 16 points.

- Maryland 3-D also moved into the quarterfinals of the Gold bracket, with Nico Clareth (23 pts) and

Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase - In the Girls U14 division, 13 teams posted perfect 3-0 records in pool play, including Capitol Pegasus Transam (MD), Freedom HKY (MD), Gateway St. Louis (MO), GOA Reds (Canada), H2O Pink (MD), IFHCK Pegasus Elite (KY), Jersey Intensity (NJ), Peninsula Storm Blue (VA), Saints Hockey Rocks (VA), South Jersey Edge Pink (NJ), Spirit of USA (NJ), Tcoyo Prana (VA) and Windy City Spark (IL).

- Five of the teams in the Girls U14 division held their three opponents without a goal, including Spirit of USA (NJ), which outscored its Pool G competition, 20-0. Saints Hockey Rocks (VA) was also impressive in Pool I, posting a 19-2 advantage in its three matches.

- Saints FHC (VA) went undefeated in its three pool play matches in the Coed U12 division while allowing just one total goal.

- Shore Byrds (MD) won Pool B in the Coed U12 division, posting three consecutive shutouts on the day.

- Spirit of USA U12 team (NJ) outscored its three opponents, 23-0, in winning its three matches in Pool C of the Coed U12 division.

Champions crowned at the ESPN Games Tuesday, July 23, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games on Tuesday featured the Champion® All-American Girls Lacrosse Showcase, a US Lacrosse Event, the Gold Medal game as well as the championship day play for the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase and the Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase for the U14 Girls divisions and U12 Coed division.

AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase Champions were crowned on Tuesday in the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase four brackets.

In the Gold bracket championship, the Florida Vipers (Deerfield Beach, FL) defeated the Karolina Diamonds (Greensboro, NC) 65-52. The Vipers led 19-13 after the first quarter and carried the lead for the rest of the game. Jose Morales (Cardinal Gibbons HS) led a balanced scoring attack for the Vipers with 14 points. Eight different players scored for the Vipers.

The Diamonds’ leading scorer was Brandon Childress, who scored all of his 13 points in the second half.

In the Silver Bracket, Nike Team Florida defeated E1T1 Flash, 67-46. Nike Team Florida controlled the game from the start, ending the first quarter with a 19-10 lead. NIke Team Florida had four players in double figures with Wyatt Walker (Providence School) leading the way with 16 points. Sandro Noel led E1T1 with 12 points.

In the Bronze Bracket, Southern-Stampede Orange (Mableton, GA) defeated Team Forrest (GA) 58-50.

Southern-Stampede Orange took a 31-21 lead into the half and held on for the win.

Ty Hudson (Pebblebrook HS) led Southern-Stampede Orange with 16 points, hitting 6 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Teammate Cam Boyd had the hot hand in the second quarter, knocking down four 3-pointers and finishing the game with 14 points. Team Forrest’s Fasil Abdul-Malik (Green Forest Christian) led all scorers with 21 points.

In the Copper Bracket, the Lightning-Craig (Levittown, NY) defeated Chicago Trojans (Chicago, IL) 80-78 in an overtime thriller. Patrick Johnson (St. Mary’s HS) scored a championship bracket high 33 points for Lightning-Craig. Johnson opened the game on fire, pouring in 12 first quarter points. The Chicago Trojans had four players in double figures. Antonio Alsup (Morgan Park HS) put up six of his 10 points in the overtime period.

Champions crowned at the ESPN Games Champion® All-American Lacrosse, a US Lacrosse Event Recap With ESPN3.com providing a live international audience, Team Pride scored a 15-11 win over Liberty to win the Gold Medal in the Champion® All-American Lacrosse, a US Lacrosse Event at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Lindsey Ronbeck (Manhasset – N.Y.) scored all three of her goals in the first half to help Pride move out to a 9-8 halftime lead. Carli Marsh (Pine Crest School – Fla.), Annie Spewak (Parkway West – Mo.), Kelly Dolan (Barrington – R.I.) and Laura Frankenfield (Wissahickon – Pa.) all scored to open the second half for Pride and Liberty was never able to get closer than two goals in the second half.

Shelby Scanlin (Cardinal Gibbons – N.C.) led Liberty with four goals while Kate Burbank (Fox Lane – N.Y.) added two goals and Annie Ruland (Milton – Ga.) had three assists.

In the Bronze medal matchup the Spirit defeated Freedom. The Spirit jumped out to a 12-4 halftime lead and went on to an 18-10 victory behind four goals from Allison Dudley (Francis Scott Key – Md.) and two goals and five assists from Olivia Hompe (New Canaan – Conn.). Hayley Ciklin (Benjamin School – Fla.) and Mollie Stevens (Queen Anne’s County – Md.) each had two goals for Freedom and Rachel Ramirez (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) made 11 second half saves while allowing just six goals.

Full results and stats leaders are listed in AGAT. U15 Girls Lacrosse National Championship Thirty-two (32) U15 girls’ teams arrived at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to play in the first day of competition for the U15 National Championship. Among the 32 teams is the defending champion Sky Walkers 2016 from Maryland, which returns with three players from last year’s team. The Sky Walkers were one of seven teams to go 3-0 in pool play and earned a No. 2 seed for bracket play.

Steps 2016 landed the No. 1 seed after scoring 42 goals in three games while allowing only seven.

The five other teams to win all three games were Dominant, Yellow Jackets Blue, Long Island Liberty, BearLax 2016 Blue and Long Island Top Guns.

Bracket play begins Wednesday begins at 8:00 a.m.

Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase The final day of competition took place in the Girls U14 and Coed U12 field hockey.

In the Girls U14 division Mickey Championship Flight finals the Spirit of USA (NJ) defeated Saints Hockey Rocks (VA) 1-0. The Girls 14 Minnie Consolation Playoffs was won by Jersey Elite Red (NJ) which scored a 1-0 win over Shore Byrds (MD).

In the Coed U12 Donald Championship Flight, the Spirit of USA defeated H20 Pink (MD) 4-0 to win the title. The Coed U12 Daisy Consolation Flight was won by Peninsula Hurricanes (VA) with its 1-0 win over Kapow Hockey Klub (PAE).

AAU 10th Grade Boys Basketball Super Showcase, field hockey and lacrosse results Tuesday, July 23, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games continued on Monday with exciting action in the Champion® AllAmerican Lacrosse Showcase (Girls) and the quarterfinals and semifinals of the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase, as well as championship and consolation brackets in the Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase in the U14 Girls divisions and U12 Co-ed division.

In the Champion® All-American Lacrosse Showcase (Girls), Teams Pride and Liberty each went 2-1 in pool play to advance to the championship gametomorrow at 10:00 a.m. (ESPN3.com). Teams Spirit and Freedom both finished 1-2 and will meet in the consolation game Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.

The championship games in each of the four brackets are set for Tuesday in the AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase following quarterfinal and semifinal action on Monday at both the HP Fieldhouse and Jostens Center at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase had the first day of the Mickey Flight-Champion and Minnie Flight-Consolation brackets on Monday, July 22 in the U14 Girls divisions. In the U12 Coed division, the teams participated in the Donald Flight-Champion and Daisy Flight-Consolation brackets.

Both the U14 and U12 groups will have the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds of play on Tuesday. The field hockey competition is being contested on the fields at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Highlights from Monday’s action at the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games: AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Basketball Super Showcase The Championship games are now set in each of the four brackets after quarterfinal and semifinal play on Monday. In the Gold bracket championship, the Florida Vipers (Deerfield Beach, FL) will meet the Karolina Diamonds (Greensboro, NC). The Florida Vipers defeated SC Elite (Irmo, SC) 59-55 in the quarterfinals behind 14 points from Antonio Vrankovic (Pine Crest School). In the semifinals, the Florida Vipers downed the Southern Phenoms (Mississippi), 74-61. Jamal Palmer (Delray Beach HS) scored 22 points and Quincy Rideau (Palm Beach Lake HS) added 19 points.

Karolina Diamonds opened the day with a 55-52 win over The Ville (Goshen, KY). Kweshaun Parker scored 24 of the team’s 55 points. Free throws carried the Karolina Diamonds in their semifinal win over BABC 2013 10th SS & Nat. (Roxbury, MA). The Diamonds hit 10 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on for the win. The Southern Phenoms advanced to the semifinals with their quarterfinal win over the Illinois Stars, 59-54. Antonio Green scored 16 points for the Southern Phenoms. BABC 2013 10th SS & Nat. defeated Maryland 3D, 67-61, in its quarterfinal game. Bruce Brown (Vermont Academy) andTerrance Mann (Tilton School) each scored 14 points for BABC. In the Silver Bracket, Nike Team Florida will meet E1T1 Flash in Tuesday’s championship game.

In the quarterfinals, Nike Team Florida cruised past Reaching Your Goals, 68-44. Rodney Hunter IV (Mariner HS) scored 10 of his team’s first 12 points to open the game and finished tied with teammate Troy Baxter (Leon HS) with a game-high 18 points. Nike Team Florida rolled in the semifinals behind Kevarrius Hayes’ (Suwanee HS) 13 points in its win over Team Ontario Red, 61-51.

AAU 10th Grade Boys Basketball Super Showcase, field hockey and lacrosse results 67-54. John Collins contributed 10 of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter for E1T1 Flash.

In the semifinals E1T1 Flash upended Nike Southern Stampede (Snellville, GA), 50-42, with clutch fourth quarter free throw shooting. E1T1 Flash scored eight of its 10 points in the final quarter from the charity stripe. Diandre Wilson led E1T1 Flash in scoring with 13 points, including nine from the line.

Nike Southern Stampede made it to the semifinals with the support of Kareem Brewton’s (Shiloh HS) game-high 22 points with a 66-48 win over Charleston Playmakers (Charleston, SC). Tyrell GumbsFrater poured in 16 points to lead Team Ontario Red past the Shining Star Sports (Florence, KY) 54-22 in its quarterfinal game.

In the Bronze Bracket, Southern-Stampede Orange (Mableton, GA) will face Team Forrest (GA) in Tuesday’s title game. Southern-Stampede Orange downed the Greensboro Aggies (Greensboro, NC), 65-50, in the quarterfinals with Ty Hudson (Pebblebrook HS) knocking in a game-high 18 points for the winners. The Spiece Gators (Jeffersonville, IN) held a seven-point first half lead but the SouthernStampede Orange fought back to take a 64-58 win in the semifinals.

Team Forrest began the day with a 45-38 win over Orlando Lightning (Orlando, FL). In the semifinals Team Forrest trailed by four at halftime to Motion TB Boys, but came out in the third quarter and outscored its opponent 19-5 to take the lead for good. Seven different players scored for Team Forrest in the third quarter. Spiece Gators advanced to the semifinals defeating Marylands Finest 16U (Clinton, MD), 72-58, with Myles Harvey (Jeffersonville HS) scoring a game-high 22 points for the Gators. Motion TB Boys won its quarterfinal game over Martin Bros. Legacy Black (Iowa City, IA), 55-48.

In the Copper Bracket, the Chicago Trojans (Chicago, IL) will meet Lightning-Craig (Levittown, NY) in the championship on Tuesday. Chicago Trojans cruised past Team Florida 10th (Casselberry FL), 68-35 behind 16 points from Kevin Lerma (Merist HS) in the quarterfinals. Jeremy Roscoe (Uplift HS) scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter to help the Chicago Trojans record a comefrom-behind win semifinals win over Fairfax Star Jones (Lorton, VA). Lightning-Craig recorded a forfeit win over Charlotte Reign (Charlotte, NC) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Patrick Jackson (St. Mary’s HS) hit for a session-high 28 points and Devonte Dixon (Williams Floyd HS) added 16 points as Lightning-Craig held off Beaufort Crossovers (St. Helena Island, SC), 75-74. Fairfax Stars Jones defeated Team Work 16U 2013 (Fredricktown, OH), 60-55 to earn the semifinal berth. Jason Remy (South County HS) led Fairfax Stars Jones with 14 points. Beaufort Crossovers advanced to the semifinals using a balanced scoring attack to upend AIB Marcelo Silva, 53-36.

Champion® All-American Lacrosse Recap Teams Pride and Liberty each went 2-1 in pool play to advance to the championship game tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. (ESPN3.com). Teams Spirit and Freedom both finished 1-2 and will meet in the consolation game tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.

The Pride and Liberty met in the opening game of the round robin series on Sunday, but the game was halted after the first half due to weather. The two teams resumed play after playing two games earlier in the day. The Liberty won its games over Freedom and Spirit, while Pride split its games defeating Spirit and losing to Freedom. Pride, which led Liberty 8-5 when play was halted on Sunday, needed to win to advance to the championship game. The Pride rolled to an 18-12 victory over Liberty behind four goals from Carli Marsh (Parkland, FL / Florida) and three each from Kelly Dolan (Barrington, RI / Dartmouth) and Lindsey Ronbeck (Manhasset, NY). AAU basketball action from Orlando Thursday, July 25, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

The 2013 Champion® ESPN Games on Thursday filled courts in three venues from early morning to late evening with both the AAU Boys’ 11th Grade Super Showcase Gold Division and AAU Boys’ 11th Grade Division I National Championship finishing pool play and the AAU Boy’s 10th Grade Division I National Championship teams competing in bracket play.

One of the most anticipated games of the day was the AAU Boys’ 11th Grade Super Showcase Gold Division matchup with E1T1 and Houston Hoops. The game attracted a large and loud crowd for the ESPNU cameras as well as numerous college coaches in the baseline scouting seats to watch the multiple players ranked in the ESPN 100. Joel Berry II ( Apopka, FL / UNC Commit) knocked down a game-high 22 points, including 14 in the 2nd half to help E1T1 hold off Houston Hoops 70-64.

Houston Hoops started the game strong taking a 19-16 lead into the 2nd quarter with Justin Jackson (Tomball, TX / UNC commit) and Kelly Oubre (Fort Bend, TX) combining for 15 of the points for Houston. E1T1 fought back to take over the lead 30-29 at 1:25 remaining in the half on a slam dunk by Grayson Allen (Jacksonville, FL / Duke commit). E1T1 held the lead during a closely played 3th quarter. Houston Hoops retook the lead 54-53 with 4:30 remaining in the game on a field goal from Khalea Turner (Marrero, LA) but it only lasted 30 seconds when E1T1 took over for good 57-54.

Houston Hoops had a chance to tie when Justise Winslow (Houston, TX) stole the ball from Berry and was fouled while making a layup, but he missed the free throw to tie the game and Berry drove the court to hit a layup to extend the lead to three points.

E1T1 had a balanced scoring attack to support Berrywith D’Angelo Russell (Louisville, KY/Ohio State commit) contributing 14 points and Allen adding 11. Winslow tied Jackson for the most points for Houston with 18. Oubre finished with 14 points.

E1T1, which won its pool, put on an offensive display earlier in the day taking down Atlanta Xpress 93-54. All eleven players were in the scoring column with Kobie Eubanks (Plantation, FL) leading the way with 19 points.

Howard Pulley, which was featured on ESPNU on Wednesday night, became the first team to eclipse the century mark in its 101-68 win over Ohio Phenoms. Tyus Jones (Apple Valley, MN) scored 25 firsthalf points and finished with a game-high 29 points. Reid Travis (Minneapolis, MN) added 20 points for Howard Pulley which finished 3-0 in its pool play.

BABC advances to its 41st Final Four tournament Friday, July 26, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

The legacy of the BABC program continues to grow as they advanced to the Final Four of the National AAU championship in the 10th grade group. The BABC’s 53-30 victory over Texas Pro sent them to the Final Four of a major tournament for the 41st time under the watch of coach/founder Leo Papile. The sophomore group, one Papile feels has the potential to be one of the best he’s coached, improved to 55-2 this year.

AAU hoop action from Orlando: Teams advance to Championship Games, Final Four and Elite Eight on Saturday Saturday, July 27, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

Championship Bracket play continued Saturday at the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games and teams moved into the Final Four in the AAU Boys’ 11th Grade Super Showcase Gold Division and the Elite Eight of the AAU Boys’ 11th Grade Division I National Championship. The AAU Boy’s 10th Grade Division I National Championship Game between the Arkansas Wings Elite and Nike Team FLA is set for Sunday at 12 Noon.

In Gold Showcase bracket play, four teams advanced to the semifinals Sunday morning, with games at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. with the championship game at 2:00 p.m. All three games will be televised on ESPN3. Squaring off on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. is E1T1, from Florida, and Team Final, from New Jersey. The second semifinal game, at 10:00 a.m., features Howard Pulley, from Minnesota and Boo Williams, from Virginia. The winners advance to the championship game follows at 2:00 p.m.

The final game of the night provided the most excitement of the day as Boo Williams scored a 58-57, double overtime win over Houston Hoops when Robert Johnson (Benedictine HS) drove the baseline with time running out to hit a game-winning shot. Johnson led Boo Williams with 18 points while Justice Winslow (St. Johns HS) led Houston Hoops with 17 points.

Reid Travis (De La Salles HS) scored 35 points for Howard Pulley in a 76-70 win over All Ohio to reach the Final Four and Tyus Jones, (Apple Valley) added 23 in the win. E1T1 reached the Final Four defeating the Charlotte Nets, 88-79, as D’Angelo Russell (Montverde Academy) led all scorers with 30 points.

AAU 11th Grade Boys’ Basketball Division 1 National Championship Reaching the Elite Eight in the Division 1 National Championships are Team Work 2013 (Ohio), WV Wildcats Select, BWSL Woods (Virginia), Martin Bros. Legacy (Iowa), Florida Elite Black, Team NFL 17U JF (Illinois) and the Jacksonville Nets (Florida). Three of the eight teams (BWSL Woods, Team Thad Young and Florida Elite Black) reached the Elite Eight in games decided by three points or less.

In Florida Elite Black’s 62-59 win over PSB Select 17U, Florida Elite connected on 15 of 17 fourth period free throws to secure the victory. David Efianayi (Ocoee HS) scored 10 points, hitting five of six free throws in the fourth period.

AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Division 1 National Championship The Arkansas Wings Elite and Nike Team FLA advanced to the 10th Grade Boys’ Division 1 National Championship Game with wins in the semifinal round on Saturday. The Wings enter the championship game undefeated in seven games and Team FLA is 7-1, after a second-place pool play finish.

Nike Team FLA, with a roster of players from throughout Florida, held a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter over the King James Shooting Stars, but the Stars outscored Nike Team FLA 16-6 down the stretch to force overtime. Kevarrius Hayes (Suwannee HS, Live Oak) scored four of Team FLA’s five points in overtime for a 48-47 win to advance to the Championship Game.

The Wings Elite scored a 57-46 win over the Boston Area Basketball Club (BABC), building a 29-15 halftime lead and holding steady in the second half. Malik Monk (East Poinsett County HS) led the Wings with 16 points. Monk has been the leading scored for the Wings in the last two games totalling

AAU hoop champions crowned in Orlando Sunday, July 28, 2013 By: Dan Ventura

Teams from Arkansas and Minnesota were crowned champions at the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games in the AAU Boys’ Basketball 11th Grade Super Showcase Gold Division and the AAU Boy’s 10th Grade Division I National Championship. The Final Four of the AAU Boys’ 11th Grade Division I National Championship has been determined and the semifinals and Championship Game will be played Monday at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.

The Howard Pulley Panthers, of Minnesota, won their eighth game in five days, 79-72, over Each 1 Teach 1 (E1T1), of Florida to win the 11th Grade Gold Division Super Showcase in the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games. The championship game was played at the HP Fieldhouse at the Wide World of Sports Complex and was broadcast by ESPN3.

The game was tied 38-38 at halftime and Howard Pulley led 60-58 after three periods. E1T1 took a 63-62 lead early in the 4th period but it was quickly erased by a three pointer by the Panthers Reid Travis (De La Salles HS) to make the score 65-63. E1T1 would never regain the lead. Travis led all scorers with 27 points, with 20 coming in the second half. In the last three games, Travis scored 87 points, an average of 29.0 per game.

A layup by Joel Berry (Lake Highland Prep HS) cut the Howard Pulley lead to 72-70 with 1:11 remaining, before Travis hit two free throws to make it 74-70. Howard Pulley hit seven of eight free throws in the last minute of the game. Berry led E1T1 with 18 points.

“We’ve played tough teams like this one today all summer and played hard,” said Howard Pulley Coach Antwan Harris. “We held them to one shot in the last minute and hit our free throws and won the game.”

AAU 10th Grade Boys’ Division 1 National Championship The Arkansas Wings Elite defeated Nike Team FLA 63-47 in the 10th Grade Boys’ Division 1 National Championship Game. The Wings built a five point halftime lead, led by 10 at the end of the third period and cruised to a 16-point win. Undefeated in eight games, the Wings won their five bracket play games by an average of more than 15 points.

The Wings were led in scoring by Malik Monk (East Poinsett HS) for the third consecutive game with 16 points. Kevaughn Allen added 14 and Marquis Pointer had 11. Nike Team FLA was led by Kevarrius Hayes (Suwannee HS, Live Oak) scoring 11 points. Chance McSpadden had 10 points, all in the first half.

AAU 11th Grade Boys’ Basketball Division 1 National Championship The Final Four is set in the Division 1 National Championships with Team Work 2013 (Ohio), Team Thad Young, Martin Bros. Legacy (Iowa) and Team NLP 17U JF (Illinois) meeting in the semifinals beginning at 8:00 a.m. Monday. All of the Final Four teams enter the semifinals undefeated in seven games and all four of the remaining teams won their Elite Eight Games on Sunday by 10 or more points.

The third and final basketball champion was crowned at the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games in the Boys’ Basketball 11th Grade Division I National Championship Monday at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. Team NLP 17U, from Illinois and made up of players from the Chicago area, defeated Team Thad Young, of Tennessee, 62-49, to emerge from the 124-team field undefeated in nine games.

Team NLP built a five point halftime lead 30-25, extended the lead to 10 points at the end of the third quarter, 46-36, and cruised to their sixth double-digit win in bracket play since last Friday. In the six bracket-play games, Team NLP’s average winning margin was 20 points.

Jevon Carter led a Team NLP balanced scoring attack with 16 points while Kurt Hall scored 12 and Evan Boudreaux added 11. In the last three games en route to the championship, Carter scored 41 points, Boudreaux scored 40 and Hall had 38. Leron Black and Riley Norris each scored 12 points to lead Team Thad Young while Christopher Chiozza had 10 points.

Heritage High School Class of 2013 grad Austin Brundage will play in the US Lacrosse Champion AllAmerican Showcase event July 24-26 in Orlando, Fla.

Brundage, who will play at Emmanuel College this coming fall, will play for Team Freedom.

Nearly 200 of the nation’s top high school boys’ and girls’ lacrosse players have been selected by US Lacrosse to compete in the 2013 Champion All-American Showcase, a US Lacrosse event. The boys’ and girls’ showcases will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as part of the Champion ESPN Games.

For the boys’ showcase, July 24-26, players were selected by the US Lacrosse High School Area Chairmen, and invited after careful consultation with high school coaches in all regions across the country.

The boys’ event also features a four-team round-robin pool and a welcome dinner the evening of July 24. Ninety players representing 30 states have been selected. Teams will compete in three pool-play games before the championship and consolation games, Friday, July 26. The boys’ championship game at 7 p.m. ET will air live on ESPNU.

In an EYBL-loaded 17u bracket at the AAU Super Showcase, several Top 100 prospects put on monster performances on Wednesday. Let’s take a look at who showed up and showed out.

Devin Booker (SG, Alabama Challenge / Moss Point, MS / 2014): With Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo in attendance, Booker had a stellar performance on Wednesday night, finishing with 19 points in a 69-46 victory for Alabama. Booker was money from

every spot on the floor, especially with the shooting guard’s mid-range game and ability to attack the basket. With offers from Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan State, and North Carolina, among others, Booker’s stock has been on a steep incline since the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Joel Berry II (PG, Each 1 Teach 1 Elite / Apopka Lake Highland, FL / 2014): Fresh off a Peach Jam championship, Berry’s E1T1 squad picked up right where they left off in an 8658 win over the Wilson Blue Devils. Berry commanded the offense with ease, finishing with 15 points and five assists, including a stretch back-to-back-to-back triples in the second half. With E1T1 leading by 25 going into the fourth quarter, Berry sat out the final eight minutes as the Orlando-based squad

cruised to the finish line. Committed to North Carolina, Berry has arguably been one of the nation’s top point guards since an incredible performance at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June.

AAU Super Showcase: Wednesday’s Top Performers Kelly Oubre (SF, Houston Hoops / Findlay Prep / 2014): Leading a talented Houston Hoops squad to a statement 89-56 win over the Atlanta Xpress, Oubre’s 28 points and eight rebounds were more than enough on Wednesday evening. The 6’7 small forward was 6-of-6 from behind-the-arc, showcasing expanded and improved shooting range since the end of his junior season at Fort Bend Bush in Texas. Transferring to Findlay Prep for his senior season, expect Oubre to continue to rise up recruiting boards in 2013-’14. Listed as the 20th-best player in the

class of 2014 according to ESPN, Oubre boasts offers from UCONN, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, and many others.

Reid Travis (PF, Howard Pulley / Minneapolis De La Salle / 2014): Weeks after being awarded All-Star honors at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, Travis had a monster performance on national television in Howard Pulley’s 64-61 win over BABC. Winning ESPNU Player of the Game honors, Travis’ 31 points and seven rebounds were crucial in Howard Pulley’s fourth quarter charge to take the victory. Travis used his 6’8 240-pound frame to his advantage on Wednesday, carving out space around the block, in addition to finishing well amidst contact. According to ESPN, Travis is the 40th-best player in the class of 2014, claiming offers from Arizona, Harvard, Michigan

State, and UCLA, among others. Like the players listed above, Travis’ stock is also on the rise, as his basketball IQ and aggressiveness have attracted scores of coaches around the country.

WATCH FOR Florida’s 568 senior athletes to continue winning medals at the 2013 National Senior Games.

Four Florida swimmers earned eight National Senior Games medals over the weekend, in Cleveland, Ohio. Katherine Karageorges-Sharp, of Boca Raton (pictured at left), led the way with two gold and two silver medals, in the 55-59 age group. Rudy Vazmina, of Sarasota, won a gold and two silver medals in 60-64 age group events and Linda Larson, of Fort Lauderdale, won a bronze medal.

Two Florida women won triathlon gold medals on Sunday as Miami’s Lois Leon was the top finisher in the 70-74 age group and Phyllis Goodlad, of Dade City (pictured below), won the gold for the 85-89 age group.

Sports in action this week include Archery, Badminton, Horseshoes, Softball, Swimming and Tennis, Beginning later this week are Basketball, Golf, Shuffleboard, Track and Field and Volleyball. The 2013 National Senior Games continue through August 1 and the 2013 Florida International Senior Games & State Championships will be held December 7-15, in Lee County.

WATCH FOR Florida’s NFL teams to hit the field this week in preparation for the 2013 season. The Dolphins began training camp yesterday in Davie, while Buccaneers first day of training camp is Thursday and the Jaguars take the field for the first workout on Friday.

The Bucs, Dolphins and Jaguars will each play two home pre-season games during the month of August before the regular season begins on Sunday, September 8.

Fans of the Bucs, Dolphins and Jaguars can show their team pride while providing support to youth charities and Florida’s economy, with a Florida Sports License Plate. The next month or so is going to be a memorable one in the life of Jenna Stover.

This weekend she heads to Florida to compete in a national lacrosse event. In mid-August she embarks on a new phase of her life when she heads to Conway, S.C., to begin college at Coastal Carolina.

As far as this weekend is concerned, the former North Penn star goalie will be among roughly 200 young men and women that were selected by Baltimore-based US Lacrosse to compete in the 2013 Champion All-American Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. For the most part, the participants have either graduated high school or will be entering their senior year.

The competition will be held as part of the Champion ESPN Games. The women’s events will cover three days (Sun.-Tues.) with a total of 80 players on four teams; Stover is on Team Freedom. Teams will compete in three pool-play games before the championship and consolation games, which will be Tuesday. The women’s championship game will be carried live at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN3.

“I am so excited for the chance to play against the level of players that I will be, to compete with the best,” said Stover, who was invited to the showcase following North Penn’s season. “It was so uplifting when I found out about being invited to Florida. It boosted my confidence about 10 times.”

While Stover looks to bring some name recognition to the school in Lansdale, it is entirely excusable if Coastal Carolina is overlooked on the collegiate lacrosse landscape. In May the Chanticleers wrapped up their first season of lacrosse with a record of 5-11 overall, including 2-5 in Big South Conference play.

It is the newness of the university’s lacrosse program that appeals to Stover, who also considered Davidson and Temple.

Girls Lacrosse: North Penn grad Stover kicks off busy summer in Florida “It is awesome to join a program that just had their first season,” she said. “I am so excited because their program is new and I can come in and make a mark. I can come in with a bang.”

At North Penn Stover prided herself in bonding with the girls, being a leader, and as she put it, showing other girls how to love the game. It is such characteristics she intends to carry over to Coastal Carolina where, academically, she may explore working with special needs children.

However, she said she is open to all options. After all, many other doors are likely to open in the weeks and months following her arrival on campus. For now, the focus is on Florida and putting her game on display.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” she said.

Howard Pulley wins ESPN's AAU title behind 27 from Travis July 29, 2013

Reid Travis scored scored 27 points as the Minneapolis-based team won a national tournament.

Tyus Jones, Reid Travis and the Minneapolis-based Howard Pulley Panthers won eight games in five days to win the 2013 Champion ESPN Games AAU Boys’ Basketball 11th Grade Super Showcase Gold Division in Orlando.

Travis (DeLaSalle) scored a game-high 27 points in Sunday’s championship to lead Howard Pulley past Each 1 Teach 1 of Florida 79-72. The Panthers beat four teams from Florida, two from Ohio, one from Massachusetts and one from Virginia to finish undefeated.

“We’ve played tough teams like this one today all summer and played hard,” Howard Pulley coach Antwan Harris said in a press release. “We held them to one shot in the last minute and hit our free throws.”

The Gophers have offered scholarships to Jones (Apple Valley), Travis, and the Panthers’ Class of 2015 guard Jarvis Johnson (DeLaSalle).

Woofter, Barnes lead Post 13 to state win July 29, 2013

Tallahassee American Legion Post 13 beat Boynton Beach, 11-2, on Monday to remain undefeated in the American Legion State Tournament in Samford.

Garrett Woofter tossed a complete-game victory with nine strikeouts, while left fielder Jeff Barnes had four hits, scored three runs and made a sensational, leaping catch at the wall to rob a Boynton Beach player of a home run.

Woofter, Barnes lead Post 13 to state win “It’s one of the best catches I have ever seen at this level,” Post 13 manager Wes Singletary said. “He was playing shallow, but raced straight back and his glove and elbow were above the wall when he made the catch.”

Offensively, Post 13 also received two hits each from Tootie Wood and Dalton Dugger. Logan Smith belted a two-run double.

Post 13 was scheduled to play Jacksonville Post 88 late Monday night.

Gilmore shines Rickards High basketball player Michael Gilmore was a member of the Each 1 Teach 1 (E1T1) team that won the silver medal in the AAU 11th Grade Gold Division Super Showcase in the 2013 Champion® ESPN Games in Orlando over the weekend.

The tournament was played at the HP Fieldhouse at the Wide World of Sports Complex and the championship game was broadcast by ESPN3.

E1T1 played eight games over the course of five days, winning seven games before falling in the championship game.

Local youth field hockey team competed at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports complex July 31, 2013

The Marojoka FHC, a local U-14 youth field hockey team, competed along with over 90 teams at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The Marojoka FHC traveled from Bethlehem to Walt Disney World Resort July 20-23 to take part in the Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase, a USA Field Hockey sanctioned event.

Through an open registration process youth field hockey teams ages 9-13 are given the opportunity to compete against top competition at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in front of an audience of thousands of spectators. Highlights from their games may be seen on a variety of ESPN platforms such as the ESPNWWOS YouTube channel, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex digital network, and the Walt Disney World Resort dedicated in-room TV channel.

Concord's Victoria Moore plays lacrosse in AllAmerican Showcase August 1, 2013

Concord — A month before she leaves for Yale University, Victoria Moore got a taste of what lacrosse will be like for her during the next four years.

Last week, Moore, a Concord resident and recent graduate of Buckingham, Browne & Nichols, played in the Champion All-American Showcase at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. Moore’s team, known as Liberty, reached the championship before bowing to Pride, 15-11 in a game that was broadcast on ESPN3.

“It was a good push before college,” said Moore. “Every girl in the tournament was an All-American. Most will be playing for a Division I college. A lot of them are going to schools like Maryland and Northwestern, the top programs. Every game was extremely tight.”

On Moore’s team, two of her teammates were committed to play at Maryland, two at Northwestern and two at Duke.

U.S. Lacrosse selected each team so they were as balanced as possible, not only competitively, but also geographically.

“They tried not to put all the New England players on one team and all the Maryland players on another,” Moore said. “They wanted you to get to know girls from all over the country.”

Moore’s team played four games in the tournament, usually in the morning to avoid the Central Florida heat as much as possible. The game plans and strategies were kept simple so everyone could get on the same page as quickly as possible.

“It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be,” Moore said. “The first game was awkward because we didn’t know each other’s names well, but it was easy once we learned them.”

While the games were competitive, everyone was mindful of the fact that they were going to play in college next year and they didn’t want to do anything to unnecessarily risk injury.

“It was almost as if you thought you were going to hurt yourself or someone else, you’d take a step back,” Moore said. “Nobody wanted to get hurt. We didn’t have scouts watching us. It was a little more relaxed, but still intense.”

Moore had attended BB&N since the seventh grade. She played field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse and was a two-year captain in lacrosse. She was team MVP this spring and an Independent Schools

According to U.S. Lacrosse the Jackie Pitts Award honors “… a senior in each chapter who truly honors the game of lacrosse, is invested in the development of the game in her community, is an exceptional player who continually strives to improve her game, and is an exemplary member of her team. She exemplifies the spirit of the game, on and off the field. Academically, she is an outstanding student and a valued role model in her school.”

Moore also played for the Revolution Lacrosse program, a Boston-based club. “[The senior year at BB&N] was satisfying on a personal level,” Moore said. “I improved as a player and as a captain. I became a better leader.”

Moore leaves for Yale on Aug. 23 and starts training with the Bulldogs two weeks later.

Joining Moore in Florida was Clare Lyne of Concord, who recently graduated from the Middlesex School. A midfielder, Lyne played for Team Freedom. This fall, she will attend Trinity College, where she will play field hockey and lacrosse.

“She’s one of my best friends,” Moore said. “We played together in the ISL all-star game.”

Varsity boys' lacrosse: Shawnee senior earns MVP at showcase August 1, 2013 By: Celeste E. Whittaker

Shawnee High School rising senior Kyle Borbi stood tall under the glare of the national spotlight last week in Florida.

Borbi competed at the US Lacrosse All-American Showcase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney, joining 92 of the nation’s best boys’ lacrosse players, and he was a star among the stars.

The Notre Dame recruit scored two goals and had an assist in the Pride’s 11-10 overtime win over the Liberty in the championship game last Friday, which was televised nationally on ESPNU. He earned tournament MVP honors after scoring 12 goals and dishing nine assists at the three-day showcase event, which was sponsored by Champion.

‘Great experience’ “I was really excited about it,” said Borbi, a standout midfielder, who was one of eight rising seniors invited to play. “I figured out early in the summer that I was going to be able to play in it and then it was the last thing I did this summer for high school lacrosse. I was excited about it. It was a great way to end the summer.

“I was pretty surprised when they gave me the award. It was a really great experience.”

Varsity boys' lacrosse: Shawnee senior earns MVP at showcase The postseason all-star tournament involved four girls and four boys teams. Recent St. Augustine Prep graduates and Villanova recruits Adam Monticollo and Nate Gorman also played in the showcase.

Monticollo played for the Liberty and Gorman for the Pride with Borbi.

Borbi also was proud of recent Shawnee graduate Shannon Nugent, a University of Southern California recruit, who played in the championship game for the girls and scored a goal in the Liberty’s 15-11 loss to the Pride.

“You knew there were going to be a lot of kids out there that were going to be just as good as you, that were working just as hard,” Borbi said. “It’s kind of cool, measuring yourself and seeing how much better kids are around the country and not just in your area.”

He dealt with a hamstring injury for the majority of the spring, which limited his play to 11 games for the Renegades’ lacrosse team. Despite the injury, he scored 26 goals and had six assists for Shawnee (19-5), which won the South Jersey Group 3 title and made an appearance in the Group 3 state final, where the Renegades lost to Ridgewood 7-3.

“I tore the hamstring back in the first part of the season and I’ve been battling it since then,” said Borbi, who has 102 career goals. “I still had some problems with it this summer, but the last three or four weeks it’s started to feel like it’s 100 percent. I played about the first three weeks, then tore my hamstring. I came back later in the year, re-tore it. I did play in the state championship game, but was more jogging than sprinting.”

Borbi also plays football at Shawnee. The starting linebacker/wide receiver was scheduled to have minor surgery on his right wrist Wednesday to deal with bone fragments, but should only be sidelined for a few weeks.

“With my hand, I’ll be able to run around and stuff soon. I just won’t be able to hit and catch footballs, initially,” said Borbi, who also returns punts and kickoffs.

Impact player Shawnee coach Tim Gushue knows Borbi well. He coaches him in both football and lacrosse and says he can do it all.

“Kyle Borbi has been an impact player in both football and lacrosse since his freshman year,” Gushue said. “He is an explosive athlete in both sports. In football, he plays slot receiver, outside linebacker, defensive back, returns kicks and punts, as well as plays on our punt and kickoff teams. In a nutshell, he can do it all. In lacrosse, he is a superb player at both midfield and attack.”

Gushue said Borbi, an All-South Jersey performer by the Courier-Post the past two seasons in lacrosse, is also an excellent student, who received all A’s this past school year and that he’ll fit in well at Notre Dame.

“I’m going to college for lacrosse, so that’s more of my job to focus more on lacrosse,” he said. “But, during football season, football’s my favorite sport because playing on Friday nights for Shawnee is awesome.”
