GET TO KNOW TRI DELTA Since 1888, Tri Delta has welcomed more than 350,000 women into our sisterhood. We’re currently the second largest National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) organization, with more than 230,000 alumnae and more than 23,000 collegians. We are thrilled to be joining the Greek community at Xavier University as its first NPC sorority, and we can’t wait to welcome our founding class into our sisterhood this fall! Before you learn more about our history, our plans for Zeta Beta Chapter at Xavier and how you can join Tri Delta, we want to share with you a glossary of terms you may read and hear during the recruitment process. We hope they are helpful as you navigate the sorority experience for the first time. Glossary of NPC Terms Bid: An invitation for membership from a Panhellenic sorority to a potential new member (PNM). Bid Day: A day to celebrate and welcome the chapter’s new members. Big/Little: A mentor/mentee program within Tri Delta, in which younger members (“littles”) get paired with older members known as “bigs.”

Chapter: A local, campus-based group of members that belongs to a larger national or international sorority. Charter: The official document issued by Tri Delta’s Executive Office that authorizes a group of students on a specific college campus to operate as an official, recognized chapter of the organization. Continuous Open Bidding (COB): The process by which PNMs can join a Panhellenic sorority outside of formal recruitment. This process is typically more casual than Formal Recruitment and may include coffee dates or one-on-one hangouts. Delta Date: A casual conversation with a member of Team Tri Delta to learn more about the organization and how to join. This is not required to join Tri Delta. Delta Drop-In: A 15-minute interview with a Tri Delta alumna to learn more about Tri Delta and ask questions. Attendance is required to receive a bid to Tri Delta. Founding Class: The first group of members to join a Tri Delta chapter. Greek 101: A mandatory seminar for students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority at Xavier. Attendance is required to receive a bid to Tri Delta. Initiation: A ceremony where women are brought into full membership of a sorority. Installation: The ceremony officially welcoming a new chapter into Tri Delta.

GET TO KNOW TRI DELTA CONT. New Member: A woman who has accepted a bid from a sorority but is not yet an initiated, Active member of the chapter. Tri Delta new members receive five weeks of education on the organization’s values and history to prepare for Initiation. National Panhellenic Conference (NPC, Panhellenic): The world’s largest trade association specifically charged with advancing the sorority experience, made up of 26 values-based, women’s-only inter/national member organizations. Philanthropy: Each Panhellenic organization focuses on one cause or charitable partnership for service and fundraising efforts. Tri Delta’s philanthropic focus is treating and defeating childhood cancer through service to local and regional children’s hospitals, pediatric initiatives across North America, and our partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Potential Founding Member (PFM): Like a PNM but specifically used to describe the potential members of a founding class. Potential New Member (PNM): A PNM is any woman who is eligible to participate in sorority recruitment. Preference: The final round of recruitment. Attending Tri Delta’s preference ceremony is required to receive a bid to Tri Delta. Recruitment: The process by which a PNM joins a Panhellenic sorority. Zeta Beta Chapter: Each chapter of Tri Delta has a unique Greek letter name. The Tri Delta chapter at Xavier University is Zeta Beta Chapter.

SERVICE INSPIRED BY KINDNESS Founded as a society that would be kind alike to all, Tri Deltas are passionate about serving others. Nowhere is this more evident than in our commitment to three pillars of philanthropy: sisters helping sisters through Tri Delta’s Foundation, support for local hospitals as they treat and defeat childhood cancer, and our national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since 1999, Tri Delta has raised over $125 million for St. Jude. This record-breaking fundraising total ranks us in St. Jude’s top 10 corporate partners and as their top fundraising nonprofit—plus, it makes us their largest philanthropic partnership of any Panhellenic organization! It’s why St. Jude has named their short-term patient family housing “Tri Delta Place,” reserves summer internships exclusively for our collegians and has named us their Official Partner of Kindness. Our collegiate chapters play a huge role in this effort! Each chapter takes part in Sincerely Yours, our letterwriting campaign that raises more than $3 million each year, along with planning and executing their own philanthropy events. During the 2025-2026 academic year, our collegiate chapters together raised an astounding $7,024,395!

As a founding member, you will shape how Zeta Beta supports St. Jude. With the help and support of advisors and extensive training from St. Jude staff, you will plan and host philanthropy events that fit your chapter and the Xavier campus community. Your hard work will directly impact St. Jude’s mission to cure childhood cancer and move Tri Delta closer to our next goal of $100 million raised by 2038.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES IN TRI DELTA Want to become a leader in Zeta Beta Chapter right away? All founding members will meet regularly in small groups throughout your first semester. We will be choosing upperclassmen to serve as smallgroup leaders based on your one-on-one Delta Drop-In. In November, you can further develop Zeta Beta’s legacy by serving as a chapter leader. You will work with your chapter sisters, volunteers and Tri Delta consultants to slate your first team of officers. This is a fantastic opportunity for upperclassmen to hold leadership positions within their first year of membership. Travel to CLC and Convention … Each spring, select officers from all Tri Delta chapters travel to Dallas to attend our Collegiate Leadership Conference. Your chapter’s team will attend in April 2027 (and each year beyond) alongside hundreds of other leaders from colleges and universities across North America. Every two years, members of all ages gather for Tri Delta’s Convention—a chance to learn, celebrate and lead. Zeta Beta Chapter leaders will be invited to join us and serve as the voice of your chapter at Convention in Las Vegas in the summer of 2028!
