This book “ The Girl Who Dared to Dream” is inspired by my many interactions with a number of women. I see that some have lost hope and given up on their dreams or stopped dreaming because of the pressures of life. I want to encourage you to keep holding on and to keep dreaming. The future you desire starts from a dream. If you can dream it then you can achieve it. No dream is too small or too big, you just need to be determined to show up and consistently play full out until you get to that desired destination.

I hope that this book will keep you inspired and ignited to travel the long haul. Remember you just have to dare to dream and then be patient to call your dreams into manifestations. I shared aspects of my life journey in this book and I know that someone will have their dreams come alive as a result of engaging with this book.

Whenever I look back through the years, I sometimes have tears of joy running down my cheeks knowing how far I had to travel to get here. It has really been a journey of curves, turns, and twists. On many occasions, I thought of throwing in the towel and settling for less because I lost sight of how much my dreams meant to me. Each time this happened I had the opportunity of crawling back to a place of commitment. I don't take this for granted at all. I cannot ignore the role of grace and favor of God in my life because he knows that my dream will birth and nurture so many other dreams. So I ask, what is the motivation for your dream? Whom do you serve with your dream?

These are rhetoric questions, which only you can sincerely answer.

As you read through the pages of this book, I want you to be inspired to take solution-driven actions to birth your dream. Start from where you are, there is never a perfect time to start. While at it be comfortable with making mistakes and learning lessons along your journey.

I look forward to the transformations that this inspired book will birth.

About the Author Prof. Joy Ada Onyesoh is the International President of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and Country Director of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) Nigeria. Joy is also the President and Founder of 'Joy Onyesoh Foundation' (JOF). Prof. Joy Onyesoh has been an active member of (WILPF) since 2007. In 2011, she became the convenor of the (WILPF) Africa working group, and in 2024, the International Vice President, and the African liaison of (WILPF). On the 22nd of August 2018, during the historic 32nd annual Triennial International Congress of (WILPF), Dr. Joy Ada Onyeaoh was elected as the International President of (WILPF).

This is historic as she is the youngest, first black and African to hold the office of the International President of the 106 years old organization.

WILPF is the oldest international women’s peace organization in the world.

Prof. Joy Onyesoh is an alumnus of the prestigious Golda Meir MASHAV Carmel International Training Centre, Israel, and the Women’s Human Rights Institute of the University of Toronto, Canada. Joy has also earned several certificates in Transformative leadership, women and peace building, and Women Empowerment, amongst others. She is an inspirational Speaker and International Best-selling Author. Joy is the convener of She Speaks, Power Women Forum, and Broken but Remolded. She Hosts an online talk show program called, “Friday Night Hangout”, and is the Chief Executive Officer of the Power Women Magazine, and the President of the Power Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. Here are some ways I would develop a growth mindset in business.

To grow you need to be accountable, or willing to accept responsibility.

As an Entrepreneur, I would first start with being responsible and accountable to myself; for as we grow we’ll demonstrate accountability and its value to my team. The team will follow this lead with its proven method of making accountability the Company’s culture. Be an Expert in my field and stand out in my specialty. I would never focus on failure, only growing from mistakes. I would always put 100% of my time and effort into achieving 100% in return. You have to be purpose-driven doing what you love for those who love what you do. Knowing your purpose is important, it helps you to have fun delivering your products or services making your job a joyful place to be. Creating value would be another important role for me for you always want your customers proud of your products or services while creating fans through value creation. Be grateful for what you have now and for what you are going to achieve in faith forward motion on the things we may not have now.

Gratitude is a gift and a core requirement for a growth mindset; that energy draws people toward you and should be embraced. Being SelfAware has the power to align your will and humility, which attracts people to you through your purpose. I would build a culture whereby all employees were enabled and encouraged to develop growth mindsets and all be Inspired.

Have ever loved someone more than yourself? You put them first above all in your life! You probably answered yes if you are a mother or father! That little bundle of joy changed everything for you! It changed your decisions.

Your story and your purpose in life! And yes I had that experience when both my girls were born!

But then years later it happened in a flash! I looked into the faces of little girls in CPS custody. No mom. No dad.

No family and no hero coming to save the day! And my heart just melted! I knew they needed us. So the journey began.

I did not realize how much it takes to adopt. You think just wanting to give them a home and love them is enough but it is not. There are hours of training. The state gets into every part of your life! Your past, your present and your future. They talk to your friends, your family and your neighbors. You have background checks and classes. And home checks and vehicle checks. All to give little girls a new home.

Then the adjustment of no kids to lots of girls starts.

They get comfortable in their new home and personalities start to emerge. You see them become their own person again. They have fights, they have beautiful moments of love and they have moments of insecurity. All a part of little girls' lives.

They are just wanting to be loved, wanting a home, and security. and want to know you are going to stay and not let them down or leave them. So we step up and show them daily they are loved, safe, and home!

Signs That You Need to Change Direction in Life

It is important to identify when you are unhappy with your life and want to change where you are going. Some of the most common signs of needing a change in life are as follows: 1. You feel unhappy with your life and often reminiscence about the choices you made.

2. You feel as if you are forced to go against your morals and intuition at work or at home.

3. The situation that you find yourself in currently is causing you a lot of stress.

4. There is a fear or dread of the future and the consequences of your life decisions that have been causing you anxiety.

5. You feel like you had to give up on your passions and interests just to make it in this world.

6. The future that you are currently envisioning seems nothing like what practically lies ahead.

7. You find yourself surrounded by unhappy people who often think you’re too idealistic.

8. You often look forward to having a ‘good day’ even when nothing is particularly wrong with the days right now.

If you feel like most of these signs apply to you, then it’s time to reevaluate where you are headed in life and how you want to change that.

Keys I wish someone would have shared with me The 3 Key Phases of Life Before learning how to choose the right direction for yourself, first, we need to know about and understand the 3 key phases of life: The Learning Phase The Learning phase typically stretches from the age of five into the early twenties and its overriding characteristic is freedom.

Your thinking is unhindered, you are full of dreams and aspirations, and (usually) someone else is footing the bills. It’s not a cliché to say that schooldays, for many, really were the happiest days of their lives.

Contrast it with adult life – no one expects very much of you, and other than passing a few exams along the way and being self-disciplined; you can just swing along, having a great old time …

The Earning Phase The next phase is the Earning years; the period from leaving formal education (at 20-something) to retirement (at 50-something or 60something). Welcome to the grown-up world, welcome to the tax net.

The overriding concern in this Earning phase is the security. For many people, this phase tends to be all about generating sufficient income to pay the monthly bills. Reality bites. This can require sublimating the dreams of youth as a life of routine takes over. Few in the Earning years question the choices they have made because, typically, this questioning process can be quite disconcerting. I find this is particularly true of people who are less than happy with their working lives. Routine generation of wealth becomes paramount and you get swept along with the current. This is fine if you made sound choices in your late teens and early twenties with regard to your career. But if you didn’t … for routine, well it can read - being caught in a ‘RUT’.

The Yearning Phase What is yearning? Unfortunately, yearning is not the same as simple hankering, wanting, or desire. The dictionary definition of yearning is: “A feeling of intense longing for something lost, absent or unattainable.”

A bit gloomy. So for many people, the Yearning years are about looking back over a life not quite fulfilled and saying ‘I wish, I wish. If only - if only …’ With the wisdom of years comes regret for the road not taken, the too-conservative choices made. The wise old owl that I have talked to over the years, all speak with one voice on this.

It is better to look back and think, ‘I wish I hadn’t …’ rather than wistfully saying, ‘I wish I had …’

Think about where you are…

As you think about your career, your life, and your plans for the future, you are, at the very least, going to have to contemplate some uncomfortable choices about yourself, and your personal style. and your level of happiness. I make no apologies for this – that’s just life.

But I contend that it is better to take the time and spend the effort now to improve the choices that you make for later, rather than to have those choices made for you at a time that may not suit you.

Some people get these choices right early in their lives. Others come to a realization of the right path much later in life. I feel It’s never too early and it’s never too late – but you have to think about it.

Do you know at what phase of life are you now? Once you understand where you are now, the next step is to find the direction you want to move to.

You have the motivation and direction to take your life where you need it to be, you just need to get up and do it. The best time for change is now, and if you procrastinate any further you might miss out on a great opportunity.

To live a meaningful life, it is important to pick a direction that brings both peace and success. Here are some things to take into consideration when choosing a new direction in life: 1. Chose What Your Inner Child Would Want.

It is very important to acknowledge the needs and opinions of our ‘inner child.'

2. Think About The Things You Want To Change Make a list of the things in your current life that you are dissatisfied with and want to change. Then think of the alternative options you have to give yourself a life where you find happiness and fulfillment by avoiding these things. This will help you understand what must be done to feel good in life.

3. Find Inspiration to Follow Everyone has an idea of what they want in life and finding inspiration isn’t hard in this day and age. Just think about those you admire and see as role models and try to follow in their footsteps.

4. Be Clear on What You Don’t Want To Be. To find out where you want to be headed in life, try finding out where you don’t want to end up. This would help identify situations and places you would try and avoid at all costs. It keeps you on the right track.

5. Learn to Enjoy Where You Are. There is no such thing as a perfect life. Working hard and finding the things that make you happy and grateful is rewarding. Live in the moment, and appreciate the things you have. This helps us to see clearly the meaning of our lives.

6. Commit to Getting or Staying Healthy Nothing is more important than your mental, spiritual, and physical health. Having your life on the right path isn’t something you can achieve in a day. But, with hard work and dedication, you will get there!

7. Help Others In helping others you will increase your sense of purpose and improve your self-esteem. There are many ways to do this. Volunteer in your community, mentor young people, or just help a neighbor. You will be surprised by the feeling you will have after.

Start By Making Changes Today.

After reading all this, you are surely ready to change the direction of your life. Start by making a change today instead of just thinking about it.

Every difficult journey starts with a single step, and this is the sign to take yours. Once you make one change, the rest follow, and soon your life will be exactly how you want it to be. Now and well into the future.

Seeing The World From A Higher Perspective Imagine that you had access to all the information there was. At any point in time, you would know the total and complete reality. There would be no missing information. You would see every situation clearly.

There would be no doubt or fear. There would be nothing missing or unknown. This is the higher perspective. Now imagine that you have no access to this information. What if all you knew now was all you would ever know? What if no new information could come to you or anyone else? Since there are so many unknowns, you could not really discern the true reality from the illusion. This gap in information would give rise to fear and doubt. This lack of information would create a limited perspective.

You do not have all the information. There are many unknowns that exist in your reality. However, you and all of humanity have access to the infinite intelligence of the universe. One day your society will understand this mechanism. Until then, you can seek and find all the information you need to explore reality as you intended prior to your birth. It is all there waiting for you. All you have to do is understand how the flow of information works. You must first realize that you do not manufacture thoughts and ideas in your mind. You receive them by becoming a vibrational match to the information. You find a goodfeeling state of being and you come into the vibrational range of the idea.

This is how inspired ideas flow to all humans. Most of those brilliant humans who receive wonderful new ideas believe that they came up with the idea themselves. They do not realize that the idea was delivered to them the moment they became a match to the idea.

Desire is what launches you on a trajectory to becoming a match for everything you want including new thoughts and ideas. The desire is the engine of manifestation and it will take you there as long as you do not resist the path you must travel. As long as you remain a willing participant, you will receive all that you need to do whatever you need to do, and that includes the ideas and inspiration to move you along that path. You need nothing other than to receive the ideas and then the courage to act on them. If you have fear, you will limit some of the ideas from coming to you as well as some of the actions you must take to develop those ideas.

In order to reduce the limiting effects of a narrow perspective, you must find a way to reduce the element of fear. You can realize that fear arises from a limited perspective because, in the lack of information, you see the illusion of reality that seems dangerous. In truth, there is nothing to fear. If you were to suddenly receive all the information regarding any situation or topic, the fear would vanish. Therefore, you must find a way to receive more information on your own. You do this by imagining what you would know if you had more information.

You personally will never have all the information, so you are left with two options. You can continue to allow the lack of information to cause you to take the limited perspective or you can seek a higher perspective.

If you choose the limited perspective, you will constantly be engaged in a state of fear. This is the old approach to life of victimhood. The indulgence in the limited perspective is a form of control. You assume you are a victim and so you seek to protect yourself by fearing the worst.

In the new approach to life, you recognize that you are the creator of your reality and so you choose your perspective in order to reduce the limiting effects of fear. You work on your own limiting beliefs. You accept all that exists as right for you. You define your personal preferences and leave everything else to everyone else.

Many people will not follow you to the higher perspective. They firmly believe that what they know is true. They do not look beyond that which they believe. However, if limiting beliefs exists, it is false; it does nothing other than creating an illusory version of reality. It is not the true reality.

It is a way of looking at problems as wrong and tending to be defeated by those problems. In reality, there are no real problems because the solution to every potential problem already exists and someone will become a match for it when the time is right. Therefore, you never need to worry. Worry and all other negative emotions come from submitting to a limited perspective.
