TONY AMON IS INCOMING PRESIDENT OF APOGLA By Dan E. Nino Antonio “Tony” Amon, a registered financial advisor, consultant and businessman was elected as the new president of the Alpha Phi Omega of Greater Los Angeles. Amon who was initiated from Far Eastern University (Alpha Chapter) also graduated with B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree from this university where Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) was founded and formed its first chapter. He will succeed Mike “Boy” Medina, who was initiated from Manila Central University (Nu Chapter). Comprising the 2020 officers include Jobee Jovellanos, as vice president, Marisol Lee, secretary; Troy Agagon, treasurer, EmmaGalang, auditor; Dan E. Nino, public relations officer and Liza Valera and Glenda Tavera as Sgt.-at-Arms. Appointed as presidential advisors are Edgar Ninofranco, Eric Serrano and Lito Tarculas. Members of the Board are Mike Medina, Tony Amon, Victor Paredes, Rene Calvario, Alex Pastores, Hazel Salas and Ronald Paras. In accepting his nomination speech, Amon said, “APOGLA is a well-oiled machine. We are well established. We don’t have to change anything anymore except to improve if there are still things to improve upon. My main intention is to develop more leaders.” He quoted Indian political ethicist Mohandas Gandhi, “A sign of a good leader is not how many followers you have but how many leaders you have created.” Amon added, “Through successful recruitment, we can increase the number of members, hence we will be able to develop more leaders. Quality members are from the quantity of members. With the proper use of our resources, we will reach out to all members, both active and inactive and potential new members.” Continued on page 3
