Isauro “Bonjie” Ingco
A Dear F riend Travels to the Gr ea yond Friend Grea eatt Be Bey By Bro. Toti Ayo Brother Isauro Ylagan Ingco, a dear friend, a brother in Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines), Alpha Eta Chapter ’69, a staunch defender and a strong pillar of APOGLA, has come to pass at the age of 67. Brother Bonjie as we all know him, is a beloved brother to his siblings, a dear father to his children and a loving grandpa to his grandchildren. Basically, we grew up together in this North American land - emigrating from the Philippines in 1979 and 1980. We were young and naïve, so to speak - but ready to venture into a new land of opportunity and optimism. We had fun, together with some of the older folks (literally and figuratively J) whom we mingle with today in Alpha Phi Omega Greater Los Angeles. We had fun, even boisterous at times, especially during our Hobart Days which we shall long remember. We shared many of the best of our dreams. We embarked on the same journey on this land knowing we had a fighting chance to thrive. We celebrated many triumphs and milestones. There wasn’t a moment where we renounced or gave up our fraternal bonds - especially when times were tough and the tides were rough. We had quite a few hurts and disappointments if only to test our resolve. But it only made us stronger. No second thoughts about our commitment. Together, unbowed and unashamed, we shed a tear or two and sometimes quite a few. But we never let go of our friendships. We never wavered. We sealed it tight and for good reasons. Whatever there is in an organization we were a part of, our fraternal brotherhood brought us together on a life long journey in a foreign land, which turned out not to be that foreign after all. He was my VP when we, the Alpha Phi Omega of Southern California, now our APOGLA reorganized in August, 1984.
