National Founder’s Day

Dear brother,

Greetings! I’m thrilled to share some updates about the amazing year we’ve had as a chapter In the last year, we’ve been delighted to welcome nine new brothers into our family in the fall and eleven new candidates for this spring. It’s been a year of hard work, achievements, and memories that have strengthened our bond together and pushed us to new heights.

With the success of the Spring 2024 pledge class, brothers have been inspired to maintain our upwards growth in recruitment, as demonstrated by our increase in fall pledge class size from 2023 to 2024. With just over fifty active members and eleven new candidates, we have maintained our growth and are continuing to find new ways to improve on our

recruitment and retention. Academic excellence has also always been a top priority for our chapter, and this past year was no exception. Brothers earned 3.42 and 3.38 average GPAs in our previous spring and fall semesters, respectively, remaining among the highest in IFC. Seven brothers achieved a 4 0 GPA last semester We are so proud of the dedication our brothers have shown in their academic pursuits over the past year.

Besides academics, leadership and involvement have always been a cornerstone of our chapter’s identity, and this year has been nodifferent. The majority of our brothers hold leadership positions in campus organizations, ranging from the Engineering E-Council to the Boxing Club. Additionally, two

of our brothers were recognized for their leadership in the most recent awards cycle in SFL. Steven Egnaczyk was awarded the Time and Change award for his time on the executive board of IFC. Max Martin received the IFC New Member of the Year award for his innovation and contributions to this fraternity While we celebrate these successes, we also recently bid farewell to five of our outstanding brothers who graduated in the fall. It is thanks to their hard work that the chapter has come this far. Nevertheless, I am confident that we will continue to push the limits of what a fraternity can be. I am excited to see what this year has in store, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you.

Fall Break with Virginia Tech Chapter

This past October, over twenty brothers stayed in a house on Lake Anna in Virginia over fall break. After a hike through Shenandoah, our trip culminated in a visit to Virginia Tech where the local Triangle chapter kindly toured us around their campus and hosted us for our final night on the road.

Philanthropy

The philanthropy machine at OSU Triangle was firing on all cylinders throughout the fall semester as well. Across the three major events we staged - Triangle Battleship, Triangle Toast, and ExtraLife - our chapter was able to raise nearly $5,000 for our

partner FIRST Robotics, including $4,000 during our ExtraLife streaming marathon alone. We would like to take this chance to sincerely thank all of the alumni and families who were generous enough to donate during the event.

They Have an Arcade Machine?

Over the course of the fall semester, a handful of motivated brothers led by our Brotherhood chair Tyler Dominak split into two teams with the goal of creating an original arcade machine from scratch using the Engineering Makerspace on our campus. The semester project featured woodworking, laser cutting, assembly, painting, and programming with a RaspberryPi.

ALUMNI/ACTIVE SPOTLIGHTS

Miles Johnson

In 2024, alumnus Miles C. Johnson was inducted into the national Triangle Wall of Fame. Initiated into the Ohio State chapter in 1959, Miles worked at Lockheed Martin for 32 years following his graduation from Ohio State. There he held many different positions, including but not limited to Guidance & Control Engineer, Launch Conductor, Chief System Engineer, and Vice President of Special Programs. On behalf of the entire active chapter here at Ohio State: congratulations, Mr Johnson!

Brothers of the 80s

Over this past summer, nine members of our alumni community gathered in Grosse Ile, MI to celebrate the 60th birthday of Don Maatz, initiated 1989.The rest of these brothers were also initiated together in the 1980's.

Nolan Meister

Few brothers throughout the fall semester contributed as much to the strength of the fraternity as EVP Nolan Meister, who made an effort to play a significant role in the success of many social, brotherhood, and philanthropy events. This included dying his own hair scarlet and gray for our ExtraLife fundraiser, which netted us a national championship. Leave it to him to get the job done!

Social Butterflies... Social Smurfs?

As is the case with any other semester, we took the opportunity to put on multiple social events and got the chance to unwind from our demanding STEM coursework. In addition to various open events, we also kept our relationships with OSU sororities strong through partnered events with Gamma Phi Beta, Delta Omega Kappa, Delta Phi Lambda, Alpha Sigma Upsilon, and Delta Phi Omega, our fall block partners. It’s not far-fetched to say that the future is bright for our chapter’s social presence on campus as we continue striving to make new connections and solidify existing ones as a group.
