APRIL 12, 2025 Formal
Arctic alumni, we want to hear from you! Share your exciting news, your favorite Triangle photos/stories from the past, etc., for a chance to be featured in the newsletter!
After a long hiatus, we are proud to announce that, with the help of National Headquarters, the biannual alumni newsletter for the Arctic Chapter of Triangle is back for the first time since 2015. This newsletter is part of our efforts to strengthen connections with alumni and encourage greater involvement in the fraternity.
This year, the Arctic Chapter has increased its involvement on campus. For Homecoming this past fall, we partnered with the sorority Phi Delta Chi to
participate in various events, and we are excited to collaborate with them again for Winter Carnival this spring. Additionally, for the first time in many years, we are entering the month-long statue competition. We continue to host service events such as Pi Mile in the fall and Extra Life in the spring, while also making a meaningful impact in our community through various other initiatives.
We continue to sponsor our philanthropy events, Pi Mile in the fall and Extra Life in the spring. This semester, we are looking to expand Extra Life by hosting it in the Wadsworth Dining Hall and collecting donations from students who attend, in addition to our online viewers. We hope to revive this tradition, which was lost several years ago, while also strengthening our connection to campus culture in the spring—just as we do in the fall with Pi Mile
This year for Winter Carnival, the theme is "Dragons, Knights, and Legendary Sights." Our statue features a dragon encircling a ruined tower. We've brought out the old forms and have been working on the statue for the past month.
This year, the school has provided a large budget to all organizations participating in the month-long statue category. We've used this budget to purchase new tools and materials, which will benefit not only this year’s build but future projects as well.
We have participated in several events organized by the city of Hancock, most notably the Finnish midwinter festival, Heikinpäivä Our chapter assists with event setup and participates in the parade. A brother has taken on a lead role in the parade as “The Swan,” an important character in Finnish folklore
In addition to statue building, we participated in the Ice Bowling event, where we launched one of our members at giant bowling pins in the hockey arena.
We are also competing in broomball this year as the Ice T’s, playing in the competitive league. We've already had several games this semester,
Last semester, we implemented our sweetheart program, initiated by Brother Sebastian Adams during his time as president. It honors close friends of the fraternity, recognizing their special connection Sweethearts don’t hold responsibilities or privileges but are invited to the semesterly Sweetheart Dinner. We announce new sweethearts and celebrate with a meal We had beef brisket pho with crab rangoons, and we plan to continue this tradition with top-tier food prepared by our brothers.
which have been a blast. Several brothers who aren’t on the team come out to cheer us on, and even esteemed alumnus Nick Huetteman has called in to support us while watching the broomball livestream.
Daniel Masker, who goes by Dasker, is a PhD student in computer science and currently teaches a CS class at the school He exemplifies our ideals for academics through his dedication to his studies. Outside of academics, Dasker serves as the web developer on the broomball committee, managing the website (and possibly rigging brackets in our favor). Since joining, he has earned another nickname in the fraternity "For the Love of the Game" due to his enthusiasm for games, sometimes a little too much
Matthew is a first-year chemical engineering major from Avon, Indiana He has been actively involved in many of the fraternity’s activities and has quickly become a valued member in his first semester. Despite being new, Matthew was elected as our recruitment chair and has done an excellent job coordinating rush events and communicating with potential new members Like Dasker, Matthew has already earned a nickname: "Hurricane Matthew."
Watch our Extra Life stream in March to engage with active brothers and donate to help raise money for children's hospitals.

Despite being a Norush, Ethan still decided to rush Triangle A cybersecurity major, he has been a wonderful addition to the fraternity. Ethan exemplifies our ideals of brotherhood by staying involved and always contributing to the events he attends. His love for baking has made a lasting impression, as he brings homemade bread with him whenever he shows up Due to his unprompted baking generosity, Ethan has earned the nickname "Doughboy "

Our CEF fund has been used in recent semesters to cover regular expenses such as Wi-Fi, paper, markers, and other office supplies for the chapter room. Given that we do not anticipate major expenditures in the near future, we are considering using the surplus from the CEF to offer scholarships to our brothers.
By investing in the endowment fund, you are fostering a legacy of excellence and camaraderie, ensuring that the values and traditions of Triangle continue to thrive at MTU. Join us in making a lasting impact on the lives of future brothers.
