A Strong Start to the Semester at the Arctic Chapter

Here at the Arctic Chapter we started our semester strong with our alumni reunion. Thank you to all our alumni who came up to show their love for our chapter and brothers. The brotherhood had a great time engaging with all the alumni and is proud to see the strong history of brotherhood our chapter has. The alumni Reunion consisted of a campus tour, a banquet at the Continental Fire Co. and our classic pancake breakfast the next morning. Many alumni also visited Hungarian Falls and Breakers to enjoy the scenery of the Upper Peninsula once more.

The semester has continued to go well for Arctic Chapter with a strong recruitment season and a well fought attempt in the homecoming cardboard boat races.

Pinning

Pinning Ceremony Recruitment this semester has gone exceedingly well. Some of

our most successful rushes being Guitar Hero in Fisher Hall and the Hungarian Falls hike. This past week on September 27th we pinned the Gamma Alpha class with 7 new members Making this being one of the larger pledge classes we have had as a chapter. Pinning was held on the top of Mont Ripley, overlooking Houghton. These new members are exemplary men who embody the values of Triangle.

Homecoming

This year our chapter participated in the homecoming cardboard boat races, led by our not so fearless or competent Admiral, Dasker Masker. The boat had been constructed out of many cardboard boxes for structure that were held together by a thin outer wall of cardboard, then wrapped in duct tape for waterproofing. The idea of the design was there would be enough buoyancy to float no matter what happened when we hit the water. This may

House Maintenance and Repairs Update

The chapter continues to experience issues with the basement, including new cracks in the foundation that allow water to leak in during rainfall. While this problem is less severe in the winter months, it has made living conditions in the basement challenging. Mike Fouts and TBHC are actively seeking contractors to address the issue, though progress has been limited so far.

have floated our boat but it did not last. Despite the efforts of the brothers to continue on, the boat had flipped twice and ultimately was captained all the way to the bottom of the bay under the ever questionable lead of Admiral Dasker. Dasker has for several years, leading to heavy ice buildup during the winter. As the ice melts and falls in the spring, it causes gradual roof damage and poses a serious safety risk to members and visitors, as large sheets of ice fall along commonly used walkways. It is imperative that a proper deicing solution be installed as soon as possible

and woodwork from grease buildup over time.

During the alumni reunion, a leaking toilet on the second floor was discovered due to an incorrect installation. Thanks to the support of our alumni, the necessary replacement part was ordered and installed, successfully resolving the issue.

Another significant concern is the buildup of ice on the roof. The heating wire system designed to prevent ice accumulation has been broken

Several smaller repairs and improvements are also underway. These include fixing the kitchen window and installing a proper ventilation system. The current lack of ventilation has occasionally set off the fire alarms and caused damage to the ceiling

SUPPORT MTU’S LEGACY

This semester marks the first time our new scholarship program has been in effect. Excess funds from our CEF have been used to create a scholarship awarded to the top three freshman or sophomore applicants who embody our values. Our CEF has also been used to purchase sewing equipment and fabric for brothers to practice sewing and begin making homemade letters. With this new equipment, we’ve started a tradition of pledge fathers creating letters to pass down to their littles.

By investing in the Chapter Endowment Fund, you are fostering a legacy of excellence and camaraderie, ensuring that the values and traditions of Triangle continue to thrive at Michigan Tech. Your support helps provide opportunities for personal growth, academic success, and meaningful brotherhood for generations to come. Join us in making a lasting impact on the lives of future brothers.
