The small amount of rain that hit the Tri-Cities last weekend has done little to change

the area’s dry conditions and local fire chiefs are warning the public to continue to be vigilant with flammable material.

On Monday, the B.C. Wildfire Service listed the fire danger as “moderate” and, over the weekend, the rating dropped down to “low.”

But Coquitlam Fire Chief Wade Pierlot said it does not take long for the fire risk to

ramp up again and people need to continue to be cautious.

“People’s awareness level drops with that rating and that is something that I don’t find helpful,” Pierlot said. “Another couple of days like today [Tuesday] and we could be on our way to a ‘high’ and then an ‘extreme.’”

The rating system is based on humidity levels and several

other indexes, and includes a ground moisture content measurement from several areas around the Lower Mainland.

Because the measurements are taken from a few fixed areas, Pierlot said it does not give a full picture of the variations that can occur from one part of the region to another. see CONSERVATION, page A6

The Port Coquitlam-based I Am Someone Ending Bullying Society has entered a new chapter in its efforts to battle bullying with a new texting platform for young people who need support and a teen spokesperson who has personal experience with cyberbullying.

Sienna Leone, who was recently crowned Miss Teenage BC 2015 and is heading to Toronto to compete for the national crown, has agreed to be the spokesperson for I Am Someone to get teens to text 211 if they need help.

The service, which began as a community response to the death of bullied PoCo teen Amanda Todd and the suicides of a number of other local youth, and was piloted with Telus funds this winter, has now expanded.

Teens as far away as the Fraser Valley, the Sunshine Coast and Hope, in addition to the Tri-Cities and the rest of Metro Vancouver, can now text 211 to get help from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

Experts will provide teens with appropriate confidential support and, according to Leone, teens struggling with bullying, grief, thoughts of suicide and other issues will get the kind of help they need when they want it and how they want it — via anonymous text.

“It’s comforting, it’s a safe zone,” said Leone, who said she had a bad experience with bullying in Grade 6 and would have benefited from a program like 211.

Recounting that experience, she said standing up for a friend who was bullied made her a social outcast and Leone said she had to go to the police because of death threats.

Eventually, after being home schooled and then changing schools, the cyberbullying died down, but Leone said it took a

Now, the Vancouver teen says she wants to raise awareness about the I Am Someone society and its 211 texting so more kids aren’t hurt.

“This could save someone’s life,” she said.

Erin Moore, the society’s new executive director, also said she thinks the 211 texting program will make a difference for B.C. teens because more young people will have access to it through an agreement recently reached with the nonprofit bc211. Prior to a memorandum of understanding, I Am Someone had another texting program called 2Talk but it ran out of funding, so the number was switched to 211, Moore said.

The goal has always been to get the texting support program operating and to provide as much access as possible, and bc211 provided the vehicle to make it happen.

“We saw the numbers go up,” said Moore, who said that the main concerns of teens who texted during the pilot are mental health, loneliness, gangs, sexual exploitation, date violence, hate crimes, discrimination and abuse.

Still, funds are needed to keep the program going, and a fundraising campaign is in the works.

In the meantime, teens can text 211 to get help and Moore expects the program to grow as teens find out about it. “The average teen texts 3,400 times a month,” Moore said. “They text — they don’t pick up the phone. Rocky Point Park was a heady mix of live music, cold brews and sticky fingers — thousands upon thousands of them — at the inaugural Port Moody RibFest over the weekend.

Ian MacPhail of the Rotary Club of Port Moody estimated that, despite some rain on Saturday and Sunday, there were a whopping 40,000 hungry visitors to the three-day event, well over the 30,000 organizers had been expecting.

“It was a fantastic weekend,

it couldn’t have been better,” MacPhail said, noting the partnership with the city of Port Moody was key to the event’s success. “It really was packed, so it was almost a blessing in disguise to have a bit of rain.”

The festivities ran from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, featuring a rotating roster of live music throughout each day as well as a family fun zone and two beverage gardens. RibFest attendees looking for a delicious dinner outdoors likely noticed the numbers swelled from about 3 to 6 p.m., with little downturn on the final day.

“In terms of the crowd, it was pretty solid all the way through,” MacPhail said, with no issues that required police response.

And while organizers are basking in the success of the event (of which The TriCity News was a sponsor), MacPhail said they won’t know for some time how much money was raised from the 50/50 draw, Rib Runner service and the corn and beer sales.

They’re also keen to improve on the event for a hoped-for RibFest 2016, particularly in keeping the beer, food and washroom line-ups moving quickly and in finding an efficient — and effective — way to keep garbage, recyclables and organics properly sorted.

(Separate organics bins were not provided because the cost to dispose of food waste contaminated by garbage would be prohibitive.)

“We think we can do much, much better for next year,” MacPhail said, though whether the event returns is up to city council. “If we go by the comments of patrons on social media, it was an unqualified success.”

MacPhail also praised the work of the more than 200 volunteers who helped throughout the weekend.

“They really stepped up, they were really outstanding,” he said. “And I have to include Mayor [Mike] Clay — he was the only volunteer who was also judging, served beer, sold 50/50 tickets, cleaned tables — he did absolutely every job and to have the mayor doing that says something about the success of the event.” spayne@tricitynews.com @spayneTC

Police are searching for two suspects who held up the Burke Mountain 7-Eleven at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung said police are looking for a man described as 5’8” tall with a medium build, and a woman, about 5’5” with a slim build, in connection with the 4 a.m. armed robbery. Nobody was hurt.

Forensic identification officers were at the store, which is open 24 hours a day, throughout the morning to examine the scene.

A man was arrested Monday evening after he had barricaded himself inside a home in Burquitlam.

Police responded to the incident at about 5:30 p.m. and, for the safety of the other residents, they evacuated the home.

Port Coquitlam is cracking down on property owners who don’t follow the water rules set

by Metro Vancouver.

On Monday, the city’s finance committee voted to dip into a reserve to hire two “water ambassadors” for the summer. The public outreach program is budgeted to cost $10,000.

And at the city council meeting later that evening, councillors promoted two more bylaw officers to have enforcement powers and the ability to issue tickets.

Kristen Meersman, the city’s director of engineering and operations, told The Tri-City News last week the water ambassadors will be casual employees who will educate, make inspections on behalf of bylaw enforcement officers and issue notices to violators.

According to her committee report, PoCo has logged an average of eight complaints a day since Metro Vancouver activated its Stage 2 water restrictions on July 3.

The Tri-Cities’ “Three Amigos” are challenging mayors across the country to raise one dollar from each of their residents — 35 million Canadians — in honour of the 35th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.

“While advances in diagnosis, treatment and outcomes for those with cancer have dramatically improved in the last 35 years, there is still much more than can be achieved if we all try,” said PoCo Mayor Greg Moore in a letter to mayors across the country.

Mayors can publicly challenge a neighbouring community to raise more funds or enter more participants in the Terry Fox Run, or challenge a community that hasn’t had a Terry Fox Run to begin organizing one.

The Mayors’ Challenge also suggests getting local schools, chambers of commerce and faith communities on board, hosting a fundraiser among

POCO MAYOR GREG MOORE city staff and residents, and challenging the business community and local sports teams to support the cause.

Mayors Moore, Richard Stewart (Coquitlam) and Mike Clay (Port Moody) have been promoting the Mayors’ Challenge since they attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities meeting last month. Donna White of the Terry Fox Foundation’s BC/ Yukon branch said they’ve already heard from cities inspired to start organizing a run in their communities.

“Terry’s dream was a dollar from every Canadian and, 35 years later, we have 35 million people in our country, so why not see that dream realized in his honour again?” asked White.

PoMo’s Clay said his city will

be looking to meet a significant goal this year to mark the 35th anniversary.

“With a population of 35,000 and our average fundraising total of between $6,000 and $9,000, reaching the goal of $1 per resident will be a challenge for sure,” Clay said. “We’ll be working to encourage people to come out and run but also to donate, even if they aren’t doing the run.

“Terry started something very important for our entire country and we honour his dream every year. If he could see the progress we have made in cancer research and treatment because of him… he might still be here today to actually see it.”

Pierlot said firefighters have had to deal with a number of boulevard fires from discarded cigarettes, which continue to be the biggest problem his department has faced as a result of the dry conditions.

The city is also considering banning charcoal briquettes, which when discarded improperly have caused fires in parks and recreation areas.

Port Coquitlam Fire Chief Nick Delmonico concurred with Pierlot, saying the recent rain only dampened the surface.

“We are not even in the

main part of the fire season,” he said. “The bulk of it is in July and August… A small amount of rain does not change things.”

Delmonico said that like Coquitlam firefighters, his crews have dealt with cigarette and barbecue issues.

But there have also been a handful of camp fires along the Coquitlam River that have required intervention.

Last Friday, Port Moody Fire Rescue issued a warning to residents reminding them to be careful with cigarettes on local parks and trails.

The department also recently announced restrictions that prohibit campfires, tiki torches, fireworks, firecrackers and barbecues in city parks

that require charcoal briquettes or wood.

“Smoking is not permitted in our parks and trails at any time,” said PoMo Fire Chief Remo Faedo in a press release.

“But with the current extreme fire hazard conditions, it’s critical that people refrain from smoking in these vulnerable areas.”

Low reservoir levels are also changing the way the fire departments conduct training, with both PoCo and Coquitlam suspending drills involving water for the time being. POCO TRAGEDY

Man dies in fall at construction site A Coquitlam man in his 20s died Saturday after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment building under construction.

The young man was hanging out with friends at the building on Pitt River Road in Port Coquitlam when, shortly before 11:30 p.m., he leaned against a temporary railing on a fourth-floor balcony. The railing gave way and the man fell to the ground below.

His friends immediately called 911 but despite attempts by his friends and emergency personnel to

resuscitate him, he died of his injuries.

Coquitlam RCMP cautioned people to stay off construction sites, which are off limits to those who are not authorized, noting that the consumption of alcohol or drugs can make an already dangerous situation even more so.

A road that’s supposed to be a major thoroughfare for thousands of new Burke Mountain residents will likely be more of a squiggly line through farm land.

Tomorrow (Thursday), two Port Coquitlam committees will consider a recommendation from the city’s managers of planning and engineering that suggests running the planned Fremont connector — from Prairie to Lincoln avenues — up Devon Road is the best way to go.

While that eastern route is the least direct alignment of the three options to Burke Mountain, given its two curves, it’s also the cheapest to build, has the least impact on property and the environment, is far away from St. Thomas Street homes and doesn’t need approval from the Agricultural Land Commission.

In March, PoCo city council voted to run Fremont connector up Burns Road to Prairie Avenue but it stopped short on picking a route north of Prairie to link with Lincoln at the Coquitlam border.

Instead, city council instructed staff to find a route that would be at least 150 m away from St. Thomas Street homes so they wouldn’t have traffic near their backyards.

Coun. Brad West, who chairs the city’s transportation solutions and public works committee (which will meet Thursday with the smart growth committee), told The Tri-City News his goal is to keep the road away from PoCo homes.

“From my initial read of the report, it would suggest the easterly Devon Road is the

one that achieves that,” he said Tuesday.

The PoCo committees have three options to consider for the north Fremont connection: • an eastern alignment, running along the existing Devon Road and affecting one house (cost: $5 million to $9.7 million, depending on watercourse enclosures); • a central alignment, run-

ning between Devon Road and the BC Hydro lines, severing eight farms and removing four buildings (cost: $8.7 million to $12.7 million); • and a western alignment, running close to the BC Hydro lines but still 150 m away from St. Thomas Street backyards, severing eight farms and removing two buildings (cost: $7.9 million to $12.3 million).

Area residents invited to a city meeting last month voiced concern with the latter two options as their properties would be too small to farm, according to the managers’ report.

The routing of the two-lane collector up to the Coquitlam boundary has been a source of contention between the two cities.

About a year ago, PoCo said it would not follow Fremont Road and, instead, offered alternate routes to mitigate impact on its residents.

Coquitlam, on the other hand, has insisted a direct northsouth road would be best to handle the future traffic volume.

Coquitlam is planning to accommodate 20,000 more residents on Burke Mountain over the next decade or so.

B.C. is burning. What do we do?

T

here was something almost Hollywoodlike about the sky over Metro vancouver last week. The golden-red light that glowed behind the heavy haze was eerily beautiful — in a beginning-of-the-end-of-theworld sort of way. and it was a reminder that it’s time we all started taking climate change and its many associated effects on the planet seriously.

We’re done with the deniers and the governments that push environmental issues to the bottom of the pile in a quest for economic growth in unsustainable forms. We cannot afford to take our world for granted anymore.

Consider these numbers, courtesy of Sierra Club bC: In the past five years, b.C. has had an average of 320 wildfires per year, burning 12,744 hectares. This year, with most of the summer still to come and no rain in sight, there have already been 843 fires and 129,028 hectares burned.

From elementary school to BMX gold for Nyhaug The Editor, I join with others in congratulating Coquitlam’s Tory Nyhaug on his gold medal in BMX at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.

Eva Collins and I had the pleasure of teaching Tory in our Grade 4 class at Riverview Park elementary in Coquitlam. He was nine years old at the time and was very involved in sports outside of school — BMX and hockey in particular — and at school he excelled in all physical education activities.

Each morning, our class of kids would line up at the out-

side door in two lines. One line of kids would make a beeline for the classroom as soon as the door was opened. Tory would be in this line.

The other line would be composed of individuals who wanted to share a story or a drawing or a concern and who wished a private audience with the teacher before their school day began.

One day, I was standing at the open door and I was bent forward looking down at a drawing a student wanted to share. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Tory about to

pass by me to my left.

Then, WHAM! Tory lowered his shoulder, made contact with me and checked me firmly into the door of the classroom.

When I recovered, I looked up. Tory met my gaze and said in all seriousness and without a hint of a smile: “Remember, Mrs. Phillips, it is important to keep your head up at all times.”

Then he proceeded into the classroom.

This was a fine piece of advice and I remember fondly the student who shared it with me.

How absurd to compare dog urination and defecation to smoking in public.

It is not a matter of fairness to others — second-hand

smoke causes cancer.

Yes, I agree that it is gross when dogs urinate or defecate in areas frequented by people, especially children, but let’s be realistic.

What about all the wildlife that does the same? Have you ever been to Lafarge Lake amongst

the goose poop? Robert Hope Park and the bear patties?

What about parents who let their little boys just drop their pants and urinate any old place?

Please do not take your personal cleanliness issues and use dogs as a forum to vent.

Prepare for a giant puppet parade in PoCo with Esdale Janis Warren

Port Coquitlam’s artist-inresidence wants people to slow down — if not for themselves, for the little people in the community.

“We’re a city full of families,” said Jennie Esdale, a mother of two toddlers. “We have to stop rushing around and take care in our surroundings.”

Her main project this month is to build a giant puppet to parade around the PoCo farmers’

market on Thursday, July 30.

Titled Spirit of our Children, the puppet will be an unusual display that she hopes will turn heads and give pause to market shoppers and vendors — a kind of visual reminder about the kids who growing up in PoCo, she said.

Esdale also hopes she gets some more hands to help her create the papier mache and fabric showcase.

On Thursdays, between 1 and 3 p.m., Esdale will lead free drop-in workshops in

the Gathering Place at Leigh Square Community Arts Village (beside PoCo city hall).

Participants are asked to bring streamers, balloons, ribbons, kites, small towns or other objects to beautify the giant puppet. Esdale, who ends her puppet and mask-making residency on Sept. 26, has been at Leigh Square since the spring. In April, she started her first residency with her company, Green Fools Theatre, of Calgary, AB.

Filling the void with funk and soul sounds

About a decade ago, Port Moody resident and longtime civic volunteer George Balzer was disappointed as he took his regular runs through Rocky Point Park.

At that time, the oceanfront green space was still being developed and Balzer didn’t like that the central performance stage was always empty. “I thought, ‘This isn’t good.’”

So to fill the physical and sound void, the Port Moody Rotarian suggested to city staff he program it. They signed up and, thus, the Summer Sunday Concerts series was born.

Balzer got backing from one of the city’s largest employers, Pacific Coast Terminals, as well as the TD Bank to pay for the bands for eight weeks; soon, other sponsors, such as The Tri-City News, followed.

R&B. “It’s the kind of music I like,” he said, with a shrug, “but then a lot of other people like it, too, so I’m not going to mess with a lineup that people like.”

Now in its ninth year, the Summer Sunday Concerts draw large crowds for the free two-hour shows — sometimes, as much as 1,000 people — to watch the groups on the PCT Performance Stage and to groove to the sounds.

The musicians like it, too, often remarking during their

sets about the laid-back environment and the lovely water and mountain vistas before them.

Still, the series is for a good cause. Since 2004, it has collected more than $18,000 for the Crossroads Hospice Society, a Tri-City-based charity that has its palliative care facility in Port Moody’s Inlet Centre; it receives 100% of the spectator donations.

This past Sunday, on opening day when Steelin’ in the Years played, Balzer said the series brought in a record amount for Crossroads. “It just keeps growing and growing,” said Balzer who, in 2013, was presented with the city’s first-ever Award for Exemplary Civic Service.

A few years back he heard about The Comic Strippers, a fictitious male stripper troupe formed by fellow TheatreSports company players Roman Danylo (CTV’s Comedy Inc.) and Chris Casillan (Canadian Content).

Wanting to expand their improv act, the pair made a few phone calls to their friends “and all the people who showed up for the photo shoot were automatically cast.”

Now, Teigen — along with TheatreSports regulars Ken Lawson, Pearce Visser and David Milchard (Convos With My 2-Year-Old) — is considered an original member of The Comic Strippers.

Michael Teigen caught the acting bug young.

The Coquitlam native was hooked when his family took him to Universal Studios at the age of 10 and, while at Sir Frederick Banting junior high school, he signed up for the theatre elective.

At 14, Teigen accompanied his older brother — then an SFU student — to a Vancouver TheatreSports League show.

The next week, he was in its drop-in improv workshop.

After graduating from Centennial secondary in 1991, Teigen tried SFU but dropped out to travel. He did some local dinner theatre but then sold his worldly possessions and traded in his car for a van — “a beat-up, rusty Who’s The Boss? van,” he remembered — and drove it across Canada to study acting in New York City.

For three-and-a-half years, Teigen did every job under the sun to pay the bills: a dancing slice of pizza, freelance demolition, babysitting.

He returned home in 1998, took more Vancouver TheatreSports classes and, soon after, caught his big break: He was named a main-

Danylo said the Strippers have gained a bunch of new fans this year, thanks to their recent cross-Canada tour.

“It’s been amazing,” he said.

“Everywhere we go, it’s the same thing: Really nobody knows what the show is until it starts and then they immediately get it within the first 10 seconds,” Danylo said.

While Saskatoon was their craziest stop — “They’re really in party mode,” he laughed — Coquitlam tends to be The Comic Strippers’ testing ground. “It’s our closest thing to a home turf,” Danylo said, “so we’re going to try a new genre of games.”

They’ll use the material for their next leg that starts Aug. 21 in Prince George and is followed by about 30 dates in the interior of B.C., Saskatchewan and around Ontario this fall.

A group of diehard softball fans in the outfield bleachers at Softball City’s main diamond have a little something extra to cheer about at this year’s Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship — the return of Jenn Salling.

The 28-year-old shortstop from Port Coquitlam — whose “clan” of family and friends, she says, are fixtures in the left-field bleachers each year — has returned to the Canadian national team this summer after spending the last three years playing in the National Pro Fastpitch League in the U.S. Though leaving the pro ranks was difficult — Salling spent three seasons with the USSSA Florida Pride in Kissimmee, Fla. before being traded to the Pennsylvania Rebellion — there were plenty of reasons to return to Canada, not the least of which was being able to play in front of her family again.

“I was just kind of ready to move on from the pro league and obviously we have two big events here in Canada — the Pan-Am Games this summer [in Toronto] and then the world championships here in Surrey next year — so being able to get a chance to play in those events was really important to me,” she said.

“But [playing pro] was a great experience — there is so much talent there, it’s a great league.”

The left-handed hitting Salling, known as something of a defensive whiz in the field, played for the national team from 2006-12, and is one of just four current team members with Olympic experience.

Second baseman Jen Yee, third baseman Megan Timpf and catcher Kaleigh Rafter are the others who played at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the last time softball was on the Olympic docket. Her experience is a welcome addition to the team, head coach Mark Smith said, though for her part, Salling said she eased back into a leadership role after her three-year absence.

“It was important for me to realize that I haven’t been here for three years, and there were a lot of new players who I didn’t know, and who didn’t know me,” she said.

“It’s not just about jumping in and saying, ‘OK, here, this is what we’re gonna do.’ That’s not my personality.

“But it’s really good to be back.”

Last year, when Salling de-

cided she wanted to return to the national-team fold, she called Smith to discuss the opportunity, and he, in turn, invited her back. Despite her history, however, she wasn’t gifted a roster spot. She went through the same training camps as everyone else, she said, and it wasn’t until last December that she knew she’d made the squad.

“It’s not just, ‘Oh, you’re back on the team because you’ve been here before.’ You have to work at it, and I had to play well to make him believe in me. You have to convince [the coaches] that you’re going to bust your butt every single day for this team.”

Smith — who said he was “certainly happy” to have fielded a phone call from Salling last year — said once she settled back into the program, the benefits on the field, and off, were noticeable.

“It’s been interesting to watch her, because we have a fairly quiet group here — that’s just the personalities of the girls. There’s some chatter, but there’s not a real dominant presence, and Jenn can be that when she wants to be. She can be loud out there, she can take charge,” he said.

PATRICIA MARGARET STEWART October 16, 1940 - July 2, 2015.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Patricia Margaret Stewart, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister who left us peacefully in her sleep July 2nd, 2015 at 3:54 p.m. Patricia was 74 years young and is survived by her Loving Husband, Harvey, married nearly 56 years, her three sons, Brek (Sher), Gregory and Kurt (Tara), six Grandchildren, Julia (Andrew), Ian (Kalee), David (Jayme), Kristopher (Katie), Brandon (Baillie) and Chantelle, as well as her two sister Sydney Rushoway (Gene) and Maaike Roy (Joe). Patricia was pre-deceased by her parents Reginald and Ethel Richards of 100 Mile House as well as her sister Thelma Chatwin (Ron) and her brother Reginald Richards. Born in Vancouver, B.C., raised in Hammond (Haney), where she lived her life, met her husband Harvey in 1957, married Harvey August 29, 1959 and raised her three sons. Patricia and Harvey entered the Real Estate business together in 1974 where Patricia found her true calling, she was very passionate about her career and loved helping people reach their dreams. Her most important passion was her husband and three boys. She was very involved in their activities, from the many sports teams to their involvement with The Order of DeMolay where Patricia sat as The Chapter Mom for a number of years. Patricia was also a long-time member of the local Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, another one of the passions she enjoyed. Patricia was an unforgettable Lady, both a force of will and opinion and a tender light of laughter and creativity. She had class, elegance, poise, impeccable taste, a fantastic sense of humour, wisdom and was always known for putting others first. She loved to dance with her Husband Harvey, from Jive to Ballroom dancing, she loved it all. She was a lover of the Arts, most notably her love of the Ballet where she was an Active Volunteer to the Board of Directors of what was known as the Pacific Ballet (predecessor to Ballet B.C.). Watching her Granddaughter, Julia, become a ballerina and seeing her perform was a dream come true to Patricia. She has left us for now but will always be remembered by, not only her Family, but by the thousands of people whose lives she touched over the many years.

Thursday, July 23rd, 2015 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm & Sunday, July 26th, 2015 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm Open House Location: Old Orchard Hall (646 Bentley Road, Port Moody BC, V3H 2W6) Project Background: The IOCO lands were purchased by BCG in January 2015, following which James KM Cheng Architects were appointed to lead the planning process. The site is approximately 250 acres in total, 150 acres in Anmore and 100 acres in Port Moody.

Project Process: The project is in the initial phase of research where the site context, history, and environment are being carefully studied. We are working closely with stakeholders and we are keen to hear what the community has to say before embarking on the design phase.

Open House Format: The open house will include a presentation of our research as well as a co-design workshop led by Stanley King.

Co-design brings members of the public together with artist-facilitators to dialogue and collectively produce images of what the surrounding community would like to see happen on the site. At the end of the open house process a summary of the public’s comments will be prepared and posted on www.iocolands.ca.

If you are unable to attend the open house, we invite you to leave comments online. We encourage those interested to visit the townsite prior to the public open house. Refreshments will be provided, and children and pets are welcome.
