May Days officially kicks off with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 pm at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex. This is one event you will want to bring the entire family out to enjoy.

Bob Lee May Day Chair Port Coquitlam May Day Organizing Committee As Chair of the Port Coquitlam May portcoquitlam.ca/maydays Day Organizing Committee, I have the honour and privilege of sharing my excitement and pride in our week-long festival.

This celebration began in 1923, and we will celebrate our 95th annual spring festival. We begin with our Opening Ceremony on Friday, May 4 featuring traditional May Pole dancing and the official introduction of the 2018 Port Coquitlam Royal Party. The festival will continue until Sunday, May 13th, will be our Mother’s Day picnic, a wonderful family event at Lions Park.

The festivities also include the Art Focus May Day Art Show on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 in the Outlet at Leigh Square.

On Friday, May 11 there is a guided Heritage walk at 6:00pm, followed with a concert by Choral

On Saturday, May 12 it is the May Day Party in the Square after the Rotary Parade. The day begins at 8am with a pancake breakfast in the Outlet at Leigh Square. At 10:30am a pre-parade favourite; the Vancouver Police Motorcycle squad will demonstrate their precision skills on the parade route and the official parade begins at 11:00 a.m. The Party in the Square will include many free family activities; talented local performers, the May Day Marketplace with over 30 craft and artisan vendors, Emergency Preparedness Fair, a Kids Zone, Heritage Trolley Tours, food vendors and a family friendly licensed area. Our featured performer at the party in the square will be the band, “The Matinee” starting at 1pm. Also, the third annual “Biz Alley” will feature Port Coquitlam businesses.

PoCo’s 95th Annual Spring Festival The festivities continue with Art Focus Artists’ Association’s annual Spring Show on May 4, the free heritage walk on May 11, the popular Rotary May Day Parade on May 12 wrapping up with the Mother’s Day Picnic in Lions Park on May 13.

Bring your lawn chair and join our community as we line the streets of downtown Port Coquitlam to watch the vibrant parade floats and marching bands. Make sure you stick around for the Party in the Square to enjoy entertainment, refreshments and our community spirit at its best.

This year we are celebrating a milestone - 95 years of May Days!

We kicked off our celebrations on February 4 with the 95 Day Countdown to May Day Contest.

Every few days, new trivia questions about May Days are placed on the City’s website. Whether you play to win a prize or not, it’s a great way to learn about the tradition of May Days and its rich history in Port Coquitlam.

Rotary May Day Parade Saturday May 12th The Rotary May Day Parade is always a highlight of May Days. Come enjoy marching bands, floats and a load of fun! Roads will be closed early to allow for the assembly of parade entries. Even though the official start time for the parade is 11am, we recommend you come early to enjoy Pre-Parade festivities. After the streets are cleared of pedestrians the VPD Motorcycle Drill Squad will impress the crowds with their precision drills with an amazing show that starts at 10:30am. Spectators are encouraged to leave cars at home or out of the downtown core and walk or ride to the parade before 10am.

The pre-parade Pancake Breakfast starts at 8am in the Outlet, at Leigh Square.
