Fall Golf As Summer winds down, there is still plenty to look forward to! Fall golf is a phenomenal time to play and work on some bad habits This article will go over a few tips to keep you in great playing shape and hopefully improve your game. Consider changing your golf ball. Is your golf ball right for you? You may think so, but not knowing could be costing you shots. Each ball has a different compression and unique core. These two attributes affect feel, spin, and ball flight. 105 mph or higher means you can generate a good amount of distance. So it would benefit your game a great deal if you could also gain some control with the help of a higher compression rating. On the other hand, if your swing speed is below 85 mph, then you have every reason to go for a lower compression rating. In this case, control is not so much of a priority as distance. As the days become colder, here is a little side note. High-compression golf balls feel like hitting a golf club against a rock on a chilly day. So for a cold day at the golf course, choose a lower compression rating. Lets talk about layering, Choosing the right clothes for your round becomes more and more important, especially if you want to extend your season as long as possible. Layering different types of materials ensures that you’ll be able to control your body temperature and gives you the ability to stay warm and dry if the weather turns during your round. A proper base layer will also be constructed of a moisture-wicking fabric—like merino wool or modern sports fabrics—so that if you do start to sweat, you’ll stay cool and dry. Lastly, Temperature changes do have the greatest affect on ball flight, but it might not be as much as you think. Going from 40 to 100 degrees will increase a 6-iron carry by 8 yards and a driver by 9 yards. So when chilly conditions reach the bluegrass, you may need to start reaching for an extra club.

DONT "LIE" TO ME One of the most important tweaks you can make to your golf clubs is checking and changing the loft and lie of your golf clubs. One key to remember, the loft on each iron and wedge doesn’t remain static during the life of the set, iron head material — softer forged carbon steels will move more with regular use — and course conditions (firm versus soft), you very well could benefit from getting the lofts checked on your clubs more regularly to ensure everything is where it should be. The loft gaps between each iron are put in place to ensure you can swing smooth and hit a specific number. Shift the loft a couple of degrees in either direction and you’re suddenly struggling to hit certain yardages. Let's shift our focus to the lie angle. The lie angle is usually determined by height, arm length, posture and impact location. Overtime, this angle can change, especially hitting on mats. You could be making a great swing but be penalized because your specs are off. Talk to one of the member of the Professional Staff to ensure your clubs are in "Tip-Top" shape!
