From The Rockpile Tip of the week By Mitch McMurtry Assistant Golf Professional
Improve Contact and Finish your Turn! What you will need: Alignment stick and Practice Balls Step 1: Place an alignment stick in the ground on the outside of your left heel (for right-handed players) Step 2: Take your full swing focusing on releasing your hands and keeping your chest/shoulders over the golf ball Step 3: Hold your finish with your belt buckle or waist touching the alignment stick This drill will help you release the golf club on your downswing. By finishing with our weight on our front foot, we can check that our weight does not go back causing inconsistent contact. You will start to feel your upper body and arms be more connected and help to release the club on our finish!
Junior Golf Update
The golf staff has been working hard to grow the junior program and bring exciting events for our young golfers! We are pleased to update everyone that we now have a total of 50 junior golfers between Little Linksters, Junior Golf Academy, and Op36!

USGA RULES OF THE GAME
History of The Rules of the Game This week we take a trip back in time. The USGA has compiled a fantastic resource for the public to learn how the rules of the game have changed over the years! Did you know that the Rules of the Game have been around since 1744!?! The Society of Golfers at Aberdeen code of 1783 introduced the principle of "the honor" off the tee and remaining quiet while others play. These concepts still remain in the Rules to this day. Additionally, this 1783 code introduced the idea of a limited time to search for a lost ball.

Through the Green DO YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX BALL MARKS? The average golfer will make 8 ball per round. This means that if 150 people play the course per day this equals 1,200 ball marks per day. Multiply that by 365 days in a year (438,000 ball marks) and your greens will begin to resemble swiss cheese. We can all do our part by fixing ball marks. This will keep the course enjoyable for everyone and consequentially cause more putts to drop!
