Do you fall back or "spin out" when you swing? When doing this drill, place a headcover, sand bottle, or object to the right of your back heel (for right handed players). In the golf swing, our body weight should shift forward to where we finish on our front side. If we fall away from the golf ball or spin out, we lose distance and consistency. This can also cause us to top the ball or slice the ball as the face of the club opens when my body weight goes back. The correct balance of a golf swing is a fundamental step to hitting solid golf shots. This drill may be beneficial to anyone on shorter chip shots all the way through our driver. We want to make sure our body weight is going forward and this drill will show us right away if we knock over the sand bottle. Please give this a try and you will be well on your way to hitting more solid golf shots!
