Talk to your veterinarian. See them once a year. Vets are trained to identify things that owners will overlook. Prevention alleviates a lot of the costs associated with veterinary bills.

Keep up with vaccinations. Regular vaccines are typically annual, some more and less frequent. These are for diseases that are common, but preventable.

Mind your parasite control. In this area of Texas we have a lot of rain for mosquitos. Heartworms are a big problem, however, completely preventable with medication.

Nutrition is key. Feeding an appropriate diet for the animal – typically large manufacturers have a lot of resources on proper nutrition. Avoid fad diets. Always talk to your vet about what you should be feeding your animal.

Wall of Honor

Godley High School

Godley Superintendent Rich Dear has an ongoing project honoring past and present veterans just inside the front doors of Godley High School.

Teaching the students to honor Veterans is a cause Dr. Dear is passionate about, he explains, “It’s a great message for our kids... it’s the first thing they see when they walk into school every day.” The Wall of Honor started with a Veteran who graduated from Godley, Class of 1905. The project has continued to grow. “I want our kids to know their history,” Dr. Dear continues, “let’s honor these men and women and let this be part of what we need to teach our kids… to be thankful and grateful because freedom isn’t free.”
