Timeless Treasures: One-of-a-Kind Jewelry That Speaks Through the Ages How has your journey as an artist evolved over the years, and what led you to focus on jewelry design? My journey as an artist began in interior design and then evolved into mixed-media sculpting. I’ve always loved working with my hands, creating pieces that balance form and function. About 15 years ago, I decided to focus on jewelry design, as I wanted to create art that people could wear and connect with on a personal level. Jewelry felt like a natural progression because it allowed me to blend artistry with intimacy, creating pieces that hold emotional significance and become part of my clients’ personal stories. How do you ensure your designs remain timeless while incorporating both antique and modern elements? To me, the key to creating timeless jewelry is balancing classic design elements with a touch of modern sensibility. The antique pieces I incorporate have an inherent sense of history and tradition, while my approach to design brings them into a contemporary context. By using high-quality materials and focusing on wearable art that transcends trends, I ensure that each piece feels both enduring and relevant, no matter the time period. What exciting projects or themes are you exploring in your latest collection? In my latest collection, I’ve been exploring the concept of “layers of time.” I’m incorporating more contemporary shapes and metals, like mixed silver and gold, alongside more antique elements. It’s an exciting blend of old and new that’s meant to reflect the passage of time. I’m also experimenting with new techniques in metalwork, creating designs that feel both bold and delicate, timeless yet fresh. You’ve recently received some incredible recognition – can you tell us about the awards you’ve won and what they mean to you? Yes, I was incredibly honored to be recognized at J.P. Morgan Private Bank’s Champions of Excellence ceremony, where I was named one of the Elite Women in the Industry. The recognition was humbling, and it was truly inspiring to be celebrated alongside three other remarkable women who have made significant contributions to their fields. It’s always encouraging to be acknowledged for the hard work and passion that goes into creating something unique. I was also honored to receive the 2024 ‘Best of the Valley Award’ from AZ Foothills Magazine in the Best Local Jewelry Designer category!
