Cullman & Kravis is known for providing the highest quality of design excellence and personal service since 1984. The firm collaborates closely with clients to realise their aesthetic ideas and practical needs while adhering to their established budgets. While elegance and practicality are C&K’s first objective, their utmost pride comes from the fact that every home they design reflects the personality of the owner, making no two projects the same. We had the pleasure to speak with Ellie Cullman and the C&K team so stay tuned and discover all the little details that make Cullman & Kravis a worldwide reference when it comes to interior design.
When asked about her journey in the design world, Ellie Cullman was prompt: “I have always had a passion for art and design. Shortly after I got married, I spent two years living in Japan. In Japan, in addition to learning the complex and layered language, I studied flower arranging. This ancient tradition is completely analogous to interior design, but a microcosm of the choices we make every day in our work regarding color, proportion and harmony. I have often said that spending two hours arranging seven chrysanthemums honed my aesthetic sensibilities”. Then we moved on to how the firm started, something we were very curious. “My friend and co-founder, the late Hedi Kravis, and I used to love going to our friend’s homes and doing a little redecorating! When a friend of ours said he would like to hire us to decorate his apartment, we realised that it was something we could actually do”, she told us. “In the forty years since the founding of Cullman & Kravis, collaboration and the sharing of ideas has always been at the heart of our culture. No project is a one-man (or in our all-female firm a one-woman) job. Every team member values the opinions of their peers and none of us could imagine
ELEGANCE AND PRACTICALITYtrying to design a home with only our own ideas and opinions”, Ellie Cullman replied regarding her firm’s culture.
“At Cullman & Kravis, we try to avoid having a signature look in our designs because every project is completely unique and reflects our clients’ vision. However, we always strive to create homes that will stand the test of time. Much of our work is rooted in classic principles of design while embracing modernism. We love the alchemy that happens when old meets new”, sums up what is Cullman & Kravis’ design signature today. Regarding the way the firm approaches a project, Ellie Cullman told us that “the most successful projects come when the clients bring the team together from day one – architect, designer, builder, landscape architect. When we are all on the same page from the start, we are able to work together and create a cohesive home from the inside out. When we are able to do this the first thing to consider is the floor plan and flow of the home. Once that is solidified we consider all of the finishes – from floor to wall to ceiling (never forget the ceiling!). Choosing lighting, rugs and fabrics usually comes next, and in some cases we need to base schemes around a client’s existing collection of furnishings and art”, she told us.
“The final layer – pillows, art and accessories are just as important as the rest to create a fully livable and beautiful home!”.
“Timeless, elegant and dynamic” were the words chosen by Ellie Cullman to describe Cullman & Kravis’ designs. “As we mentioned, our work is rooted in classic design and therefore doesn’t follow of-the-moment trends. We strive to create rooms that will never go out of style. We also design spaces that, while they are comfortable, are still tasteful and refined. Lastly, mixing antiques with contemporary lighting and art creates an exciting tension that brings a room to life”.
She was a bit hesitant when we asked about her favorite project to date:
“That is like asking someone to choose their favorite child! We have been extremely lucky in the 4-decade history of Cullman & Kravis to work on some truly incredible residences, and with some extraordinary clients. In some cases, we have been asked to design homes for multiple generations of a family”.
The main message of Cullman & Kravis’ creations is that “as important as it is to look to the future of design, it is equally as important to remember the past and the tried and true principles of design”, Ellie Cullman told us.
“Our work is always founded in classic traditions, whether in scale, spatial

planning, color palette, etc., but we are constantly searching for the newest designs in lighting, furnishings and art”.
When asked about the future, she told us that “next steps are to transition our company to the incredibly talented next generation. I feel we have a specific and effective way of designing homes that reflect our clients aesthetics while adhering to the lessons we have learned in the 38 years of our practice”.
To conclude, we asked Ellie Cullman about advice for young professionals. “Seek out inspiration whether in your own city or travels abroad. There is so much to be learned and seen by exploring what surrounds you. Seeing the history and craftsmanship of the past can greatly inform your design style. While the internet is undeniably a valuable resource for us, it is so important to get out of the office – not only to see things in the ‘real’ to get an idea of scale and quality, but for inspiration. And always carry a tape measure!”.
Attila G. Kolep has been working as an interior designer in the luxury segment for over 20 years. Interior design is not just his passion, it’s his calling. He designs residential and office concepts, restaurants, bars, hotels and yachts.
He loves his job and the more extravagant the customer’s request, the more he is in his element, because Attila Kolep loves a challenge! Together with his team, they are happy if they can help you with your dream interior and beyond.
To start, Attila Kolep told us that “freedom and almost unlimited creativity” is what he loves the most about his job. On the other hand, “the most challenging part of my career is a private yacht project I’m currently working on. Both architectonically and technically, and from regulations/climatic aspects, it’s very challenging”, he told us.
However, the designer told us that there are dreams he still lingers on to. “I would like to work even more internationally, large projects like hotels, e.g., a luxury hotel in a fancy place, further special projects, like building a yacht, styling a bar or a restaurant”.
“When you create a comfortable home, a luxurious residence for a client, you automatically build a profound and friendly relationship with him. First and foremost is the recommendation after personal experience; social media is also essential nowadays. We do not only design, but we also carry lifestyle. Our work is diverse, not only planning, designing, and selling furniture, accessories, and an upbeat lifestyle. General construction with numerous trades, through this we also generate new customers”,
the designer told us on his relationship with his audience and his way of promoting his work.
He is currently working on two different apartments, two different doctor offices and an hairdresser’s studio for “the most hip hairdresser in Berlin”. “We are starting soon with 2 projects in the hotel sector (a luxurious bar with over 100 seats and the spa area of a hotel)”, he concluded.
Off course we had to ask Attila Kolep about the most significant design trend for him in the last few years. “There has been a lot of change since the pandemic. People have a much stronger focus on home, cozy and generous furnishings. Sustainable furniture and accessories are experiencing a boom. Wood and other natural materials are again very much in demand. Spacious furnishings, with serene shapes and beautiful, valuable finishes, are trendy”, he told us.
“I am open to what the future will bring. Computer technology will play a very crucial role in the future. Look curious about what’s coming up next, looking forward to new challenges, technologies, and possibilities. We will master the future with a positive attitude and commitment”, he told us about what’s next in the interior design world.
“WHEN YOU CREATE A COMFORTABLE HOME, A LUXURIOUS RESIDENCE FOR A CLIENT, YOU AUTOMATICALLY BUILD A PROFOUND AND FRIENDLY RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.”
WILL TAKE YOU TO YOUR DREAM INTERIOR AND BEYOND
Masquespacio is an award-winning creative consultancy created in 2010 by Ana Milena Hernández Palacios and Christophe Penasse. Combining the 2 disciplines of their founders, interior design and marketing, the Spanish design agency creates custom-made branding and interior projects through a unique approach that results in fresh and innovative concepts. Our team had a special conversation with the design duo and asked them all about their deepest design secrets!
Taking the leap into the world of interior decorating can be a scary thing, especially the first time around. Just like a budding relationship, the start of a decorating project can bring a symphony of emotions: the heart-swelling when imagining the end result, the butterflies when spotting your dream sofa, the nerves when swiping the credit card, the doubts when awaiting delivery… Is it a good fit? Will it last? Will I love it? Fortunately, there are interior designers who can guide you through every step of the way with their expertise. Masquespacio is the name that is always coming up when trying to find the most suitable designer to transform our design dreams into reality.
Ana Milena Hernández is the founder and creative director of Masquespacio. She is passionate about design and everything that has to do with it. For her, design is much more than employment - it’s a lifestyle. A lifestyle that makes her take care of every detail in her projects, looking for the optimal solution for every client, without losing the focus on distinguishing their brands from their competitors with fresh and innovative concepts.
Christophe Penasse is the co-founder and marketing director of
Masquespacio. As a marketeer he loves creating new concepts for his clients, giving greater importance to the design and identity of each brand. He likes everything to do with marketing, besides being passionate about design. At present, in addition to his job in Masquespacio, he is working as a chief editor for Blog del Diseño, a media specialised in design founded by Masquespacio.
Tell us about the beginning of your journey in the design world?
How did the love for products and interiors emerge?
“In 2010 when Ana had recently finished her studies in interior design we found ourselves in a very tough financial crisis in Spain with few job opportunities. The few available jobs were looking for people who wanted to develop the technical part of the projects more, while Ana was more interested in developing her creativity. Therefore we decided together to found our own studio”, told us Christophe Penasse. “At first, we were focused on decorating houses, but we realised very quickly that we wanted to design custom projects, so we quickly refocused on the commercial sector. We started by building a store and office to evolve into restaurant design. As an intermediate step, we also began to offer to brand and consulting services for furniture and lighting brands. We began to develop the strategies and artistic direction of various brands. At this time we were already making custom products in our interior design projects, but we had not yet designed a product for a brand. We really wanted to design some pieces and after thinking about it a lot, we jumped into the pool there in 2015. The reception was a success and we were hooked on developing more collections”.
“We create emotional projects, full of details and textures that surprise users, whether in an interior design project or in a product design. We also speak many times of our universe in which we mix colors, materials, and textures in search of innovative proposals for each client”, told us Christophe about the creative process. “Our creative process always begins with knowing the client and their needs. From there I start to develop a concept. The concept can vary a lot and depends a lot on the type of project we are working on. Thus, creating a concept for a hamburger chain in which a commercial image is sought is not the same as a boutique hotel in which a much more unique project can be developed. Once the concept is determined, I begin to create
“WE CREATE EMOTIONAL PROJECTS, FULL OF DETAILS AND TEXTURES THAT SURPRISE USERS, WHETHER IN AN INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT OR IN A PRODUCT DESIGN.”
the project. I do everything in 3D and I go through many sources of inspiration: fashion, cinema, design, and art, among others. My clients are always part of my inspiration because I design for them. Also travelling is another great source that I use… In short, all the details that surround me can end up being part of a design. Regarding the 3D processes, I do tests and tests and tests until I reach a result that I can say I am satisfied with, without looking at the clock and the hours invested. The main thing is the final result!”, he concluded.
Masquespacio’s design experts claim that they are big fans of contemporary style with an eclectic touch, and, in fact, it can characterize their unique signature style filled with bold colors and elements. The eclectic design style evokes a whole host of superlatives that belie its wily nature. It’s a riotous juxtaposition of color and texture, old and new, and high and low—a study in contrasts that allows one’s unique personality to shine and the freedom to think outside the box. “As an evolution of our career, we are more and more focused on getting away from the design
trends. Although when you work on a more commercial project we think it is important that you know the design trends and try to reuse them as you will need to attract a mass market. When you are working for a chef or a boutique hotel on the other hand you can get away from the design trends. The market is, although, evolving and the masses are more and more informed by the design trends, for which they are also much more open to totally new and innovative concepts”.
When we asked them about Essential Home, the Portuguese midcentury furniture brand that created the Hollywood Glamour collection with Masquespacio, the answer came straight away.
“For us, it’s a mix of several things. First of all, of course, a midcentury inspired design. Secondly, a high-quality production that gets away from the timeless neutral creations we have seen a lot through Scandinavian brands, bringing an aesthetic that seeks more to present emotions and unique forms”. “Although it is always more difficult to create a connection through the virtual world, we directly created a great connection with the
Essential Home team. I think it was clear from the beginning that both teams as a partner wanted to do the same: create unique collections to surprise their customers”.
To finalize, we asked Masquespacio how would they describe the products by Essential Home. “We would say they are full of emotions, organic forms, and contrast of materials in the typical style of our designs. Of course, there will also be a strong touch of color and let’s say some new type of textures”.
The final result of the partnership between Masquespacio and midcentury brand Essential Home is a unique collection, just like in the movies, called Hollywood Glamour. A unique mid-century modern collection inspired by three of the most popular movie styles in that era, from passionate love affairs to fun burlesque environments. The idea is to connect the past and the present by reviving the bright side of old Hollywood glam.
Wafi Tagleb is a Syrian architect, co-founder of WT Arch+Design. He graduated in 2006 and began working in interior design and consulting, after going to Dubai in the end of 2011. He kept working for interior design and consulting firms there until 2020. Although he always had a desire and an eye for entrepreneurship, Wafi Tagleb finally achieved his goal of launching his own business in 2020 and had the good fortune to work on interesting residential projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
“I consider a design as my client’s dream, my client’s needs, and my goal is to transform this dream and make it real in a creative way.”
As we know, interior design is the art and technique of improving a building’s interior by creating a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing ambiance. WT Arch+Design has consistently surpassed the client’s expectations and delivered high-quality designs, on time and within budget, by considering the client’s commercial and residential goals as a top priority.
Wafi Tagleb believes that design inspiration can take many different forms, in addition to platforms on social media, such as Instagram and Pinterest, he feels like sometimes the best way to get artistically motivated is to travel or simply leave the office and go for a walk. “Travelling exposes you to various cultures, people, and experiences, by immersing yourself in an area that’s far from home, you get out of your comfort zone and open your eyes to new possibilities in your creative projects”, he said. He adores the “Back to Nature” trend. He stated that for him and many other designers, the three components of a dream home are nature, emotion, and timeless design. Because it keeps the
place alive and full of memories, he likes to incorporate natural components like marble and wood into his designs.
For Wafi Tagleb, one of the hardest responsibilities is presenting the newest trends while retaining a sense of timeless style. “When a room becomes old after a few months, you don’t want your client to feel upset.” For him, one of the most difficult skills to acquire is remaining current with trends and knowing how to integrate them in a tasteful manner.
“Regarding Maison Valentina, I am in love with the Newton Bathtub. For me, it is an outstanding sculptural design inspiration, with the high-gloss black and gold lacquered spheres, it really enhances the bathroom and is the focal point of the entire bathroom design.”
For Wafi Tagleb, learning a little bit about each of the styles and how they differ from one another is a wonderful place to start when working on an interior design project. Depending on the preferences of his clients, he employs modern, contemporary, minimalist, new classic, or even classic design styles in his projects, but he is always trying to steer them toward a better design version.
Wafi Tagleb thinks that our culture has an impact on how we perceive the world. A range of perspectives and extensive personal and professional experience on a global scale can provide fresh ideas that encourage you to perceive the world in new ways. He believes that being in Dubai is like a little version of the cultures of the entire world, and his consumers will likely come from many countries and have a variety of opinions and viewpoints, which delights him. His favorite design was the first villa in Dubai in 2020. “I still remember it as we did a great job regarding the design and actual work. I always link my success to my client’s feedback and satisfaction”.
“Designers should have more focus on lighting and furniture details while creating new ideas, and they should constantly
“I CONSIDER A DESIGN AS MY CLIENT’S DREAM, MY CLIENT’S NEEDS, AND MY GOAL IS TO TRANSFORM THIS DREAM AND MAKE IT REAL IN A CREATIVE WAY.”
consider themselves to be the client or the end user” - this is Wafi Tagleb‘s finest recommendation for new designers. “Believe me, if you put all of your beautiful thoughts in the design, the client will never reject it or dislike it. Defend on your ideas, but remember always that the key is to understand the client’s needs first, the more in-depth knowledge you have, the more it will help you to create amazing designs.”
“I love the BRABBU Wales Sofa, or as you call it “Land of Castles”, I love how the curved velvet mixed with the golden polished nailhead trim can make my reception corners more elegant and classy”, Wafi Tagleb told us.
Borella Art Design is an amazing and unique design company that has a creative team creating comfortable, elegant and dazzling projects that are seriously inspiring. The studio’s designs range from residential designs to wellness spas and amazing yachts. They aim to generate experiences that are both lasting and glamorous!
Home’Society believes that talking, discussing, and exploring ideas together is essential to the design process. The goal is to create a platform with a new vision of macro and micro trends within the industry, generating added value for the design lover community. These design talks include interviews with interior designers, architects, and showrooms to discover and discuss trending and the creative process.
Cristine Borella-Snozzi established Borella Art Design and quickly got involved in the hospitality field, in order to give meaning to interior design. The aim was to create spaces that are not mere environments but rather ones that invite you to relax and enjoy the time you spend on them. The company, eventually, sought to design restaurants and even conference halls, making room for new challenges and ways of evolving. However, the company manages to do all type of projects.
Working abroad has helped the designers get new influences and inspirations. Being in touch with different and new cultures provides a different touch to interior design. Not only does it call
for adaptability of the company as it also adds a new dynamism amongst the team members. They can add elements from different cultures to a design as well as easily adapting any project to the present environment, resulting in a magnificent composition.
The designer tells us that travelling is seen as a blessing, because it allows the company to have a much more flexible response to client’s needs. Having projects all over Europe obliges the company to adapt to different environments, cultures and weather to result in the much-desired dreams.
White and neutral tones are prominent in the company’s designs. Cristine Borella-Snozzi claims that these tones create elegance and something quite exclusive. It gives this idea of peace and softness when we currently live in a busy and stressful society.
However, clients’ tastes tend to change with time and this demands new approaches that the company is planning to answer.
Mixes of color is something Cristine Borella-Snozzi is enamored by. It is a way of bringing harmony to a space, and even fluidity.
The designer informed us that she admires BRABBU and Rug’Society, due to the exquisite and complementary products it possesses. They are very easy to combine and perfect to add to their different projects.
The interview ended with advice to anyone who aims to become a designer. Cristine says it is important to use both eyes so you can understand how you feel when you look at something, and why you like it. Take some inspiration and ideas and merge it into your personality.
“MIXES OF COLOR IS SOMETHING CRISTINE BORELLA-SNOZZI IS ENAMORED BY. IT IS A WAY OF BRINGING HARMONY TO A SPACE, AND EVEN FLUIDITY.”
MEMAR Architecture is a high-end company that provides services from architecture and interior design to landscaping and engineering practices. Based in Dubai, UAE, MEMAR delivers services worldwide, always with the motto: Design Your Satisfaction.
MEMAR Architecture was founded in 2008 in Dubai, the chosen home country for the company since it is one of the countries that keep evolving and growing in architecture and interior design. Thus, they wanted to be part of this incredible growth and challenge themselves to add a unique mark to the plan.
Memar’s vision is: “Our unparalleled respectful, knowledgeable, and honest service is one of the prime reasons our clients choose to do business with us continually. We would like to stress at this point that we are committed to bringing your vision to life and to eliciting the enthusiastic dynamic response.”
In the projects, the design is affected by the client’s personality, and, on the other hand, the design affects the client’s physical and mental health positively by MEMAR’s need to ensure a safe, healthy, and happy life for the clients. Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. Nature and art are big inspirations for MEMAR. Everything from natural colors, rainbows, flowers, beehives, wasp nests and many more, are elements that they consider when creating new expressions from them and translating them into magnificent designs. Also, trips to different countries, and learning cultures, are also extremely important to the inspirational process. In MEMAR’s projects, it can be spotted different design styles, such as classical style, new classic, minimal, modern, traditional, and contemporary. Since the company works with different people,
from different cultures and backgrounds, they have to make a design style that fits the lifestyle and translates their personality in a functional, healthy, and aesthetic way. However, there are some guidelines they try to always fit into their projects, such as a neutral color scheme for a serene and relaxing feel, transparent walls between living areas and landscapes, hidden shelves and cabinets for a neat area, and healthy and environmentfriendly materials, and more.
“Each project has a unique story that our team lives with for days, weeks, and months. Each story impacts the MEMAR design team and becomes a part of them. Moreover, since we learn all of our client’s concerns, fears, and problems and solve them through our services, that leaves a beautiful memory in our team and inspires them”. And what about inspiring the future generation of interior design lovers?
MEMAR’s team has a clear vision. “You should never expect the best results overnight. Work needs consistency, hard work, passion, and time. Have your own touch in design, be yourself, and think differently. Consider some playfulness and originality to create a functional, structural and aesthetic design. Last but not least, never stop learning, no matter how far you have gone; always learn new skills, strategies, technologies, styles, and tips. And remember, if your dreams don’t scare you, then they are not big enough”.
“PERFECTION IS ACHIEVED, NOT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO ADD, BUT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO TAKE AWAY.”
Based in Cairo, this young designer is quickly rising in the world of interior design with unique and stunning interiors. She received recognition in 2019 for her Sea Wonders Eco-lodge project at the IDA International Design Awards ceremony held at Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. She is a rising star that we had the honor to talk to. Keep reading to learn more about Merna Sami.
In this designer interview, Merna Sami claims that her love of design began long ago when she was a young girl. She has always enjoyed using color and admiring vibrant artwork. She added that she enjoyed following her uncle around to see what he was up to in the world of design. She had a strong preference for the department of interior and furniture design when she first started college. “In my childhood, I loved looking at pictures filled with colors, playing with colors and choosing them. I loved to look at paintings drawn in distinctive colors”.
She recently created this stunning living room with the AGATHA RUG. We were honored to have her use Rug’Society products in her designs. The charming AGATHA RUG, with its abstract pattern, adds some fluidity to this warm and sophisticated contemporary living room. Merna Sami specifically created this space with AGATHA in mind.
Since graduating, Merna Sami has had the dream of starting her own business, but she feels she must first gain more experience before moving forward with this. She has worked for numerous interior design firms in order to achieve this, where she gained teamwork skills, learned how to develop ideas, and more. She took internships at places like Engco and Elmasria, to name a couple. She claimed that over the course of this time, her drive and desire to create more independent projects only grew. We hope to see this dream come true in the near future. “I love how the
designers and architects think about creating a space in a wonderful and comfortable way for the user”, she says.
One of her greatest challenges to date has been a client who demanded something novel that he had never seen before. It is not always easy to come up with something completely innovative. He liked all of her design suggestions, but he wasn’t persuaded, so Merna Sami had to create a mood board with a variety of suggestions that matched his preferences. She even had to come up with a unique way to design furniture for this project in order to satisfy the client’s request for something he had never seen imitated before. She admitted that it was one of the hardest times she had to design a space.
Looking ahead, Merna Sami is currently designing the ground floor of a villa in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which will include a master bedroom with an outdoor garden and sitting area, a dining room for guests, a family hall, and a living room for guests. We are incredibly eager to follow this new project’s progress.
Merna Sami appreciates teamwork because it fosters creativity. The sharing of ideas and opinions increases the chances of creating the best design. When the team members are exceptional, imaginative, and have vast design knowledge, she particularly enjoys working in teams. All of the team members’ ideas are expanded as a result.
Her graduation Sea Wonders Eco-lodge project is what Merna Sami is most proud of. In the vicinity of the Valley of the Whales in the Egyptian governorate of Faiyum, there was an eco-lodge with a museum displaying prehistoric whale fossils.
The Valley of the Whales’ numerous fossilised remains of some of the earliest whale species led to its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2005. The Eco-lodge in this heritage site is the subject of this project. She was also recognized for this project at the 2019 Los Angeles International Design Awards Ceremony.
Although there are no set styles in Merna Sami’s projects, she tends to favor more opulent and contemporary interior designs. Although some styles, like classic, neoclassical, and contemporary, are demanded by clients, the majority of the demanded designs are in the luxury modern style. In terms of trends, she searches for what’s new in terms of colors, materials, and wall claddings, following the most recent designs in accordance with the needs and preferences of the client.
She developed an understanding of the client’s preferences for the interior
“IN MY CHILDHOOD, I LOVED LOOKING AT PICTURES FILLED WITH COLORS, PLAYING WITH COLORS AND CHOOSING THEM. I LOVED TO LOOK AT PAINTINGS DRAWN IN DISTINCTIVE COLORS.”
design through discussion. She primarily works on the client’s concept, adding her own flair so that it reflects their preferences and ideas while having a fresh personality. When given the option to prioritise either functionality or beauty, the interior designer chooses functionality. She takes care of the fundamental requirements and practical dimensions to ensure that the client is both functionally and aesthetically satisfied with the design. She won’t consider the decorative additions, colors, engravings, or accessories until afterward. She explained to us that she adds aesthetic features to the scene, such as plants, antiques, artefacts, statues, and accessories that enhance its beauty, to ensure that the scene is rendered in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
Rugs are a crucial component of Merna Sami designs, especially in rooms with lots of space. It sets apart the furniture positioned above it with its distinctive colors and varied patterns. It is crucial for the majority of her designs to choose the right rug for each space because there are so many different shapes, patterns, and textures. This gives the room a unique appearance and a warm, cozy feeling.
“Rugs are an essential element in my designs. There are many different shapes, patterns and textures, and choosing the right rug for each space gives the place a distinctive look with a warm and comfortable feeling”, she concludes.

THE FAMOUS STREETS OF PARIS ARE A BIG PART OF THE CITY’S CHARM. MAGIC IS EVERYWHERE, FROM THE COBBLED LANES TO THE GRAND BOULEVARDS. HISTORIC SETTINGS, FILMING LOCATIONS AND INSTAGRAMMABLE SPOTS - YOU WILL FIND A BIT OF EVERYTHING.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE, THERE ARE A THOUSAND THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN PARIS. THE EIFFEL TOWER, THE LOUVRE OR NOTRE-DAME ARE PROBABLY ALREADY ON YOUR ITINERARY BUT THE CITY OF LIGHTS IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. PARIS IS SYNONYMOUS WITH LUXURY RESTAURANTS, CHIC FASHION, INSPIRING MUSEUMS, BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE AND GLAMOROUS INTERIOR DESIGN. ELEGANT, HISTORIC AND MEMORABLE, IT’S THE LITTLE DETAILS THAT MAKE THIS CITY WHAT IT IS AND NOW IT’S UP TO YOU TO AWAKEN YOUR SENSES AND SHAKE UP YOUR FEELINGS. THE JOURNEY IS ABOUT TO BEGIN.
The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is, without a doubt, Paris’s most well-known avenue. Arc de Triomphe is the Champs-Élysées’ main attraction, but there is much more to do on this boulevard. For instance, you may go shopping
and experience some macarons from Ladurée, which also happens to be an amazing place to try the best afternoon tea in Paris.
THE CITY OF LIGHTS HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONNECTED TO SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CINEMA MOVEMENTS IN HISTORY. DUE TO ITS UNIQUE ROMANTIC ATMOSPHERE, IT’S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DETACH THE CITY FROM THE DIRECTORS, THE ACTING OR THE STORIES. INCREDIBLY ALLURING AND INFINITELY POETIC.
Rue Crémieux is reminiscent of London’s Portobello Road with its pastel-colored buildings. One of the most popular streets in Paris for photography, it appears absolutely instagrammable when combined with the cobblestone streets and lovely flower boxes. Although the charming terraced cottages bordering this street were initially constructed in the middle of the 19th century as housing for employees, they today draw tourists on holiday in Paris.
Rue de l’Abreuvoir is like a journey into a Paris of the past. La Maison Rose, a prominent pink structure that is currently used as a restaurant offering classic French cuisine, is another well-known landmark in this charming neighborhood. Records specifically show that Maurice Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon, Albert Camus, and Pablo Picasso all spent time in La Maison Rose. Also, it appeared in the Netflix series Emily in Paris.
Since its 2001 debut, Amélie (or Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet has become widely recognized as the movie that best captures an upbeat, eccentric, and “full of life” attitude. Amélie, a young Parisian who lives and works in Montmartre, epitomizes this mentality as she embarks on a journey to make other people happy while developing a romantic relationship with a young man. A true “Paris feeling” all around.
Avenue Rapp has some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower, first and foremost. Also, it is frequently frequented for its architecture as well. One of the best specimens of Art Nouveau architecture in the entire city, according to many people. This style served as a departure from the 19th century’s eclectic, and frequently dull neo-Gothic and neoRenaissance style.
The Moulin Rouge is the Boulevard de Clichy’s most recognizable monument today, despite the fact that there are many amazing things to see there. But just in case you don’t know, the Moulin Rouge is a cabaret that is housed in a red windmill-shaped edifice. Many of Paris’ most wellknown artists, including Edgar Degas, William Didier-Pouget, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, have resided on this street over the years.
The Dreamers, which is set in the social uprising-era Paris of 1968, chronicles the unorthodox way of life of two young Parisians and an American exchange student. This film pays homage to Nouvelle vague filmmaking and is rife with sexual discovery, cultural allusions, and the influence of freedom on the modern world. We highlight the cinematography, the acting and the soundtrack (from Édith Piaf to Jimi Hendrix).
Paris, the city of love, serves as the backdrop for Before Sunset. You do, however, recognize that Celine and Jesse are no longer the same they were in Before Sunrise. Their aspirations have changed, their life goals have changed, and they no longer hold the system or the government particularly accountable. Instead, they were preoccupied with their own search for meaning and purpose. A day in Paris will help them rediscover lost paths.
Ratatouille is part of what is most certainly going to be regarded as the heyday of Pixar films, and perhaps of contemporary animation in general. The main characters are Linguini, a young kitchen worker, and Remy, a rat who dreams of becoming a chef. It delivers a fun and exciting story while also building an incisive commentary on life and its problems, in this case symbolized by Remy’s struggle to become what a rat can barely be, a prosperous chef.
Midnight In Paris is a reflection on nostalgia and employs time travel as a magical plot device to depict the city during one of its most vibrant eras, when great personalities frequented its bars and streets. This movie is one of the most admiringly cinematographic love letters to Paris through the eyes of a classic American tourist that is about to discover the magic of the city.
PARIS IS A LUXURY SHOPPING PARADISE. SOME ARE CONCEPTUAL, SOME ARE TRADITIONAL, BUT ALL OF THEM PROVIDE AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE. DIOR, CHANEL, HERMÈS AND LOUIS VUITTON WERE ALL FOUNDED IN PARIS AND THAT SHOWS US WHY PARIS IS THE CAPITAL OF HAUTE COUTURE BOUTIQUES.

The architect of this project is the one-and-only Peter Marino.
In Paris, there are three Chanel boutiques - the ready-to-wear Avenue Montaigne store, Galleries Lafayette, and Rue Cambon. Speaking about the latter and also the original, it was there that Coco Chanel started what is known today as one of the most recognizable fashion brands in the whole world. After that, the story is famous and with it came the little black dress, the No. 5 cologne, and the 2.55 quilted bag.
High-end leather products, legendary steamer trunks, recognizable monogram handbags, exquisite watches and jewelry, and cutting-edge fashion are all associated with Louis Vuitton. The Avenue des ChampsÉlysées is the area to go shopping if you want to see the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Paris. This gorgeous setting is well-known for its appearance in a Sex and the City scene.
Located in Avenue Georges V, this is a very remarkable Bvlgari store from the physical structure and surroundings to the roomy, airy interior and the wide selection of Bvlgari goods. art pieces from prehistory to the 21st century. It is a soul-stirring experience from its glass-and-steel pyramid at the entrance all the way to the Mona Lisa or Venus de Milo.
The Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris is committed to modern and contemporary art in all of its forms, including photography, sculptures, installations, paintings, and video. There are also often excellent temporary exhibitions. It belongs to the Paris Museum Network and it’s surely a good place to start your art trip.
Giving space to the impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces on the top floor, it has Art Nouveau galleries downstairs. Blending different styles is what makes the Musée d’Orsay such a jaw-dropping experience. Consider buying tickets ahead to avoid the endless queues.
Galerie Patrick Seguin‘s main goal is to promote and publicize some of the best French artists that combine product and architecture. The gallery was designed by Jean Nouvel, who won the Pritzker Prize in 2008, and hosts a lot of works by Le Corbusier, Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand, among others. Truly unique.
Open since 1977, the Centre Georges Pompidou is a hymn to modern and contemporary art. Besides being one of the city’s most distinctive buildings, it’s also home for inspiring works by Picasso or Matisse. There, you can also find a gallery for children, an art bookshop, a cinema and a restaurant.

First and foremost, Gommosa is a modular sofa by Caffe Latte, marked by rounded curves, and its iconic marshmallow form, ideal for long afternoons of rest. Around it, different pieces appear, but all following the same impetus of functionality, such as Philip Center Table, in its longer and more dynamic version, or Zelda Single Sofa, both from Essential Home, bringing with them the mid-century spirit. The famous Macchiato Stool, by
Caffe Latte, but also Sequoia Side Table, from Brabbu, or White Garden Rug, by Rug’Society, invoke nature inspired shades, being the main supports of these great highlights. At last, Horus Suspension Lamp, from Brabbu, is the right complement of luxury and richness, totally covered in golden and dark tones.
With a strong appeal to nature, not only by the decorative elements it presents, but also by the floor and wall details, with wooden panelling materials, this is a calm and soft living room, quite seasoned, designed by Mojgan Sadeghi, for Caffe Latte and Covet House.
LUXXU defied expectations by bringing comfort and opulence to this property, transforming its decor into the epitome of the Marbella ethos. By applying a minimalistic contemporary interior design style throughout the space, we take you on a more in-depth tour of this magnificent villa.
High ceilings and clean lines are two of Marbella’s most recognizable features, but LUXXU took it a step further by combining raw and fine materials and featuring marble floors and walls to create the perfect contrast with the simple white walls and wooden slabs. Not only that, but placing the Algerone Console means allowing its geometric features to add a distinct strength and its marble top to blend seamlessly with the fragmented form of the Algerone Mirror.
When you walk into a living room and immediately feel calmer and more relaxed, you know it has done its job. The neutral and
soft color palette was chosen to provide the calm we all need when we get home. The Thomson Sofa, with its soft leather and velvet that provides a luxurious and sensual touch, is available to sit on alongside the Galea Armchairs, which, with their elegant silhouettes, bring back an ancient inspiration that fits well within Marbella’s history. The Vertigo Side Table, located between the two armchairs, provides a place for any drink or important personal belongings while maintaining a sublime and cohesive style. The Thor Center Table, smack dab in the middle of the upholstery masterpieces, was customized to highlight the best of its smoked mirror top while remaining the focal point. Any dining establishment takes pride in providing a large area for family and friends to enjoy. This was kept in mind at all times by LUXXU, which provided a great view of the outdoor space while furnishing it with the most extraordinary pieces. Beginning with
the Vertigo XL Dining Table, an ultimate design piece made of perfectly crafted marble that exudes luxury while allowing the premium selection of wood, brass, and velvet of the Galea II Dining Chair to shine through. Above this set can be seen three Liberty Slim Suspensions with a complexity and richness that blend in perfect harmony and illuminate this dining room.
This spacious master bedroom is an idyllic and captivating place to start the day. The neutrals are retained, but dark wood is emphasized to create even more contrast than usual to ensure the atmosphere is relaxing and acts as a soothing mechanism.
LUXXU also carefully selected the ideal pieces to help with this, most notably the Algerone II Bed, a customized version of our Algerone Bed with a more minimalist and contemporary approach.
The Algerone Set Side Table, on the other hand, emphasizes both elegant and modern styles.
LUXXU had to match its efforts to create the best environment for the siblings who will share this bundle of luxury after giving so much thought to the master bedroom. The Algerone Bed was immediately customized to demonstrate how this piece can adapt to any needs the family may have.
The Algerone Nightstand, located directly in the center of the beds, features a marble countertop for the ultimate aesthetic, making it the ideal bedside table. The Liberty Small Table Lamp on top adds boundless elegance and charm to this bedroom, while the Liberty Slim Pendants on each side of the beds are an inspiring delicacy for the eyes, ideal for those who enjoy brightening details.
Anyone will appreciate the features of this private outdoor area, which provides refreshing respite to guests and residents alike even on the hottest of days. Relax with friends or read in the spacious Hampton Wood Armchairs and Hampton Wood Sofas, and when night falls? The center table with a custom fire pit can be lit for everyone’s comfort. When dinner time arrives, you can still enjoy the warm breeze and an outdoor feast with a custom Charla Dining Table and an outdoor version of the Charla Dining Chairs, which are made of a variety of luxurious and resistant materials to allow you to fully enjoy your outdoor living experience.
On a trip to the city of lights, Greg Natale, the worldwide famous interior designer, found inspiration in the Parisian arches and swaths of maroon to design this glamorous home in Melbourne. Step inside a 4,000-square-foot penthouse apartment in an Australian high-class suburb of Toorak, in Melbourn. Excited?
This pink home is an absolute interior design treasure in the design world. The clients are jewellery designers and they wanted their personality and passion to be presented in the project. Contrasting this, the space for the residence was originally clean and minimalistic, which is the absolute opposite of the owner’s style, but the perfect starting point for a creative mind.
The interior designer wanted to include different elements that were everything but neutral, starting by embracing the color pink in one of the main rooms – the dining room. The walls are
covered in an amazing Gucci wallpaper, that perfectly combines with some joinery gold pieces and brings a sense of luxury and power to the room.
Besides the unusual, exotic, and exclusive combination of tones, this project has a curated selection of amazing pieces from different exclusive brands, transforming this penthouse almost into a design museum. For example, Greg Natale combined some Jonathan Adler’s furniture, that the couple already had, with some more contemporary brands such as Boca do Lobo’s Fortuna Dining Table, which takes the stage’s center in the dining room, illuminated by a Kelly Wearstler‘s suspension light and above a Greg Natale’s art deco rug.
The final result of this room strongly relays the love of luxury and glamour, for the owners, but also the interior designer.
We had the pleasure to have a conversation with Noha Khaled, a talented interior designer working for Hany Saad Innovations. This firm has established a strong reputation for offering the highest interior designs with a standard for excellence, space planning, and interior architecture. Based in New Cairo, Noha Khaled shares with us some of her most stunning interior designs.
Noha Khaled‘s passion for design started in college while she was studying architecture. She loved her field of studies but as she stumbled upon design and got the chance to design spaces and pay attention to the smallest details that would greatly influence people’s experiences and interactions within their intimate spaces, she couldn’t resist getting into interior design. She now has an incredible portfolio with amazing interior designs.
“Interior Design is an art and if you’re not passionate about Art, most likely you will fail to be a good designer as it’s an
essential to this job”, she says.
Noha Khaled thinks one needs to be able to get influenced and inspired by each and everything in this universe, the designer must look at each object differently with a deeper detailed look to be able to craft it out in an innovative creative way to create amazing interiors designs. A designer must develop outstanding knowledge of a diverse variety of styles, aesthetics and techniques despite their own personal preferences as one can simply infuse different elements and concepts from different styles to bring out something creative.
A good interior designer must be a good researcher and knowledgeable about each type of space that they are going to create, the purpose of the space, the functionality, and the way of interacting with it. Finally, a designer needs to keep up with the latest design shifts and industry insights, so that they
are always a step ahead of the clients as it helps interior designers find alternate, creative ways to scale new heights professionally.
Noha Khaled prefers her designs to be bold and to be mixed with art, creating a cohesive space. She always wants the space to be functional yet dramatic while creating the perfect environment for the client. As for her preference, she likes mostly a modern contemporary style that is mixed with a luxurious touch.
Noha Khaled confessed that the most satisfying and exciting part about her work is that it can be seen, felt, and experienced physically and emotionally. Interior design satisfies the artist in her by creating and inventing space and voids from scratch in whichever the concept direction she decided to go.
The interior designer also shared with us what is like to work for Hany Saad Innovations, a leading company in the field of interior design in Egypt.
“Ever since I set my mind to work in the interior design field, I wanted to work at Hany Saad Innovations as the company is the leading one in interior design field in Egypt”, she says. Hany Saad Innovations has given her the opportunity to work on various different types of projects, giving her the freedom and space to create and invent new ideas and go far with her imagination without restrictions and limitations and providing new challenges along with a vast exposure to international brands and solutions. The firm supports her and her designs to be bold, creative, and innovative embracing the designer’s imagination.
One of Noha Khaled’s favorite interior designs is the new one in New Cairo for Hany Saad Innovations. In this project, the client was open to creating and inventing new ideas in each space. It was challenging as each space had to have its own concept and unique idea, yet the spaces were designed to be integrated with each other in harmony, creating a cohesive dramatic space. In this project specifically, Noha Khaled wanted to emphasize on the art. She used more than a rug from the Rug‘Society to meet the artistic touch for this project. The VALENCIA RUG shines in the living room with its elegant design, as well as the COUPLE RUG. In the dining room, we have the AGATHA RUG, adding some fluidity to the space. These rugs couldn’t serve the design purpose any better according to Noha Khaled!
She usually uses these rugs to create an artistic center pieces in her designs. She used the COUPLE RUG to emphasize the direction of the space while using its colorful pattern to create a contrast with the furniture.
One of the most challenging things that Noha Khaled has faced in her career was the beginning of it, as she had to gain the trust of clients despite having limited experience. She made proof of perseverance and will as she rolled off her sleeves and started digging deep into research and studies until she was able to stand on a solid ground. One of the biggest highlights in her career, for now, is the project in Mauritius in which she designed the interior and the exterior prototype for a resort on the island. In this project specifically, she had to study the culture and the tropical nature of the island with its surroundings. She used local materials in her designs to reduce cost and embrace the vibes of the tropical island for a full end-user experience. It is an impressive project which features the beautiful IMPERIAL SNAKE RUG in it.
Noha Khaled praises Rug society’s products as it is one of her favorite brands: “there’s not a single rug in the collection that I don’t like!”
She firmly affirmed that she will definitely use more of the collection in her upcoming interior designs and we can’t wait to see it! She can’t wait to show us her upcoming interior designs using some Rug’Society rugs. She feels very comfortable using those pieces that she is ready for a new collaboration with the brand on a bigger scale.

Food is an intimate form of art as its texture, colors, flavors and aroma incorporate all the senses. Imagine how enriching and sublime the experience will be if all of these are within luxurious and artful settings! Such is the case with the Ducasse Paris restaurants in Qatar located at the iconic Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), and National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ).
A decade of partnership between IN-Q Enterprises (IN-Q), the commercial arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Qatar Museums (QM), and Michelinstarred Chef Alain Ducasse has provided an elevated experience in the dining scene with the Ducasse restaurants in Qatar. One would wonder what could be the tie that binds a museum with a renowned chef as Alain Ducasse. Yves Godard, IN-Q’s Director of F&B Operations shares, “There is a long relation between Alain Ducasse and Qatar Museums based on mutual respect, friendship and shared vision. Each has the same focus on quality and eye for detail and share the passion of providing exceptional and out of the ordinary guest experience.” The Ducasse Paris chefs involved in crafting the menu amongst all the restaurants unanimously agree that they are in the proper settings because for them, food is definitely an art. As Jeremy Cheminade, Executive Chef overseeing all Ducasse Paris chefs in Qatar, said, “Cooking develops extraordinarily high levels of creative expression and can be compared to other artistic disciplines.” The shared vision and conviction that fuses gastronomy and art is the formula for these restaurants’ success in Qatar.
Established in 2013, IDAM is the first foray of the Michelin starred restaurateur and “architect of flavors”, Alain Ducasse, into the Middle East. Located on the top floor of MIA, IDAM celebrates an iconic landmark in Qatar in an environment that seamlessly blends local tradition with modernity and offers picture-perfect views of Doha’s skyline. The spectacular view is matched with an exquisite interior created by French designer, Phillipe Starck, fusing modernity with the classics to offer IDAM a dynamic environment with an Arabian touch.
IDAM offers the highest standard of French haute cuisine with the warmest Arabic hospitality. The menu features contemporary Mediterranean dishes with a twist of eclectic Arabian flavors, prepared using fresh and sustainably produced ingredients enhanced with a sophisticated balance of flavors.
IDAM’s loyal patrons, as well as those who look for new culinary adventures, enjoy the rich menu that complement their cultural experience after a visit at the galleries of the iconic MIA.
From an iconic landmark to another, one finds a gem of a pearl at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), Jiwan –where desert meets the sea. New yet so inherent. Refined yet wonderfully relaxed. Jiwan reconnects with the past yet moves forward to the future. It takes one back to Qatar’s culinary roots and reinvents familiar flavors to offer sharing plates that have a sophisticated simplicity. Novel yet comfortingly nostalgic.
Displaying great pride in Qatar and its vision for selfsufficiency, Jiwan’s sustainable menu embraces seasonal homegrown produce. The restaurant’s ever-changing selection of dishes offer guests the freshest ingredients while preserving natural food resources.
Inspired by Qatar’s nature and Bedouin lifestyle, Jiwan’s unique design by prominent architect Koichi Takada appeals to the curious explorer who likes to wander through the past to enjoy a new understanding of the world around them. Guests are invited to dine amongst the dunes of Khor Al Adaid (Inland Sea) or experience extraordinary seascape views from the outdoor terrace where they will enjoy a close connection to the sea. Located on the fourth floor of NMoQ, Jiwan is an essential chapter in the museum’s storytelling experience. A dining destination that enables residents and international visitors to truly feel, touch, and taste the essence of Qatar.
Café #999 comes back under new management by IN-Q in consultation with Ducasse Paris, with new branding and menu that serves authentic Italian cuisine. It is located at the ground floor of the Fire Station - a contemporary art space located in the heart of Doha committed to supporting artists, curators and the wider public through its residencies and public programmes. A fusion of gastronomy and art, Café #999 is the perfect dining destination at the Fire Station. Envisioned by interior designer Helene Bonte to be a happy place with endless possibilities, Café #999 is an open canvas to artists. Creative minds are welcome to design its soul. With an inspiring culinary space designed by artists and creatives, and a compendium of classic Italian dishes, Café #999 presents a one-of-a-kind dining experience. To complete Café #999’s contemporary look, the restaurant’s interiors and furniture are inspired by retro art with a splash of pop-art patterns and colors. Bonte came up with this design by letting the environment tell its story. While working on the design, she envisioned “a beautiful popular park, some retro architectural elements and many art prints everywhere”. These
inspirations define Café’ #999’s genre – Pop Art.
Phil Lawrie, IN-Q’s General Manager has this to say on the diverse concepts of the three restaurants, “Whether it’s at IDAM in MIA, Jiwan at NMoQ or Café #999 at the Fire Station, we work closely with the Ducasse team to develop restaurant concepts that align with each venue’s theme. Within each of the restaurant’s distinct and remarkable settings, guests are welcomed to enjoy culinary delights meticulously crafted by the Ducasse kitchen team.”

Designed by Nini Andrade Silva, and with a timeless classic nature, the interior design project is influenced by a period in recent world history, called the Belle Époque, which is reborn in total harmony with the island’s cultural resources, in an exciting journey between the existing natural and intangible heritage. We refer to the exuberance of the surrounding nature, the uniqueness of the humanized landscape where the levadas and old tunnels stand out, the excellence and mastery of Madeira Embroidery, the centuries-old art of working Wicker and the wisdom associated with the production of one of the best wines in the world – Madeira Wine. Working together, these unique resources are at the base of the metamorphosis between conceptual inspiration and the materialization of the interior design project.
Deeply rooted in the collective memory of Madeira Island, the interior project places a high emphasis on the element of nature. In the large main hall, from where you can see the garden composed of autochthonous and semi-tropical species, there are waterfalls that end in levadas present in all the social areas of the entrance floor. Large photographs alluding to the old tunnels built by man and which are currently an integral part of Madeira’s landscape, provide unexpected corners that lead to moments of relaxation or conviviality for guests.
Offered by the island, brought by the sea, and taught by history, Savoy Palace has food like no other. Having a huge variety of flavors, you will be able to experience flavors that will surprise you.

Palácio Ludovice is located in the heart of Lisbon amidst the mythical Chiado, Bairro Alto and Príncipe Real neighbourhoods, facing the breathtaking panoramic views of the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara and the emblematic Glória Tram. Former private residence of João Frederico Ludovice, architect to King João V in the 18th century, its rooms and halls are brought back to life as 61 rooms and suites.
In the early 1700s, João Frederico Ludovice arrived in Lisbon, commissioned to transform King João V’s architectural desires into reality. In search of a place to build a private residence, here he found the perfect spot. A façade developed in 5 floors of unequal height and dimensions, opened by a large central door with decorated pilasters, windows framed in stone, walls covered with 18th century white-andblue tiles, balconies with stunning views over the city, a Chapel with Masonic symbols and a Hebraic inscription, palatial rooms with stucco ceilings and a majestic staircase.
Not long after its completion, the palace became a building of interest after having survived the 1755 Great Earthquake, which turned Lisbon into rubble. Thus, it served as inspiration for the “Pombaline Buildings”, named after Marquês de Pombal, the man who rebuilt the city. In the 19th century, the building was divided into several parcels turning the palacete into a lively hub with shops, offices, and private apartments.
In 2022, this palacete opens its doors again, officially transformed into Palácio Ludovice Wine Hotel.
In charge of the renovation works was the renowned Portuguese architect Miguel Câncio Martins. Under his care, the original white-andblue tiles from the 18th century, the fresco paintings and stucco ceilings were restored, and a new and palatial accommodation arose, marking the beginning of a new era in this historical landmark.
Conceived by the architect and interior designer Miguel Câncio Martins, the 61 rooms and suites at Palácio Ludovice, each one with its own unique decor, were carefully designed to bring back elements of the 18th century, and yet offer the most luxurious modern comforts in the heart of the city. Either overlooking the vertical garden within the inner courtyard or offering a bird’s eye view over the city, elegant bespoke furniture and grand décor blends of original hand-painted tiles and carved wood on ceilings with a contemporary twist. Palácio Ludovice Wine Hotel will take you back in
time to enjoy your stay as a distinguished guest in Ludovice’s manor.
The courtyard at Palácio Ludovice is the meeting place for food and wine lovers, and creative minds. The sophisticated atmosphere of FEDERICO restaurant, a vibrant bar located in an old cellar, and an impeccable service worthy of a palacete come together to offer a truly epicurean experience.
In the morning, the sunlight creeps in through the skylight while the smell of fresh pastries fill a majestic buffet with a myriad of options. For lunchtime, its designer chairs and dazzling decoration are filled with locals and tourists alike, as the city flocks to its buzzing ambience. At night, an ancient vault with brick ceilings now turned into a bar becomes the star of the show with a floor-to-ceiling counter, a wine cellar with decorative and architectural wine elements, all carefully designed by renowned architect Miguel Câncio Martins. The seen-and-be-seen spot at the hotel. The once light-filled courtyard gives way to an intimate atmosphere, where the hanging lights beautifully reflect off the glass ceilings, giving guests a wondrous feeling of countryside star-filled skies in the heart of Lisbon.
Staying true to Palácio Ludovice’s vision of exalting wine, with an offer of curated experiences worthy of a good palate, the restaurant compiled a list of Portuguese wines sought after by expert sommeliers and wine lovers all around the world.
To suit a city pace and enable guests to enjoy Caudalie Spa treatments in the hustle and bustle of urban life, the Caudalie Boutique-SPA has two treatment rooms offering body treatments and facials inspired by the Vinothérapie signature protocols, such as the contouring Crushed Cabernet Scrub & Treatment and the exceptional Beauty Elixir facial. Inserted in a secular family home, the Estoril Vintage Hotel recently opened its doors. The building is located right on the seafront and is full of history and tradition.
The mansion was commissioned in 1917 by Alfredo da Silva, a visionary businessman, linked to the industrial development of Portugal, and who gives his name to the hotel’s street. The project was handed over to the awardwinning architect and painter Tertuliano Marques, awarded a Valmor prize in 1921, who designed the building in Baroque style.
After passing through the hands of other owners, Estoril Vintage reopens now as a charming boutique hotel, in a refined atmosphere. The interior design project was in charge of Graça Viterbo, who ensured the maintenance of the architectural and cultural identity of the building.
The hotel offers 18 rooms, with generous areas and stylized and updated period decor, different in each of the accommodations, as well as numerous services: an exclusive spot on Praia das Moitas for all guests, with bar service, which works as a an extension to the hotel; private driver on request; cultural tours around Lisbon, harmonized with traditional fado; walks through the magical and enchanting landscapes of Sintra; national wine tastings; olive oil tastings from the hotel’s own production; historical and artistic tours, among others.
The Estoril Vintage Hotel has the Belle Èpoque Restaurant, also open to the general public, where you can enjoy gastronomic experiences with national flavors. The setting at Belle Époque Restaurant makes dining a truly enjoyable experience. The cuisine aims to offer a gourmet experience where Portuguese history and culture contribute distinctive flavors. The bar, with its original fresco paintings, signed by the famous painter João Reis, seems designed to take five o’clock tea to another level, a daily ritual offered to all guests.
With the beaches of Estoril just a stone’s throw away, and an inviting promenade as far as the eye can see, sea lovers need no more than a short walk between the hotel pool and the beaches on the line, where sailing, surfing or just strolling by boat are invitations you can’t refuse, provided by the hotel through a reliable network of long-standing operators, with proven experience. The same applies to golf, tennis or horse riding.
Maintaining a healthy routine will not be a problem for those who prefer relaxation practices either. A complete menu is provided by the hotel’s SPA and Wellness center, with the Comfort Zone Skin Care & SPA Treatments quality seal.

Aethos, the design-led hospitality brand for the next generation of luxury travellers, opened a new hotel near Portugal’s surf mecca, Ericeira, on September 1, 2022. Nestled on top of a 40-metre cliff, this new lifestyle destination with unrivalled views of the Atlantic Ocean is surrounded by some of Europe’s best and most beautiful beaches. Aethos focus on community-driven experiences and stands out through a locally engaged approach that puts wellness at the centre, which can be experienced in many ways. From delicious food to daily yoga and meditation classes, Aethos strives to create a healthy balance in all of its properties, and Aethos Ericeira is no exception. “We are creating culture. We have a community of influential change-makers and entrepreneurs, and we use Aethos as a platform to drive positive change for both our guests and the overall setting as a whole,” says Benjamin Habbel, founder and CEO of Aethos. “We want to be an authentic reflection of the local environment, so every destination is very different from the others. What is true in all of our properties is that there’s always something happening, and there’s a reason to be there.”
He adds: “I think what is exciting about Aethos for everybody is our ability to listen to the local community, to listen to our guests, and to just get on with it. And a lot of the ideas we implement come from what we picked up in conversations with the local community. And, of course, our global cluster of guests. As entrepreneurs, we try to find common-sense solutions to annoyances. And this is the beauty of building a hotel from scratch. We’re not traditional hoteliers. We’re owner-operators who can look at a hotel as a completely white canvas, since we have no brand standards dictated by anyone, and there’s no one telling us what to do — we can just do what we think is the best experience for our guests.”
Ericeira is a charming fishing village abounding in cobbled streets and whitewashed houses descending to glorious beaches along the western Portuguese coastline. The spectacular views over the ocean are also shared by Aethos Ericeira, thanks to its privileged location on top of sandstone cliffs surrounded by nature.
The property, which is centred around undisrupted sea views, features 50 rooms and suites, a wooden walkway along the edge of the cliff, a meditation and yoga deck, and a fire pit area. With a focus on physical and mental wellbeing, Aethos’ experiential offerings cater to the modern luxury traveller and the surfer community alike. Besides
a gym and heated saltwater pool, the spa area includes a hammam, a hot slab as well as treatment rooms. Complimentary e-bikes and beach buggies will allow guests to discover the property’s beautiful surroundings and nearby bike paths and beaches. In addition hotel guests have, as “Resident Members”, the same privileges as Aethos Members for the duration of their stay and can participate in all cultural and social events.

To reimagine this former farm property, Aethos partnered with award-winning design studio Astet, based in Barcelona, and Portuguese architect Luis Pedra Silva. Together, they have created a unique hospitality destination that captures the textures, diversity and spirit of its surroundings: the ever-changing hue of the sand combined with the intense blue of the Atlantic Ocean and the earthy colors of the soaring cliff. “One of the challenges was making it work for every season,” says Ala Zreigat, one of the founders, “but we believe we were able to solve it by proposing a dialogue between cold and warm materials.” From warm wood, leather, velvet, rugs, and other fabrics to more noble materials, like stone and marble, the interior design project feels laid back yet elevated, with “a color palette that reminds the guests where they are.”
Astet also considered that Aethos Ericeira is aimed at a young, striving community, including “nomads who love surfing, but also appreciate effortless luxury,” says Ala. The unpretentiousness of the space is materialized through several architectural and design choices that allow guests to “enjoy the pleasures life can offer.” He adds: “the proposal
is very eclectic. You feel that it belongs to the context but is also like an international project where anyone from anywhere would feel happy and relaxed, that they belong and are not out of place”.
Indulge in the ultimate relaxation experience with a wide range of healing massages through the hands of inspired experts. Each journey begins with an exclusive aromatic welcome ritual that awakens mind-body relaxation, combined with natural ingredients and bespoke massage techniques. Aethos’ locally organic products are at the heart of its soothing pamper treatments. To receive your most desired treatments, Aethos will offer a one-on-one consultation before you visit to distinguish your personal needs and desired outcomes. From blissful massages to revitalizing facials, let their expert therapists nurture you.
Surf enthusiasts will not only appreciate individual storage for boards and wetsuits but can also take advantage of in-house surf coaching, as well as a dedicated surf concierge. Overall, there will be daily group surf lessons, and additional surf coaching sessions for families and/or groups (with a private coach) can be booked through an experience platform. Furthermore, surfers will get updated information and recommendations for the best surfing spot on their phones, thanks to the surf concierge — making Aethos the best starting point to explore one of Ericeira’s most remarkable features.
ONDA, the property’s exquisite yet relaxed restaurant, invites guests to share and indulge in the flavors of contemporary coastal cuisine while taking in breathtaking views over the Atlantic ocean. Whether in the bar, on the terrace, or by the pool, Aethos has concocted the perfect setting for guests to enjoy a glass of wine in a vibrant atmosphere 40 meters above the ocean.

Just an hour’s drive from a European capital, wildlife is abundant in Comporta, where time seems to stand still and you can experience all that is genuine and authentic. Sublime Comporta offers a combination of tranquility and simplicity that is both addictive and inspiring, reminding us of the magic of experiencing more with less.

These are spread across the resort adding to the intimacy of the hotel. Among the many amenities available for all guests to enjoy are: a spa with a steam bath and sauna, 3 restaurants (2 seasonal), 4 pools (including one indoor heated pool and one children’s pool), a gym, a yoga pavilion, tennis and paddle courts, an organic garden, a forest garden and an orchard. Enjoy Portugal’s culinary delights at Sem Porta, Sublime Comporta’s main restaurant. In keeping with the essence of Comporta, the architecture at Sem Porta finds its inspiration in the local rice storing facilities. Here, a seasonal cuisine of communion and respect for nature is practiced. The Chef uses regional products, and works with local fishermen and wineries to reinvent typical Portuguese and Alentejo dishes. For an absolutely unique experience, dine in the middle of Sublime Comporta’s organic experience garden at The Food Circle. Yet another option is Tasca da Comporta, a seasonal outdoor restaurant where you can enjoy the classic Portuguese petiscos. In keeping with its spirit of continuously innovating, Sublime Comporta decided to open its own beach restaurant. The vision? A meeting place where friends and families could get together surrounded by the areas breathtaking nature and enjoy a meal, and a day at the beach with the quality of Sublime Comporta yet the simplicity aligned with the Comporta “attitude”. Only 10 min away from Sublime Comporta Country Retreat & Spa, the Beach Club is located on one of Europe’s most beautiful coast lines and one of the area’s most stunning beaches - Carvalhal beach.

The Organic Garden and the Bio-Pool Suites are just a few of the elements that underline Sublime Comporta’s sustainable attitude.
4 rooms, 9 suites, 2 Michelin Stars and an exceptional team. Vila Joya is thoughtfully embedded within the protected natural coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Under Chef Dieter Koschina’s inspiration and guidance, Vila Joya was the first restaurant in Portugal to be awarded two Michelin stars. However, more than just a food and wine connoisseur’s dream; “House of Joy” or “Jewellery Box” in the original translation is home to beautiful gardens, breathtaking views, a simple understated elegance and discreet luxury.
Vila Joya has all the charm of a discreet, private villa. Every room & suite has its own unique view over the Atlantic Ocean. Bespoke interiors blend traditional and contemporary styles, furnished with the finest fabrics, subtle colors palettes and details such as beautiful antiques or delightful maritime art, adding a classic, timeless look. Oh, and did we tell you about the breathtaking views? So, take your time to discover which detail would make you happy, perhaps it’s your own private Jacuzzi, a sun terrace, a small garden or a private pool. Or perhaps it’s a shower open to the starry night sky? The only thing you have to do today is decide.
Unrivalled in the world of fine dining is Vila Joya’s daily changing menu. Chef Dieter Koschina has held two Michelin stars at Vila Joya for over two decades. Serving a flavorful menu with beautifully presented dishes, Chef Koschina and his team have made Vila Joya one of the most highly-regarded and sought-after dining experiences in the Algarve. Or, for when you prefer a more casual environment, there’s the deluxe beach shack, the Vila Joya Sea. They serve seafood and modern Japanese inspired cuisine — it’s the place to relax in laidback luxe bohemian style with friends, family or simply by yourself. It’s also the perfect spot for lunch, a sundowner or dinner and it’s where guests go to sit, gaze and listen to the ocean.
Whilst listening to the sounds of the ocean as it gently laps against the walls of the spa, you can allow any stress to dissipate with the massage therapist’s relaxing and detoxifying treatments. Breathe in the surrounds of architecture, interiors and fragrances that have been lovingly collected and curated from travels throughout the Orient. If you prefer a more of a workout to work off stress, Vila Joya has a fully equipped gym and also offer private yoga sessions, wherever and whenever you like – from overlooking the ocean to under the stars. However, if all of that sounds far too vigorous, simply enjoy walking among the trees and flowers in the garden and then round the day off with a sauna, steam or a Jacuzzi and a good glass of wine.
Nested above the hidden treasure of Praia da Galé on the iconic Algarve coastline, where cypress and palm trees sway in the wind and the flowers seem to bloom forever, is where you’ll find Vila Joya. The luscious lawns, fauna and flora subtly merge into the natural rolling landscape of limestone cliffs and mighty sand dunes. The Algarve is famous for its light and unique microclimate as well as some of the World’s best golf courses.
Originally acquired as a family residence, founder Claudia Jung began transforming the estate in 1982 into the discreet hideaway that it is today. Every detail still bears witness to her style and elegance. In 1991 Claudia brought in Austrian chef Dieter Koschina to Vila Joya. Together they set about raising the culinary standards of the Algarve, achieving their first Michelin star in 1995 and in 1999 their second. Since 2003, Claudia’s daughter Joy has managed Vila Joya. Continuing her mother’s legacy and presenting her own love for art and detail, Joy has introduced a modern influence to the established traditional values and qualities of Vila Joya — enhancing original features such as the Moorish architecture with sympathetic touches.
